I wonder what the highest scoring IB student that failed their diploma was (like not doing CAS or failing TOK or EE). I think from what I understand (going into ib next year) is that CAS doesn't affect your grade but does affect your diploma, so if true isn't a 45 with no diploma possible lol?

Thank you! I would definitely say that being proactive with research (IA topics or EE) is what you should aim for in the summer, especially if your EE is an analysis of past research. To be able to handle the huge workload, do as much as you can in the present moment so that there’s less work to be done (basically don’t procrastinate). If you have nothing to do, then do some work. As for exams, putting the effort to retain what you learn is a huge step for prep, as this saves time and effort with reviewing. Do make sure to keep your notes organized and do some past papers. Hope you have a wonderful summer!
Thank you! I'd say that taking detailed notes, reviewing them, and doing past papers and questions, is something you should do throughout the entirety of both courses. Don't sleep on any of the topics because sometimes the exams will pull up something that could be somewhat obscure, so best be prepared for that.
hey im taking bio HL im rlly nervous about it, im doing history and literature HL along with it do u think that this is balanced like I might swap it for economics HL do u think this would be better since i plan to go into law but like bio is good for memorization and can u give any tips about how to perform well on the bio exam and in class in general thanks a lottt.
Hi there! I had classmates who were planning to pursue a career in law, and they didn’t take Econ HL (partly because my school offered Geography instead). In most cases, History and Literature HL should be enough to help with getting into Law school. Econ HL might help but if you want to exchange Bio HL for it, you do need consider whether or not you are interested in the subject or not.
As for some Bio tips, I recommend that you take the effort to make good detailed notes, preferably handwritten since you are actually processing the information. Reviewing for Bio should be a mix between reviewing notes, textbooks and doing past papers as this would be a good way to test your understanding of the subject as a whole. Hope this helps!
I took Econ HL as well as GP and Lang & Lit, if you're looking for easy HL courses I'd say all of these are good choices with GP probably being the hardest. Econ HL was very similar with the SL version. Is there a reason you want to take Bio HL? Because that would definitely be a lot harder than Econ HL. I know the schools I applied to definitely didn't care about HL vs SL, however I got transfer credits for HL courses above a level 5, so if you wanted to skip Bio in university that could be a perk if you think you'll get a 5 or above or whatever your university says.
I can’t say much due to my personal opinion of each unit, but make sure you’re solid with stoichiometry, and for topics that are more memory-heavy, makes some flash cards. Simply doing practice questions or past papers is also another way to solidify your understanding.
