Keiichi was absolutely stoked on the car, he did more laps than anyone during WTAC I’d reckon. He might have been the oldest driver there but he had the most energy and the most excitement. Let fans into the garage for photo ops as well, what a champ. Can’t wait for the next WTAC!!
This! People are so misinformed about ABS and think its the devil, but nothing makes you lose more time at the track than missing a corner because you locked your brakes and or spend your time trying to figure out breaking force that can change because of so many variables all the time.
People trash it because, as the dude said; proper race spec ABS =/= normal ABS. Normal ABS is designed to prevent an accident, that's it. Actually 'tripping' ABS is slower than not doing so on a track, just like locking up when braking so it really doesn't make a difference as long as you know what you're doing, just if you delete it you've got a few less things in the engine bay. Yes, ABS can and is absolutely good at this tier, but fucking no one's going to drop $9K on something that they're basically never going to use unless they're doing some serious track driving.
Thats why (most of) racing is so cool, you control the car, not the other way around. If you miss the apex or/and a couple tens of a second because you lock up or didnt used the needed, perfect brake pressure you will work and try to do better on the next lap, and better on the next one. Until its not possible to be faster on that brake zone and turn in. Sure, the car could be easier to drive, more consistent, even faster, but so could with lots of other upgrades. The driver should allways be the limiting factor on the car pace.

Obviously gives consistent and good quality audio. If they touch the mic to their chin its sitting steady and not moving in and out of the ideal audio pickup range.
Glad you asked. People aren’t interview trained so they tend to move their arm around and don’t keep the mic in the same spot, often dropping it too low and making for bad sound. We tell them to “just lightly rest it under your chin” and then it stays there, nice and close to pick up good sound when loud background noise and it doesn’t cover their mouth.

An MX5 in Clubsprint & an MR-S in Open both did 37, which was the most.
