- An annual event running since 2011 in which competitors raise money for charities, complete challenges, dress up and ultimately try and get their 'banger' cars to the destination location.

So by definition a "Banger " has to be at least a year old - hilarious. would be interesting if they had to be proper bangers
Yeah, it would appear so! I was envisaging a lot of older vehicles and not ones that have barely had their first MOT. I believe originally they had to be less than £1000 but things have changed. I guess there's not much point in running a rally to raise money for charities if none of the cars make it to the end. Although, a proper banger rally would be very interesting im sure 😁
I do like the idea of taking a clapped out Morris Marina to St Tropez but I appreciate the difficulty lol. Its why I was interested in the thumbnail. Just calling it a Charity rally makes more sense, I was going to watch "Banger Racing" 50 years ago.@@DipstickUK
@@jeffmarriott now there's an idea!!! I wonder if there is a 'banger' rally anywhere in the UK for pre '90s vehicles. I'm intrigued to find out.
Just to clarify yes they did need to use a banger (less than £1000 & 15yrs or older) to be in the chance of winning prize money for their charities. Every year we do have a few last minute breakdowns of bangers so newer cars are used so they don't miss the event.
