    H0ffman is such a legend.
    Definitely one of the best trackers still performing today. Here's hoping the scene will never die

    I found a mix of yours from 10 years ago earlier today and I thought there's no way he's still uploading and here we are.

      Yeah still pumping them out, I'm not high volume which helps to not get bored or burned out.

    This is amazing. Also, it pointed me to the Eon demo. Which is also amazing.

    • @off1k
      @off1k  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, Eon is excellent, even better when you realise it runs on a 7mhz Amiga 500 with 512k chip/512k slow.
      The .mod itself is actually too big (559kb) for an OCS A500 to play normally as .mods only work in chip ram, there's some black magic at work here. If memory serves me correctly I think the drumloops are stored in slow ram and fetched when needed for the actual demo so that the .mod can fit in chip ram.

    I love it. I never would have suspected this sound to come from a tracker. The producers really stretched the device to its limits. I grew up with both amiga 500 and jungle. This is best of both.

    I heard one of Hoffman's songs in one of your jungle/drum and bass compilations ("Jungle Love") and I felt I had to listen to more of his songs! I'm glad I did, as they're almost consistently *awesome.* Not only is the music good, but the pattern "visuals" are innovative at times. For example, at 12:12, it turns into a waveform that matches the sound, and at 40:09, it _literally_ goes in reverse, matching what it sounds like the song's doing. I haven't seen any other modules do these things! (You also played "Generator" in a comparison video.)
    1:29:59 He did it again! The intro makes the pattern "play" in reverse until the "crash"!
    1:31:47 Twice within the same song! This is one of the best uses of this "effect", too; He says the song's gonna go back, then it *literally does* just that, then goes back and forward as it scratches!

    • @off1k
      @off1k  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you want to see more pattern visuals, here's a few others from my channel :)
      th-cam.com/video/BRJc4C7kS5Q/w-d-xo.html - Track 6 Nasty Ways
      th-cam.com/video/CgAcPZhwwr4/w-d-xo.html - Track 4 Turn It Up
      Here's one of the OG pattern manipulators
      th-cam.com/video/G0oFIGp4o7M/w-d-xo.html - Track 1 Black Queen
      EDIT "(You also played "Generator" in a comparison video.)"
      Actually 22 of the 33 songs I have previously uploaded in various compilations, this time the main difference is they're recorded from real hardware.

    • @XaneMyers
      @XaneMyers 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@off1k Cool! Thanks for the links; So far, I've listened to Black Queen and Nasty Ways, and both practically made the pattern editor into their own visualizers! I like how Nasty Ways started off moving back and forward, but slowly started introducing new visualizations.
      As for Black Queen, that was crazy; When the song was intense, it had visuals that accurately represented the sound!
      Well, these modules have taught me about new, probably unintended uses for the Dxx pattern break command/effect; I can only imagine how complicated these songs became, and how tricky it became to "track" them.

    • @pigpenpete
      @pigpenpete 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The organisers of Revision party decided that these pattern skanking visuals were too distracting so banned them this year - It's been dubbed the H0ffman rule.

    track 2, under name "Rap Beat" is a remix of Onyx - Throw Ya Gunz which samples legendary Bob James - Nautilus

    • @off1k
      @off1k  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey, thanks for the info.
      I knew it would be a remix of something but I was/am not much of a hiphop/rap listener. Should of guessed it was Onyx because of the other track Shifftee.
      So had a listen to Bob James Nautilus, sounds good, thanks for that.

    The Amiga is so special, in that in an era of "cheesy" chip sounds it allowed basically making Electronic Punk Music.

    Very interesting compilation. I'm trying to make my own music using mod trackers (with OpenMPT precisely) and these tracks, along with music hits from Amiga games (like Pinball Dreams and Pinball Fantasy) may give me a bit more inspiration in the near future. That's what I like with mod-tracker music: it never gets old.
    Thanks very much for sharing!

      All these Hoffman tracks should be there :)
      Use the quick search top left corner when searching for other tunes (Module) and musicians (Handle) on my channel.
      Some tunes might have slightly different name and some musicians different handle.
      If you get stuck with a certain tune or musician, let me know.

    Thanks for the Hoffman compilation man 😂 managed to download most of the modules and some I can't find but that's ok. In your opinion who is the best tracker musician?? It's a very hard one to answer. Elwood and Nighthawk are most definitely up there for me but who would be your favourite Amiga tracker musician.
