  • In this video, find out what I did to encourage my Goldendoodle to have great dog food manners.
I touch on what I learned from Cesar Milan’s dog psychology and the practical steps I took to apply it to my dog.
It’s all about understanding pack mentality, and ‘doggie logic’!
If you have problems with your dog stealing food, if your dog begs for food while you’re eating, or even if your dog or puppy is domineering, there are ways of encouraging the right behaviour by doing things that make sense to dogs.
Having a dog which has great manners around food definitely makes home life more harmonious.

    Enjoy watching!
    All the best,

And to my doggie-lovin' friends around the world.

    Great video!
For my goldendoodle puppy, food time was head and shoulders the main issue we had with him. I think he was smaller than his siblings and didn't get to eat too much before we picked him up, so he was obsessed with food. So I had to go full on Cesar Millan to teach him restraint and it was also a perfect time to teach him the beautiful eye contact he has now days.
Eye contact before food time means that eye contact will also happen during other times of the day when they want something else from you. It creates a great connection with the dog and reinforces their place in the pack.
Hugs from Scotland, lovely video as always.

Thank you Gondwana - always great to hear from you! Good to see we think along similar lines... I hope you're loving life with your pupper. 💛 from Australia x

Hi, have you done a video on walking manners? The one thing my 8 month old, male, Goldendoodle cuts in front of me all the time. Instead of following me up or down the stairs, or behind me as we walk through rooms in my home, he constantly cuts in front of me. One day I'm am most assuredly going to fall and get hurt. How do I stop this very rude behavior?

Hi Sherie, that's a tricky one as I've not encountered Sophie cutting in in front of me like that. What comes to mind is to stop and pair this behaviour with an immediate and firm 'no', then follow up by showing him what you want the behaviour replaced with - by pointing to where you want him to be... once he positions himself right, then give profuse 'good boy' praise. I hope it helps 💛

Can you do a video on how you taught her not to come into the kitchen?
