- I recently completed the restoration of a video of the 1993 Oshkosh EAA AirVenture Air Show. I had the honor of attending with Henry “Hank” Potter, Jimmy Doolittle’s navigator on the Tokyo Raid. There are clips in the video of Chuck Yeager, 1st to break the Sound barrier, Triple Ace, Robin Olds, Fighter Ace and recipient of the Medal of Honor, Joe Foss, AVG Flying Tiger, Eric Shilling and others. The air show included a large number of WWII aircraft including five P-47s, five B-17s, twenty or more P-51s and many more warbirds.
The P-38 Glacier Girl had just been recovered from under a glacier in Greenland and parts of it were on display and included in the video.
The video is one hour and forty-Three minutes in length. I purposely left in as much of the original video as possible because of the historic value.
The original video tape was in extremely poor condition and took more than 100 hours to retore.
