I think i should take bio? because the amount of work next year, paired with chem scares me so that’s risky. i thought should i force myself to do chem because there’s a better teacher or go with bio and maybe get an average teacher. what do you think? would hl bio or hl chem be more manageable and easier to score high

I’m studying economics in university, and from what I’ve heard is that math is a crucial component. I’m not that good with mathematics because I haven’t been doing much since middle school due to transferring to many schools. So I’m a bit rusty. I thought of the options; 1. English Literature A SL 2. Mandarin B HL 3. Economics HL 4. Business Management HL 5. Biology/Chemistry 6. Mathematics AA SL Option 2; 1. English Literature A 2. Mandarin B SL 3. Economics HL 4. Business Management HL 5. Physics SL 6. Mathematics HL ( IA ) Which one do you prefer? My goal is to score a 36 in the end. I would say that I’m currently sitting at the threshold of 15-18, and after solidifying my foundations to increase into 27-34.
Hi! Here's what I think: If you aren't a science person and you won't need science subjects for uni then I would recommend taking bio. This is not to say that it is easier, but rather that the method of teaching and studying is the closest to what a "humanities" person would be familiar with, if that makes sense. It also involves less math than physics and chem. Math is indeed very important if you want to study Econ, so I would recommend taking it HL. Many people say that AI HL is easier than AA HL, but I took neither of those so I can't be sure. Generally though, if you aren't that comfortable with math then AI would be a better pick. Hope this helped!
Heyy, im also starting ib diploma Im recommending the second option but dont do physics sl Instead bio sl because u said ur bad in maths and physics have alot of maths, u dont need it, bio fits more into commerce students anyways:) Im also going for econs major btw but i took ess sl not bio sl, its kind risky but yes Ur ib combination for the second one is so same with mines except the science only kwkw
wait im confused, so you count all your points for your grade, and then wasn't it 3 more points: 1 for completing CAS, one for passing the TOK exhibition, and one for passing the EE? If i'm wrong pls tell me
You don't get a point for CAS. There is a grid that gives you a rough idea of how many points out of three you get based on your grades in TOK and EE, you can look it up. My raw scores in TOK and EE are both very close to the higher grade boundary though, so I got 2 points despite the grid saying I should get 1. Hope that made sense.
