Good evening Luis. You will really enjoy your Phrag....they are one of the easiest orchids to keep....they need plenty of good quality water...either rain or RO.....but you can let them dry out for a couple of days without doing them any harm.....take care, Ed.
I do believe your drip system is working well, all your phrags since growing this way have really taken off. I'm off to flush my phrags again Ed; roll on some rain we've had a sprinkling this morning and now the sun is beating down, maybe tomorrow we'll get some rain.
Thanks Margaret.. You wished for some rain yesterday......did you get enough today ?? I've had a few paphs outside in all that rain for a couple of days now and if we get a little bit of warm sun in the next day or so.....I will be able to hear them growing !!. Still enjoying your videod....thanks. Ed.
Hey Ed, it would very interesting to see if you wash out that substrat and see how the measured values are then in pure water. Maybe you can show that. Many thanks Jochen
Good evening Jochen.Do you mean you would like to see the tds and pH of the water after it has passed through the substrate. If I dismantled a plant and removed all of the substrate into RO water I think the tds would be much higher considering that The substrate is holding the fish/blood and bone. I will check the tds and the pH of the watering going in and compare it with the drips coming out of the pots. Ed
Love your phrags! I have just the one and while it seems healthy, it is growing slowly. I only water my orchids once every 7 or 8 days inside, more when I move them outside. Would you recommend watering every day, letting it run through as opposed to once a week soaking?
Sorry I'm a little late with my reply Denise. Regarding your Phrag try and water it every day if possible it not only will give the plant a much needed growth boost but will also do a very important job of keeping the roots cool. Ed.
Hi Barbara, Orchid leaves can only take up a certain amount of water and fertilizer. Over watering ( and under watering ) and supplying the plant with too much fertilizer will make the plants look like they have just been plucked from the wild and been in the sun for days on end. Very bad to describe the effects so if you want your plants to look nice and have beautiful roots go very easy on the fertilizer. Orchids will grow very well by just giving them clean water for many months but they will grow a little quicker with a splash of fertilizer Ed..
@@EdsOrchids Thanks for the answer. Some of mine got floppy leaves so I was wondering whether that might be the problem. I will cut back on the fertilizer and see if that resolves things.
Hi Crut Crut. If you give them good clean water all the time and the water is cool then the root growth should be like this in a couple of months. My water comes straight from the kitchen taps at 130ppm it is on the cold side but laced with O2 and it does the plants a power of good......They're on running water 24/7. Ed.
That's pretty warm Ynse...much too warm for me. We have had much lower temperature for the last couple of days with the max for next week being around 20c............hope you slept well in the heat !! Ed.

Eds Orchids Thank you, Ed! It has growths but progress was so slow.
@@dennisparker6827 Water it every day and don't worry about feeding////they don't need much and watch them grow fast.

I was wondering if you could clarify about the fertilizing at 1000 ppm. How does it affect the plant and in what way do the leaves look terrible?

Impressive root system. Hope the snails stay away from this paradise.
No signs of the creatures yet.......hope it keeps thar way.......might be a little too wet for them.
