Bad Religion's version lyrics:
Long ago in a dusty village
Full of hunger, pain and strife
A man came forth with a vision of truth
And the way to a better life
He was convinced he had the answer
And he compelled people to follow along
But the hunger never vanished
And the man was banished
And the village dried up and died
At a time when wise men peered
Through glass tubes toward the sky
The heavens changed in predictable ways
And one man was able to find
That he had thought he found the answer
And he was quick to write his revelation
But as they were scrutinized
In his colleagues eyes
He soon became a mockery
Don't tell me the answer
I've got ideas too
But if you've got enough naivete
And you've got conviction
Then the answer is perfect for you
An urban sprawl sits choking on its discharge
Overwhelmed by industry
Searching for a modern day savior from another place
Inclined toward charity
Everyone's begging for an answer
Without regard to validity
The searching never ends
It goes on and on for eternity
This man is a genius and an Icon . Love “Bad Religion “ music .....
Amaizing lyrics! We're love you, Greg!!
All BR songs can be easily transferred to acoustic guitar and made into folk songs. It's a sign of the songs' quality. Stripped down they are just as powerful.
I've started referring to BR as "punk rock for intellectuals".
BR is angry Americana
Greg has said the he often starts BR songs on piano or an acoustic guitar, figuring out the chords progressions, lyric phrasing, etc.
Oath!
Absolutely correct. There's so much more to Bad Religion Songs than just punk rock. Inspired by this wonderful version and that of Jonny aka memento12777, I published a solo piano cover of this song on my channel called The Piano Mod. Feel free to check it out.
The most beautiful thing I've ever heard!
Been thinking of this song all during the pandemic. I hope everyone of you and your families are safe and healthy.
WE LOVE YOU GREG!!!

At the end of it all, there needs to be a double acoustic album. This is absolutely brilliant as always.

Rip you will always be remembered(the owner of this channel,he’s my best friends dad)
it took me a really long time to tell you about the answer
Sick! 🎯
It sounds ready on my end. I wish I could hook up to Brett again but my Optiplex is in a different building. They took me away. Please neogeoate on my behalf.
obviously it was never about bucking trends. it was them saying while bucking the trend, that they were the trend, and would uphold the establishment, about their trend, if anyone talked down about it or the establishment that they uphold.
Awesome, I have worked with Epitaph and BR mainly sine 1993. Where did these wonderful songs come from? I considered myself a huge collector at one point I even have this book signed to me.. but no music ever came with it.
Graffin and I did talk about his book and many songs that helped keystone it. Some arent uploaded or done idk..
Portrait of Authority also being among the songs
lemme know! danke
Ah a little missed vinyl eh. Oooo
I bought the book from the Kings Road Merch site, around the time Dissent released, and it came with the CD.
go on for the truth and leave all mainstream behind you

f zack, f gregg and f any band/artist who calls conservatively minded people fascists and nazis. those that will, are themselves projecting their own lifestyle.
