    In my latest game I Use the rail distribution office to carry construction materials from different factories to a central storage and the export the excess once the storage is about to get full. this allows the factories to keep working constantly and for me to make extra export profits while keeping a stock pile. Its a late game save but I have specialised my rail DOs I have a dedicated Do for aggregate , Boxcars flat beds ect.... With the 20 tsk limit In a big republic will need many rail DOs. Its worth using a rail DO just or the load unload % controls.

    I started a new game and i was using trains with a 100 meters as base length but now 150 will be so this beauty works smoothly

    Just as you were explaining how the train cannot pass through the DO, discord popped up with a W&R:SR update:
    "0.8.6.8 - PUBLIC TEST @everyone
    -Rail DO - train can now pass trough (require to rebuild DO)"

    Shame they’ve limited it to 150m. Long rail depot you can get up to 460m maybe? In mods we trust I guess. Great video!

    Sounds like an ideal building for Pchelkistan - the (fictional) nation so proud of their Pchelka locomotives (tiny mod electric locomotive) that it's the only mode of transportation that they use for everything possible (= everything except walking and fuel distribution to buildings that just can't work off the rail like Construction Offices, Hospitals, Police stations etc.).
    I'm thinking about trying this for my next republic... Just a hive of tiny trains :D

    I hate how the other tracks in that yard dont' connect to anything. Can you connect to them, even just for looks so we can imagine it functions as a yard?

    First there is mod for RDO of 460 metres. Second, you can dig into script and change values of RDO tracks. Cause the length of RDO track tells ya the capacity of RDO train length handling.
    For example I use 2-2,5 km long coaler's and oiler's for distribution to port/customs.

    Great video thanks. Question: Can the train distro allow for a city's rail warehouse to be a destination and a source for the same consumer good? Normally one would import\make consumer goods in the capitol and then the trains would distribute to the smaller cities to be further distributed. However, some of these cities also produce consumer goods, (like meat), that I need to pull to the capitol for export. But I also don't want to wipe them out. I'm thinking maybe 2 train distro's? One for push and one for pickup? Thanks in advance. It's killing me right now lol.

      You can do it with 1, but it would mean a lot of bad trips...2 is probably the minimum you need, but I don't see a reason why it wouldn't work.

    Do you need a distribution office and a train depot or does the distribution office alone work?

      You can buy all vehicles in the RDOs, so no train depot needed besides dedicated lines

    Just recently got into the game and I have a problem: when using the ROD, my trains aren't unloading fully. They would arrive at their destination with a full load of cargo, but only unload a couple of tons before returning to the DO. I have made sure to set the unloading percentage to 100% but it still keeps on happening. I am not using any mods so I am unsure what the problem is. Any tips?

      Make sure there are no errors in the RDO, then make sure you have power and capacity in the destinations, then make sure you have direct connections for the drop-off (no engines etc).

      @@bballjo Had it resolved. I had to discard all inventory at the destination before the trains unload as normal. Thanks for the answer though!

    So it means that I can't take Clothes from a Storage and Food from another Storage and drop them off on the same third Storage? It has to be clothes and food from the same Storage to work? Thx

      It can hold a certain length of wagons, and each wagon has a different length...

    Being fan of very long trains, i find this size limit is really annoying. There are modded versions that allow max length trains though.
    Actually the main problem is that trains HAVE to come back to the office to get a new shipping route and this is just... MEH.

      @@bballjo Can trains turn around in them, and can they switch tracks when going back out? How much space can they use in it, how long can they be when they move in and out...
      I need to know how to plan around using them properly.

      I won't be able to tell you exactly how to use it in your specific scenario...it's best that t st that yourself. The station can take any length, and trains can enter and exit from any of the connections.
