      I'm not sure about workout, but if you don't have practice all you need is a ball and a wall. :)) Enjoy the time with the ball.

      i definitely recommend strength training on off days because on practice days you will typically just be doing cardio. so anything with weights will be beneficial

      right now my coach has off season workouts for us and some stuff is easier to do in the gym like serving then shagging your ball and going through a ladder but some other things are core and leg workouts you can do at home. we do 1 minute walk sits take a 30 sec break and do that 3 times, double arm lift jumps where you stay in that position for three seconds then jump as high as you can x10 and things of that nature

    11:27 !!! i started like this, getting a feel for volleyball and playing by myself helped me so much! also, just joining local volleyball training camps/teams when starting out HELPS. i did that and ive improved IMMENSELY !! if your unable to play for your school (intrams, varsity etc. etc.) starting out in training groups like that helps. especially because
    1. meeting new volleyball players
    2. getting that team experience
    3. getting the basic form down
    4. learning how to communicate with your team
    it definitely varies per person but being more introverted it opened me up to talking to people so much, it improved my volleyball and i just had fun!

    Dear Victoria,
    My name is Jessica. I am 12 years old-turning thirteen soon- and am from Canada.
    I know that you will not probably see this, but I just want you to know that I am truly inspired by you 100% and you make me want to work as hard as I possibly can, in the real world and in volleyball. I have seen a lot of your TH-cam videos including the one where you described how you got recruited to USC. I am in the exact same position as you. Ever since last year, I have only played school volleyball and a few recreational volleyball programs. Day after day I have been inspired to practice practice practice to get to what I call impossible. I know for a fact that I will not grow too tall- no more than your height- and with my passionate playing I hope to be a libero just like you! With your support-through all of your videos and stories- I have nonstop been pushing myself to limit. In the end I would just like to say thank you 🙏 for everything🙃💗🙂

    How do you keep calm or not get anxious in a volleyball game when others are watching? I often choke up, especially in serve receive, and get nervous in games when other coaches, friends or family, who aren't usually at my games watch me.

      Christina Wang just ignore them. Keep focussed on the game. Just don’t think about them at that moment

    • @alittlebitofeverything2050
      @alittlebitofeverything2050 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      When I practice on my own I play an air horn sound on TH-cam. Any loud noise in lapses so its sounding on and off will help your focus and will keep you zoned in. So it helps with passing hitting and serving since you wont be as unfocused, since you've trained to not jump and to tune it out. Idk if it will help but it helps focus which may help

    Hey! I live in a place that doesn’t have a lot of opportunities for coaches to see me...

      hi! I can't really help you with how to increase your vertical because I'm a Libero but about your question regarding about limited opportunities for coaches to see you, I would recommend contacting coaches based on the college you want play at. you can also start filming recruitment videos based on what college coaches are looking for. also, I know some colleges have a site where there a page called questionnaires, and you can answer it and email it to the coach as well. hope this helps and good luck!

    • @madisonmulhearn4289
      @madisonmulhearn4289 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Hey same, I’m also a middle and here are some ways I increased my vertical throughout the seasons I’ve played volleyball.
      1) HIIT and Weight training!
      My team does HIIT workouts and our trainer usually helps us with some certain types of leg exercises, especially with weights (more 15-20lbs). Some ways that help are box jumps, squats, kettle bells, and lunges. Make sure the reps are in a somewhat comfortable range, and choose between either multiple reps with low amount of weights, or higher weights with lower reps.
      2) Running and biking
      Something that helps a lot is running and biking, as it works your leg muscles and other parts of your legs. I’m not a runner, but I also play lacrosse, so it forces me to get out more.
      3) Practice perfecting your approach and explosiveness for blocking.
      Something that I do quite often is practice my approach. You can use a high ceiling or a basketball net and use that as a goal to touch (I do this often). With this you can focus more on the explosive part of your legs and approach, because it trains your legs and muscle memory. Arm-swing is also very important, especially for the approach and blocking.
      If you need reps for blocking, like quickness or vertical, doing it against the garage or a wall is very helpful. You can use tape to decide how high the net should be and stick it on the surface you’re using.
      4) TH-cam videos!
      Something simple that you could also do is google “How to increase your vertical for volleyball”. It helps a lot, especially since I’ve done this way more than one time 😂
      5) healthy eating
      This helps a lot for all around playing volleyball, as it can help replenish muscles. A balanced diet with protein, vegetables, fruit and healthy fats.
      6) recovery
      Recovery is very important!! Because if your muscles are very tight, your vertical can’t reach it’s true potential!
      Good luck with increasing your vertical, and I really hope this helps!
      It’s a lot of work, but I managed to increase my vertical by 4 inches in 2 months!
      Hope this helps! And I hope you have a great day! 😊💕

      In my next video I will cover what to send to coaches, but to give you some quick help you should film one of your games then cut out the best plays and put them into a 1:50 second video and email that to the out of state coaches! If they like your film, they will either ask for more or make a trip out to see you! (as for the vertical, sadly mine is non existent sorry I can't help there!! haha)

    • @lottedebruijn9121

      Make sure you toss the ball a bit before you, not above you. Try tossing the bal without a spin. Those don't fall too fast too the ground. Also focus where you want to hit the ball in the court.
      Also train your back & arm muscles.
      Hope this works for you :)

    • @maddyevans3821
      @maddyevans3821 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Serving for me was definitely an issue for a long time. My problem was mostly not using my whole body to gain the momentum I needed to get the ball over. Instead of just using your arm, engage your core when you swing. Also, bring your other arm up as a "guide" just like you would when you are hitting. This makes it so that when you go to hit the ball, you switch your arms quickly, making you hit the ball harder. I hope this helps, good luck!

    My question is that does college volleyball takes time of school ? i mean there is probably practices after school and i know some sport programs takes time off classes. so, i would like to know if your teams is just after school or in the school schedule.

    • @chaniellaidet3546
      @chaniellaidet3546 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In college you choose your schedule. So you choose classes that don't interfere with the set practice time. There is no "time off from class" unless you are traveling for away games. There is a chance you have a class after practice and before practice as well. It just depends on your schedule and the credits you need. Hope this helps :)

    Victoria, i’m a senior in high school and i’m committed to Missouri State University to play volleyball next year. Unfortunately, I dislocated my shoulder 3 times during season and ended up having to get it repaired. right now I’m 7 weeks post op. I should be cleared to play only a few weeks before our first game in season. I guess my question is: how do I stay mentally/emotionally strong going into a division 1 program injured. The setter ahead of me is pretty good so it just makes me nervous knowing i’ll only have a few weeks to prove to my coaches that I should be on the court. I love your content and what you stand for. thank you for always being so positive.

    • @LindsayPuggleGirl
      @LindsayPuggleGirl 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      most setters also are proficient blockers, and you don’t need to be 6’8 to block but if your blocking skills are awful bc of your height consider switching to ds or libero. before u decide to switch i would definitely recommend working on ur blocking and trying to improve. OVERALL THO you don’t have to be tall to be a setter.

    • @mylastnameisnttylerjoesph843
      @mylastnameisnttylerjoesph843 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      well I’m 5’11 and a freshman setter for varsity so i definitely think you should think about switching. when you are a setter you need to be able to be a strong blocker to help your team defensively. typically, your outside is your strongest hitter, so they need you as a right side to block the other teams outside attacker. usually big D1 schools recruit tall setters; Jenna Gray for Stanford at 6’1, Nicklin Hames for Nebraska at 5’11, etc. if you don’t think you are going to grow anymore, you should definitely work on your defense because it will be much more beneficial to your team.

    I really appreciate this! My daughters story is identical to yours. She is going to be a sophomore next year and started playing volleyball in 8th grade. She is 5’7 OH but her coach recently said due to her height she needed to work on back row. So she plays the whole court currently. She is currently playing in Florida at Nationals but I will definitely tell her about your channel. She will probably try to friend you on Twitter

      Alyssa Baron depends what’s injured, ice and heat and slowly try to test strength of mobility or strength in general of the part, icing is good and slowly working it out. If you broke your leg your arms are available pushups and passing setting, arm broken leg workouts dumbbells etc.

    I’m a libero on a club team, and I play up on a division older than I am. How do I know what school I want to go to? And how do I play volleyball if I want to go to school for something with a ton of courses? Also, when trying out for varsity, how do I stand out as a defensive player, and get on freshman year?
    Edit: another question, how do I get down a good serve/jump serve if I’m not serving during games? And how do you become captain as a defensive player?

    I am a junior going into senior year and I really want to play in college. I haven’t been recruited or talked to coaches yet. What do I need to do? I feel like I am behind, any way to fast track and catch up with girls who have been doing it for years. I feel unsatisfied where I am skill wise as a player and feel to talk to higher up schools I must make a lot of improvement first.

    I play three sports(basketball, volleyball, and softball) and I wanted to quit basketball to play club volleyball, but my athletic director at my school told me that it would be best to be a three sport athlete. He told me that colleges are more appealed to people who are good at more than one sport and that it shows you are more well rounded. I’m still going to do club volleyball however because I think I can jungle all of it but I just wanted to know if what he said is true or if I should have decided to quit basketball.

    IMPORTANT SUGESTION!!! if you feel that you need to get reps in over the summer and need coach attention, SIGN UP FOR GLOBAL SQUAD VOLLEYBALL!!!!!! google it. the coach to player ratio this year is 3:1 and they cover skill training, excessive, and give study time. it is a bit expensive but it is completely worth it they can turn people into college prostpects. they do tournaments every weekend and even attend other team camps as a part of the camp. i’m attending this year and hopefully throughout high school. i hope to see you guys there!!

    So, my high school team has a club team, so we all play with each other in season and out of season. We stay pretty local and we don’t ever travel to places where college coaches are. And I have a really good team, we have won state two times in the last 3 years. I don’t want to leave my team at all, but I want to play more volleyball and play where college coaches will be. I could possibly do them at the same time, but I would miss a lot of the games! What do I do?

    • @alittlebitofeverything2050

      So I'm assuming tryouts a ways out. But try to up your vertical by just jumping again a wall and reaching. But during tryouts run every where dont say you're tired and just show that you are ready. TALK TALK TALK. And be AGRESSIVE. You cant be a middle unless you just attack the ball, be aggressive with hitting and blocking. But dont forget to play defense and work on passing

    Hi Victoria! I wanted to say that you're a huge inspiration of mine. I live in Canada and I started playing Vball last year (I'm in grade 8) and I have come to a point where I didn't know how to bump a ball to spike it. I'm still learning and I wanted to ask you how can a foreign student afford a college or Uni in the US? I know there are still options in Canada put on a theoretical level, could someone afford to play volleyball and be an international student at the same time? Thanks!

      Audrey Marvin I’m a setter so when I’m hiding in serve receive I look the girl who’s serving straight in the eye and give her a really scary look and I swear every time they miss or mess up 😂😂🏐💗💞

      yeah same! im a setter so i never really play serve receive, but when i practice it in practice i always think something along the lines of “your serve is nothing to me” or “i can handle your serve” when you are confident you automatically play better
