The walnut wood grain is amazing. Just a thought... You could have also cut the bottom of the dado to make a shadow line to match the lid.
    Keep up the great videos!

Hi Skyler, thank you for showing us how you create your beautiful boxes. I agree the combination of woods used work really well. Also the information regarding the types of Tung oil used and why. Thank you for the video looking forward to the next one.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

You are so welcome! Glad you liked the information on thing oil. Sometimes I wonder if I should have cut those parts out as it seems in lots of my videos I am talking too much. It’s a fine line between not explaining enough and giving too much information

Your skills are amazing, thank you so much for sharing all these tips and showing how to get it done.. I have used different oils too and found that sunflower oil makes a really nice finish, popping the wood and making it buttery soft also. To really finish it too you can make a homemade wax out of the sunflower oil an beeswax. Not knocking your finish at all very beautifully done an oh yeah your hair looks nice.

Hi Skyler, my husband said the top of the box is curly walnut, it is beautiful, he made something for me out of curly maple, try using Johnson’s paste wax on some of your projects it works great, when time to buff it out use a paper towel

Tung oil is my absolute favorite finish. I normally do 3 coats with 24 hour drying time in between. I'm my own boss now, with no deadlines, so I don't mind taking my time for a quality finish. Prior to this, my go-to had always been Watco Danish oil which is a nice blend. The boxes turned out beautiful, did you consider some contrasting splines?

You could have fixed the miter mistake by inlaying a piece of walnut in that slot that would end up on the outside instead of cutting that part off. The groove could also have been filled with colored resin for another design idea. There are so many ways to fix a booboo. I always appreciate seeing the mistakes people make. Then I can come up with my creative ways to mess something up. rofl.
Now I want to make a box with different colored resin stripes on the outside. :P Your videos definitely inspire creativity, thanks!

One can is holding small pieces that could be useful for other projects, the other is scraps blanks that I already glued up together for making birds, handles, etc

You could put a piece of 1/4 mdf on top of your 45 sled for a new base, and second you could have placed a thin strip of walnut in the groove and then cut your bottom groove on the inside
