    Been away for a few days so just caught up with this video! Great stuff! We used a borrowed engine crane and fitted the bell housing on before refitting. Our flat belt was completely useless so I got a new one made up by someone in Kings Lynn which we fitted over the drive pulley as the engine went back in. It was a little tight initially but stretched enough are leaving in gear to release the threshing mechanism from the engine for starting up. I seem to remember that getting some of the engine bolts back in was a pain in the arxe!

    Thanks for sharing all your mechanical adventures, my family ran Fordsons and Massey combines in the U.K back in the day, and I still collect Fordson majors here in Canada. I was born in 1974, and remember the last fordson on the farm and the day the Massey combine went in the scrap, from memory it was about as nice looking as this one, so was a shame it ended that way like so many more nobody wanted. I had a JCB 3c2 in the early 90's that started doing goofy things like your machine with fuel. It had a factory original rubber hose feeding from the tank to the lift pump. The hose started breaking up inside and a flap of rubber would lift plug the flow then when the bleeder was opened it laid back down and ran for a while until it did it again, an old JCB driver freind of mine told me about them doing it, so fitted a new hose and it never did it again. The other thing I had happen on a county 954 tractor was the tank air vent plugged and it would run 15 minutes consistently then stop. it couldn't pull fuel with the vacuum forming in the tank but ran after bleeding the system, I changed the vented cap and that stopped it. Take care

      @super6954 great stuff we've done all that and come to the same conclusion that the rubber pipe from tank to lift pump could be failing 😳, well done 👏

    Many years back I has a 3CX that kept dragging air about ten minutes into a new filter and it turned out to be a bad batch of filters. fitted with the wrong paper. (genuine, supplied by TC Harrison) Bought different filters and no more problem.
    Probably not your issue but worth a look mate.
    This rain is good for spuds but not for getting anything done.
    Enjoying your videos. Thanks for sharing.

    We used to bolt a home made 3 point linkage frame to the front of the engine, then mount it on a tractor and use position control on a tractor to fit and remove the engines. You could do this with the elevator in place.

    Pack the bell housing and the front of the engine up with some washers to slacken the drum belt until it stretches

    I never like doing the sealing canvas and sliding skirts on grain pans either and always end up dropping a nut or washer in the fanning mill which then has to be fetched out, quick question concerning the bearing retaining nut on the gearbox input shaft, would it be worth putting a spot of loctite on the thread to ensure the nut can't come undone again? also regarding the sucking air in the fuel system on the telehandler (is it a JCB 520?), if it's got mainly metal pipes have a check of the "fit" of the pipes in things such as the filter heads etc as any pipe flares or olives can take on a compressed set letting air in, careful use of ptfe tape or loctite 577 will seal them up.

      @stevehill4615 yes still got that job to sort out I'll do the rubber pipe first and see where we go from there and it's a 520/4

    • @stevehill4615
      @stevehill4615 21 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@FenlandCrusader yeah, we've got a 530-4 in and we had a problem with the sealing O ring on the fuel filter where glass bowl sealed to the filter but also the fit on the pipe from the filter to the injection pump wasn't particularly clever, also if you're after belts for the Massey (thinking the wide flat belt particularly) we've got a lot of nos that came from Burgess's they sold up.
