    I know exactly what you mean about trying to get a net sorted. Sold out or completely over-priced everywhere. In the end I ended up ordering exactly the same as you :-D And it supposedly arrives today just in time for the weekend! Cannot wait and neither can the little guy who is desperate both to smack his driver and fire a few football shots in there.

    I have the quickplay 8x8 golf net and after 3 weeks of daily use a ball went through it.
    If you hit in the same area the nylon will begin to fray and eventually fail and if you're hitting driver at the time I wouldn't hold out much hope for the fence behind the net.
    I use the frame but now hang a heavy duty archery net from it, perfect. I got the archery net from net world sports

    Hi cris I use the net all the time. One advice, as u hit balls repeatedly it makes a hole in the net . So to prolong the best life, I attache a shade cloth over it . It spares the net and lasts way longer. I do this because I can't buy the net alone in south africa.

    Shin pads needed, lol! It's great that you will be continuing with the video tuition, Chris. Thank you. They will still help even in lock down! I am still waiting for my net, hopefully arriving tomorrow. I did wonder though, during these weird times, when you might have a little more time on your hands, why not do some video diagnosis? If some of your subscribers are able to video their swings into their nets, maybe you could select some to do some online analysis and advice? Sometimes when you describe swing faults (over the top, open at the top, too steep, flipping, etc etc) it would help us if we could actually see a swing that has these faults. Obviously people sending videos would have to consent to being published, but I think it would really be a great benefit to all of us subscribers. I will happily send you a video of me swinging, once my net arrives...

    Hi Chris, perfect timing as I just managed to get something sorted to hit balls yesterday. I think you’ll find the ball comes back less with the longer clubs as the ball hits lower in the net. The middle has the greatest trampoline effect.

    What I learned when I set my net up in my shop, if you can loosen the tension on the net the ball will not pop back at you so hard. The net then absorbs more of the impact and does toss it back as fast.

    • @ChrisRyanGolf

    Chris. Wedges get higher shots near middle of net so they trampoline back further. Long irons and woods go lower, nearer bottom or edge of net so less trampoline effect. Think about jumping on a trampoline; where would you go for the highest bounce ? Loosen the net if you can, or as others have suggested hang something on the back of the net to dampen the bounce. I'm looking forward to the next video.

    • @ChrisRyanGolf
      @ChrisRyanGolf  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah i hadn’t considered that but makes a lot of sense. Can’t seem to loosen the net, but may try and add something to the centre 👍

  • @jeffberger7890
    @jeffberger7890 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would disconnect the net at the two base points. Then put separate stakes in the ground, and attach the net base points to the stakes with bungee cords. This will give the net some give so balls don’t boomerang back. Also the net give should save the wear and tear on the net. Thanks for your efforts generating content in these trying times.

    • @ChrisRyanGolf
      @ChrisRyanGolf  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Jeff I may well look into that as an option 👍

  • @silverfeathered1

    Get yourself a baseball cage net saver.
    I have mine attached normal at the top, and higher up at the bottom to create slack in the saver.
    Before we bought that we had a large beach towel that we hammered a few grommets into to hang on the net. Oddly, that old setup "caught" the ball better and was very quiet.

  • @texrex4580
    @texrex4580 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Missed your 'on course' content Chris. Great idea to use that type of net, it looks ideal. You might want to put another canvas material overlay on the central part of the net to reduce wear. Lockdown for another 3 weeks minimum, so it could be getting a lot more use.

    Hi Chris, i set up an old trampoline side net which has two layers of close knit net onto one of the quick play football frame and put a 7 iron hit golf ball straight through it, I would put a sheet over your net so you don't put a ball through your fence and into your neighbours garden 😜

    Hi Chris, I have one of their proper golf nets which is 7' high. The edges are3 tight like yours but it has a lot of loose netting in the middle. Maybe use a couple of lengths of cord to pull the top corners down a bit to loosen up the netting. It won't need much. Maybe 6" or so.

    Hi Chris, I have the quick play quick hit golf net. I got it at Christmas, it hangs looser than your one but still returned the balls like yours. The net didn’t take much punishment and I have split it. Solution is I have strengthened it with a central panel made from green netting for rubble which you see on scaffolding. Looks good and absorbs the ball much better. Only cost £12 on Amazon. Fixed it using cable ties.

    When you pulled out that 60 I thought you were gonna hit it miles over the net😅Cool that you can also hit the longer clubs with your set up. I’ve made a few holes in mine made of garden covers with my 3 w, fortunately it’s got 3 layers one of them a bit more loose to stop the balls. I saw that technique in an indoor facility.

  • @mgmt4597
    @mgmt4597 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    It looks like the reason that your mid and short irons were coming back further is due to the fact that the sweet spot of the net is where those balls are hitting, where as the long iron and driver are hitting lower and not the sweet spot, meaning less trampoline effect from the net

    • @ChrisRyanGolf
      @ChrisRyanGolf  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think your right... I hadn’t considered that, more tension in the middle. I’ll have to hit punch shots with my short irons to test that theory

    Did any of your next door neighbors complain about your ball strike noises? If yes, I’m worried about my neighbors complaining. What solutions are there to reduce ball striking noises?

      @anthonymcleod you can buy one on the quickplay site now but better be quick as I reckon they'll all sell out soon!

    Is your razor on lockdown? (joke) I wish I could order a swing like Chris’s and get it next day delivery! Would save me some money in lost balls and at the range

    It's the spin that brings the ball back not the trampoline effect

  • @AndrewDCDrummond
    @AndrewDCDrummond 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    The less loft means the ball isn’t hitting the middle of the net so less of a trampoline. Hit a 5 iron fat and it might be a problem!

    Chris, you’re too far away and the nets too tight, it should absorb your shots so the ball drops dead, you should be close enough so as not to catch the net with your clubs. The net is not a target, it’s to catch all your shots inc the miss hit ones, for those of us who also miss hit 👍

  • @golfweed9947
    @golfweed9947 ปีที่แล้ว

    HOW LONG DOES THE NET LAST! THE BEST GOLF NET IS THE ONE THAT LASTS THE LONGEST!! ALL ARE GREAT RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX BUT WILL IT STAND UP TO 1,000 shots, 10,000 shots, 100,000 SHOTS? No one ever evaluates the performance of the net in terms of longevity, which ultimately determines the value!

    pe a towel to the center, it'll take the sting out of the ball

      I’d struggle to hit the net - never mind a tea towel. Easy for Chris I’m sure
