    Every power lifting video on TH-cam with big squats has the same comment " he didn't make depth, what's with the judges:" etc etc. Camera angles make of break things. What we see in a video is not what we would see if we were there. A camera lacks depth perception ( not referring to squat depth) it doesn't see like an eye. So certain angles will show differently. Hence the reason movie fights don't let us see that the punch is actually 6 inches shy of contact. If we do see it it is because the camera angle was wrong. So a video shot from any angle except 90 degrees to the lifter/ side view cannot be considered proof of depth. The front view and the lens not being exactly at the parallel position height will betray the true depth. We are watching raw video vs a camera set in a specific position with perfect alignment and frame to show depth. Chances are the judges are seeing far better than we are.

      That's is yet another ridiculous comment, they got higher as they went and the same camera had guys going lower but getting red lights. Yuri is a fraud, he gets by on name value and exploits the fact he makes these meets viable financially. Stop making excuses for these guys, it's embarrassing and the reason why untested feds never last

    Squat definitely hit depth, the camera is above knee height AND in front, so any squat depth can look suspect. But he definitely hit all his squats, including his 3rd attempt.

    • @CyrillicTM
      @CyrillicTM 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      its the reverse, it looks high if its below the knee, above the knee should look deeper :)

    • @TheFineolase
      @TheFineolase 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@CyrillicTM if the camera is above the knee the hips will appear higher. Just think you will see the knees and quads then hips. So parallel will look high because the quads will appear to be inclined more due to the cameras downward angle.

    Why dont they have some kind of line or something for squats that would judge depth? The whole comments said that was high but to me it actually looked like perfect depth, i see no need to go more than 5% or so past a 90 degree angle you dont need to touch your ballsack to the mat that's just knee pain central. Its fine if you think its too high i understand and until they make some marker its always going to be open to interpretation. It seems there are lots of simple fixes that they just flat out ignore, why?

    Use of Knee wraps vs reverse bands?
    One is seemingly ok and one is frowned upon, why?
    Hypothetical Example: knee wraps providing exactly x amount of force (example, let’s say, 40 lbs of assistive force) at the bottom versus use of reverse bands that apply the same x amount of force at the bottom of a squat.
    Why are reverse bands regarded as cheating or viewed negatively vs knee wraps or some other form of assistive force like a squat suit?
    To me they are very similar- not identical but similar, but the powerlifting community’s perception is very different with one being fine and other being bad.
