At this point I think she's almost allowing it to an extent to just display how flagrant their defense actually is to the jury (total speculation). @@athos4624 Yes, an attorney has a duty to ensure her client has a zealous defense and every advantage the legal system allows, but her approach with every one of the plaintiff's witnesses, including all of the officers, is hardly appropriate. All she is doing is making herself, and thereby her client, unlikeable to the jurors. There are certain witnesses that the defense can badger and others they shouldn't. She badgered every single one and it wasn't a good reflection. I thought it had to just be her personality until I saw her question the first defendant's witness. I've never seen a Def atty do that to every claimant's witness for 2.5 weeks.

Amber's attorney, to put it mildly, is quite unprofessional (and disgusting.) A certain amount of latitude is allowed during cross-examination, but her attorney is well past that. Plus, she is not laying any foundation for many of her comebacks after the witness has answered her question. It appears the judge is too aware of the camera to properly address the abuses...one of the major problems of televised trials.

I have seen many comments here about the bias of the judge in allowing objectionable language. I am a lawyer (but not an American one) and I don't believe the judge's conduct shows bias. In fact, in a defamation trial, it is necessary for the entire unfiltered allegation to be set out. I believe Amber's lawyer is making a big mistake by putting all these questions to Depp's witness because every denial by a credible witness weakens Amber's case that much more. If she had just kept quiet about it, might have been better for Amber rather than have a resolute contradiction by a witness who was present. Most good judges allow even obnoxious questions because it (a) Helps test the credibility and reaction of the witness, and (b) Allows more information to come out. For example, the witness volunteered that he remembered this flight out of the many because of Amber's behavior towards him. This seems believable and natural. Also, Amber's legal team will be worried that he disclosed a fact which shows Amber's unstable nature. Much like I would know very little about the nuances of medicine or business to make a hasty judgement, I think we should observe as matters unfold before castigating the judge.

Well the reason is quite simple, she defends Amber so it's good for her to win a case that has this much publicity. She isn't making very solid points though. In our court of law everyone has the right to legal representation. Guilty, innocent, good person, bad person- everyone has the right. It's the lawyer's job to do the best they can to represent their client and pursue their best interest.

I am shocked by this. All through the legal issues leading up to the trial she was strong and firm on everything in a good way. It's disappointing to see her seem to completely change now. She threatened Amber's attorneys with sanctions multiple times, she wrote a great legal ruling on the UK trial as denying Johnny justice, ect.
I'm terrified as most others of the AH's lawyer behaviour. However, it's the only strategy that I think can work if AH is indeed as guilty as I think she is. Basically planting doubt and the foul words and actions that everyone is denying about Johnny, but they go straight into jury's subconscious.

This is a lot more complicated than you think. Lots of nuances & rules go into supporting the freedom to cross-examine witnesses, even if it’s hard to listen to. Not that I support Amber, but just know the judge has a lot of specific rules to follow in giving attorneys everywhere the freedom to cross-examine

If a lawyer is becoming this aggressive in their examination of a witness, it is usually a tell tale sign they believe they are losing their case. This was horrible. She showed in patients with this gentleman and continued to try and make him stumble. The simple comment, "The only reason I remember this one is because Amber yelled at me on that flight." Blew up her whole line questioning in one fell swoop.
You know Johnny is innocent when the defense is going to such ridiculous extremes to make the tiniest semblance of a case.

Ive been watching these all day and I don't know if anyone has noticed how they both chose lawyers exactly like themselves. Johnny's lawyers questions are quiet polite and short. This has to be Amber's lawyer because she'd the exact opposite. Loud rude and she keeps interrupting him its driving me mad. I hate people interrupting others.

I have seen many comments here about the bias of the judge in allowing objectionable language. I am a lawyer (but not an American one) and I don't believe the judge's conduct shows bias. In fact, in a defamation trial, it is necessary for the entire unfiltered allegation to be set out. I believe Amber's lawyer is making a big mistake by putting all these questions to Depp's witness because every denial by a credible witness weakens Amber's case that much more. If she had just kept quiet about it, might have been better for Amber rather than have a resolute contradiction by a witness who was present. Most good judges allow even obnoxious questions because it (a) Helps test the credibility and reaction of the witness, and (b) Allows more information to come out.
For example, the witness volunteered that he remembered this flight out of the many because of Amber's behavior towards him. This seems believable and natural. Also, Amber's legal team will be worried that he disclosed a fact which shows Amber's unstable nature.
Much like I would know very little about the nuances of medicine or business to make a hasty judgement, I think we should observe as matters unfold before castigating the judge.
Thank you for this perspective, it makes so much more sense to me why the judge has allowed it.

I genuinely can't put into words how disgusted I am that lawyers like this exist. I don't know law but this just seems speculatory to me, as if they have no idea what to do and just hope they can get enough "I don't know"s out there for any juries or judges to rule in Amber's favor for whatever reason.That judge should definitely be looked into because they seem oddly biased towards Amber, letting this sort of hostile and speculatory questioning occur.

I am shocked by this. All through the legal issues leading up to the trial she was strong and firm on everything in a good way. It's disappointing to see her seem to completely change now. The questioning and attitude of the lawyers are so despicably evil they should be ashamed. This is a lot more complicated than you think. Lots of nuances & rules go into supporting the freedom to cross-examine witnesses, even if it’s hard to listen to. Not that I support Amber, but just know the judge has a lot of specific rules to follow in giving attorneys everywhere the freedom to cross-examine

If a lawyer is becoming this aggressive in their examination of a witness, it is usually a tell tale sign they believe they are losing their case. This was horrible. She showed in patients with this gentleman and continued to try and make him stumble. The simple comment, "The only reason I remember this one is because Amber yelled at me on that flight." Blew up her whole line questioning in one fell swoop.
Ha ha ha he said he only remembers this flight cause amber shouted at him.!
