Thanks Paul another good one. Saw the awful floods in North Wales on the Welsh news. I hope you and yours all ok. Also delighted to hear that the humble Denbigh plum has been given the cherished food status like Cornish pasty, Stilton cheese and Melton Mowbray pies. Well done and congratulations Denbigh!
Also, would you ever consider letting Alice in with you while making these videos? Our cat likes to hang out with me in the bathroom after I've had a shower. It seems to make him happy because his tail gets really bushy and he bats at me to pet em.lol
I totally have the same feeling with scents. Lavender reminds me of my Grandmother who is still with us, she gave my a bag of lavender and she told me when ever I can't sleep or miss her take a sniff and I'll feel better. You deserve all 12K+ subscribers!
Great shave, Paul. So enjoyable to see you get that excited over a scent. Last time you this excited over scent I think it was Grecian Horse from A&E. PAA soaps are great. I have 4 CK-6 soaps and they are fantastic.
Nice shave Paul, the CK-6 sounds great. I’m a bit late but congratulations on passing 12,000 subscribers, well deserved. What we love about your channel is that you just concentrate on having fun and doing what we all love, wet shaving, and you don’t try and make out that without you the earth would stop rotating. 😌👍
I love my DE89L Jagger, it was my very first razor to. I remember my grandfather shaving, and that brute smell always takes me back. Thanks Paul, enjoy your Sunday!
Razorine is actually quite fun to use. It's more aggressive than it appears just make sure to use very little pressure and grab bear the end when cutting sideburns and grip near the head when shaving everywhere else for better control. Oh and I've noticed it needs a little help with blade alignment so that's something to look out for.
Good evening Paul! I am a few days late here...better late than never, eh? Oh, I want this John Frum shaving soap and aftershave! I like to try the CK-6 formula soap base and I need a musky scent. Last year I wrote Edwin Jagger about their Zamak razor and when might they upgrade the cap bolt and handle screw to brass. Their reply was they are going to introduce an all metal (brass/stainless steel/other?) this year. I hope it shaves like the DE89. I can't wait. Good shaving razors they are. PAA makes some great products. I am partial to the aftershaves and they do have outstanding longevity. The Atomic Bay Rum aftershave lasts a good 8 hours and gets nice about an hour after application. I am ready to buy for sure. Another good value in shaving for me; Brazilian Gillette Platinum Plus DE blades. I have been averaging 15 quality shaves per blade. Just so you know, I don't push them...when they stop cutting efficiently I bin them! Some blades make it to 22 4-pass shaves and some don't even make to to 4-passes. Great shave as usual Paul. 5 months before I visit your piece of Wales...can hardly wait! Take care.
Been watching you vids from the start but only just signed up to make comments. Love the format, presentation and the flower displays. Really appreciate the work that you put into them. Been shaving with safety razors myself since 2008, love it. I'm from your neck of the woods by the sounds of it, St.Asaph
looking forward to the release of this from PAA. Great shave Paul!. I, too, remember the Remington electric razor commercial from the late 70's or early 80's. The guy's name if I remember was Victor Kiam. Don't know why that stuck in my head. Now to place an order for some Dorco blades.
Hi Paul- Great weekend shave and soap review today; thank you! The PAA CK-6 formula base is quite nice. I must give the Dorco Titan blades another try in different razors. Beautiful flowers from Mrs H, thank you! I hope you are having a relaxing weekend and are enjoying Sunday dinner! See you on Wednesday for the mid-week shave and all the best, Paul!
Terrific start to Sunday! I use the Crown King scuttle during the winter but with spring's arrival I'll retire it until late fall. No shave for me today for tomorrow in the post Taylor of Old Bond Street's Grapefruit arrives and I can't wait to try it! You can't beat aroma therapy for bring back memories. Once again you have outdone yourself Mrs. H! Hope you two have a great day. I am off to see what your pal Graham is cooking up. Take care, Ossie
That CK6 formula is great I got the Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements starter set with the CK6 barber shop soap and aftershave If any beginners are reading this look this set up Not being paid for these comments in any shape or form but this set is the best on market it has everything Also love the EJ DE89 what’s not to love do you remember years ago Sheffield steels reputation The Edwin Jagger is also made in Sheffield and are building there reputation as a quality product
Not watched shave yet but just commenting Glad it’s Sunday no rewind to Friday lol EJ DE89 are great 1st razor Yes scents totally agree I remember when I was a kid we would stay at Grans and sleep on her pillow and you felt totally at home I believe everyone has there own scent that’s why you can use the same soap or aftershave and it smells different on each person
Gr8 shave Paul 💈 You do make me laugh with your chin 'folds' 🤣 That shave soap def sounds like something Gavin would like 👍 Hope you enjoyed Lashentos as usual. Love Lamb 👍 Stunning flowers Mrs H 💐 Good job we can't reach through the screen!! You'd lose a few products every week 🤣💈Enjoy the rest of your weekend both 💈👍💐😊💈
Great shave Paul 👍 this soap and aftershave sounds right up my alley I’ll be buying it thanks for the great honest review. Our noses seem to be very similar in what fragrance we like. I have complete trust in you. Could you give the P.A.A SUN UP soap and aftershave a go again. It currently is my favourite. Cheers Paul pour a carling for me
Super shave Paul💈💈 The PAA CK-6 formula can take some water, just gets better the more you work it. Fantastic stuff and Douglas really knows his trade, scents are great to say the least😊 The EJ DE-89 head has a .72 blade gap, not exactly mild, but the forward blade exposure is such that it feels smooth and mild. (Feedback! you know it's cutting😉) Very nice razors for anybody really. Beautiful color from Mrs H this morning, thanks. Great video and reviews again👍 Enjoy!
Great shave! Ya know it’s funny, we say “I have enough...”, not gonna buy any more soaps, blades, razors...lol. Just picked up a new blade to try myself...the Gillette Nacet. Gonna give it a go later this morning after a bit of coffee. Have a wonderful day and God bless.
Oh my goodness!!! Just finished my first shave with the Nacet and WOW! And I might add, it paired extremely well with my ‘36 Gillette Aristocrat! Another new fav haha!
Hey, Paul, I just used my first CK-6. I used The Beach, which is great a unique scent that I recommend. Is Praise your favorite PAA scent or is there another you prefer? I want to order more soap, but I am trying to figure out what ones to start with, since they have so many. Thanks for your input and the videos. They are a delight.
great video and shave, i did shave yesterday but just watching you shave i wanna shave again but DE every day no go only using cartridge razor i can shave every day i know the feeling scents takes you back to an event or something in your life like i told you long ago Old Spice original reminds me of my grandfather lol i know ebay looking no dont need whooops clicked buy
Hey Paul it’s been a while lol. But I am catching up on the videos and before I started growing out my beard I loved using the Gillette slim adjustable and maybe it’s because my dad’s birth year razor and I love the fatboy and the shave it gives me I have tried those blades I only tried once have a great week and look forward to the mid week shave
Nice Shave Paul. I have a DE89 and it was my first razor. By the way, I just bought 2 Gillette Slim razors. One was a 63 and the other a 64. I am having both replated. One will be in nickel and the other in Rhodium. Don't know why I bought 2 but I did. They were both used but in very good condition. I can't wait to try them when I get them back. I used Back Roads Gold to re-plate them.
What temperature of water do you put in the scuttle? I was reading that I shouldn't go over 48 degrees Celsius, but I put in slightly lower, at the hottest that the tap in the U.S. would go and the lather didn't feel warm to me. If someone else besides the channel owner wishes to respond, that would be okay too. If you get the water hot enough that it will heat up the ceramic, then you won't want to mix lather inside it, because it would be hot to the touch. You'd have to mix the lather in a separate vessel, and transfer it over.
Hi Paul great video, and thank you for the tips on shaving my top lip and I will get some menthol shaving soap thank you again, I love the old scents old spice, brut, denim and so on, and I love woody and musky scents so that shaving soap would be right up my ally so when it comes on sale I hope I can buy some 😀 your recommendation on the Edwin Jagger me thinks I will get that instead of Merkur progress because my gut was telling me no no no not yet 😀 have a great Sunday and take care 😀
Thanks Mark, hope the lip tip works for you, the menthol soap if you try it with cold water, should ease the sensitive skin a bit for you, this razor is superb quality for the price, always get a good shave from it......I enjoyed your shaving video too :-)
Great shave as always Paul and great video, your not wrong with the DE89, was my first razor and always go back to it now when trying new blades ect. That John Frum is going to sellout quickly. Was wondering if you’ve tried there new mysterium serum? Hearing great things about it mate. The razorine has a safety bar so the blades not directly on your skin like a shavette, straight razor and it’s something I’d love to try too so can’t wait for that video mate. Have a good week 💈☺️👍💈
Douglas mentioned John Frum to me just prior to sending it out. I feel I have been set up! Now you and Kevy have both given it a thumbs up. Dang shaving budget. Now, about that mint jelly! Great meal right up to the last ingredient. Just me. Oh, I have been meaning to ask: It seems to me that when I use Thayers or Alum, and I do most of the time, I am wasting some of the beautiful benefits of a great shave soap like CK6. My skin feels so conditioned after just rinsing with water unless I have over shaved and feel irritation. Then I feel the Thayers or Alum is wise. Does that make any sense?
Enjoyed the video. Have been wet shaving for a few months now. Was wondering about your final pass, pick up time. It's my understanding that "pick up time" is to identify and clean up and areas that need additional attention. I notice that your pick up time always covers your neck area. Is that because that is your problem area?
Thank you Ron, yes the pick up time is to clean up any areas missed , my area is always the neck area, my beard grows in so many different directions there, hope you have many great shaves ahead Ron :-)
For those that don’t know, I’m in the process of reviewing all manor of shaving soaps and creams across the market. Many will be on the Razor Emporium site, PAA products on TH-cam for now. I try to standardize with 1-10 ratings (and 10 is essentially only theoretically achievable) and an overall shave grade. Lather: 9.25 Aroma: 9.5 Shave: A+ For a soap, this lathered incredibly. Perhaps not as quick as a cream but it isn’t long after loading the brush that the lather is buoyantly abundant. The aroma, oh my. This pulls off an enchanting old school barber’s scent meets contemporary musk scent magically. Sweet notes. The ambergris tincture behaves like true ambergris in that the scent lasts all day, giving little bouquets to the nostrils throughout. Musk can be like riding a rocket and can easily miss the mark. This does not miss. I can see this being on my short list of soaps in my rotation when I’m done taking dozens for the shave community team. That’s my verdict. Judge & Jury
I have issues going across the grain on my neck :( I have to go with and against eventually because I don't have the signature Paul H double chin :(. Maybe when I'm old though I'll join you in your pick up time!!
also when you use an aftershave say the tabac aftershave lotion and you are going out somehwere important, do you spray cologne on yourself as well or just the aftershave, or do you spray the cologne on the shaved area
Ck6 post shave is 2nd to none, friggin great...I find ck 6 to work best with boar or badger, cuz of insane thick lather... I do same thing u do, scoop in bowl....lots of water.... the well worn soft and floppy semogue 820 is perfect!!!!!!!! Synthetics don't work as good with this formula for me.... boar is perfect
You almost said Fat Paul, didn't you? Please take care of what you saying, you make TH-cam videos. Everybody can see them. 😂😂😂 Nice video as always! It's time to get a PAA soap! Cheers, Jens
Paul, this soap performs better or worse than the Ariana & Evans Asian Plum you tried? PS This specific soap is way too expensive I believe, the moment that Declaration Grooming & Barrister & Man are cheaper.
I would say they both perform fantastically, it would come down to the scent for me, and I would pick this scent, which is my personal favourite in any sort of scents woody, musky .....many thanks.
Good shave Paul...they make that bowl in plastic now..in case you drop it...I have a shave cream that smells like my old girlfriend. I have to hide it from Mrs T...or she would throw it away...lol..my second favorite razor the DE 89...have three now with different handle and grip...British Pride....soap seems to work well...I have a few things from Doug...but west coast shaving. Is my Fav shop...congrats no peas...👍...Evev used peanut butter (no nuts) On your neck...lots of oil really smooth..and the dog will lick your face all day...lol..kidding but the world is full of Things that will work as a shaving cream.....cheers!🇬🇧🇺🇸🐈🐈🐈🍺🍺🍺👍
In my opinion the Edwin Jagger DE 89 L is just as premium as the (______________________)and generally for a fraction of the price. ;-) [insert the name of ANY brand/razor*instructions for the those who don't get it] :P
Another great video Paul..... John frum Manchester,
See what I did then.... Lol
Lol.....nicely done John, this soap has your name on it :-)
Thanks Paul another good one.
Used my Christopher Bradley with the C plate for the first time yesterday and my God... I've been missing out! Phenomenal razor!
Sounds great Cody....many thanks :-)
The scent explanation is spot on,funny thing. Thanks,Paul always appreciate your perspective.👍
Also, would you ever consider letting Alice in with you while making these videos? Our cat likes to hang out with me in the bathroom after I've had a shower. It seems to make him happy because his tail gets really bushy and he bats at me to pet em.lol
I am surprised that you don't have a lot more subscribers.you have a very upbeat outlook.enjoyed your video as always.rhanks
Thank you Jim, I never honestly thought I would reach this milestone to be honest....amazing :-)

Thanks for the review. I was going to try Black Bot but after your review I think the smartest option is John Frum.
looking forward to the release of this from PAA. Great shave Paul!. I, too, remember the Remington electric razor commercial from the late 70's or early 80's. The guy's name if I remember was Victor Kiam. Don't know why that stuck in my head. Now to place an order for some Dorco blades.

What about the murkur razor?
I once ran out of witch hazel and found a lotion in Bodyshop Vitamin E Hydrating Toner, works a dream and gives the skin moisture.
Sounds good...many thanks :-)
PAA makes great stuff have you used their DOC Ascension razor. Thank you Mr. H wonderful video!
They do make great stuff, I have not tried that razor, looks nice though.....many thanks :-)
Nice Shave Paul. I have a DE89 and it was my first razor. By the way, I just bought 2 Gillette Slim razors. One was a 63 and the other a 64. I am having both replated. I liked your slight “miss jones” Leonard Rossiter impression! Great shave! 👍
Good old Rigsby...lol....many thanks Richard :-)

That is Victor Kiam!! Remington!!!! Fun fact, Victor Kiam did own the NFL TEAM New England Patriots many years ago.
Great soap, standard DE89 whats better than this?
Can't beat it can you...many thanks :-)
For those that don’t know, I’m in the process of reviewing all manor of shaving soaps and creams across the market. Many will be on the Razor Emporium site, PAA products on TH-cam for now. I try to standardize with 1-10 ratings (and 10 is essentially only theoretically achievable) and an overall shave grade.
Lather: 9.25
Aroma: 9.5
Shave: A+
For a soap, this lathered incredibly. Perhaps not as quick as a cream but it isn’t long after loading the brush that the lather is buoyantly abundant.

I want to try that soap but those blades felt scratchy to me. I'll give them another try in a different razor to see if I get a better result.
Hope they work in another razor for you....many thanks :-)
To pozdrowienia z Polski ✌️ dla wszystkich golibród ✌️
Good morning friend I know what you mean certain smells
Make you feel safe and enjoy your shave today
Thank you Jonathan, hope your having a great day :-)
I have issues going across the grain on my neck :( I have to go with and against eventually because I don't have the signature Paul H double chin :(. Maybe when I'm old though I'll join you in your pick up time!!
Yes, the signature double chin comes in handy...lol.
Cant understand what you were saying about the Aftershave when u put it on! Good or not??
Excellent.
also when you use an aftershave say the tabac aftershave lotion and you are going out somehwere important, do you spray cologne on yourself as well or just the aftershave, or do you spray the cologne on the shaved area
I usually add some aftershave just before heading out also yes.....on the face, neck and sometimes wrists ....thanks :)
It's interesting that the bowl is named after a small town in Arizona. Incidentally, my father-in-law used to call water, "Adam's Ale."
I used to hear Adam's Ale a lot when I was younger, by the elder members of the family.....thanks Michael :-)
PaulHFilms My father-in-law's father came from Sunderland, England. I'll bet he got it from him..probably an old UK term!
@@clontstable1 Yes, more than likely Michael, nice people up there, Sunderland.
PaulHFilms I enjoy your videos!😎😉
Merkur futur or muhle r41 which one will you use if were shaving a 7 day growth
Merkur Futur for that type of shave :)
Paul , you should try Shaverboy blades. They are my favorite blades and I would like your opinion of them. Awesome shave , keep the videos coming.
Not heard of them, sound interesting, thanks Dan. :-)
Where is smell’o’vision when we need it! :)
Haha, just when I typed this, you said it in the video.
Morning all :)
Morning Paul :-)
I think that's like getting hold of hens teeth I can't find that soap anywhere
Yeah, the good old DE89. Just curious, Paul, most yr dinner creations are meaty, don't y e3at fish as well? Cheers, Achim+
I love fish Achim, and had a Fish curry last night funny enough....many thanks :-)
Hmmm, yummy...
Paul It would not be the same. If You stopped saying its pick up time. lol. Love it great video.
Happy Saint Patrick's Day 🍀🍀🍀👍🍺🍻
Happy St Patrick's Day :-)
The quote about buying the company is from Victor Kiam. Fun fact: he once owned the New England Patriots!
😂😂😂
Nice video as always!
It's time to get a PAA soap!
Cheers,
Jens
+. Regards.
Happy ST. Patrick's Day
Happy St Patrick's Day :-)
PAA aftershaves aren't really aftershaves....they're practically Eau De Parfums.
They last quite some time too :-)
Good shave Paul...they make that bowl in plastic now..in case you drop it...I have a shave cream that smells like my old girlfriend. I have to hide it from Mrs T...or she would throw it away...lol..my second favorite razor the DE 89...have three now with different handle and grip...British Pride....soap seems to work well...I have a few things from Doug...but west coast shaving. Is my Fav shop...congrats no peas...👍...Evev used peanut butter (no nuts)
On your neck...lots of oil really smooth..and the dog will lick your face all day...lol..kidding but the world is full of
Things that will work as a shaving cream.....cheers!🇬🇧🇺🇸🐈🐈🐈🍺🍺🍺👍
Yes, I have that plastic bowl, travel bowl I think it is.....handy for not breaking....lol....have a good week Bill....thanks :-)
In my opinion the Edwin Jagger DE 89 L is just as premium as the (______________________)and generally for a fraction of the price. ;-) [insert the name of ANY brand/razor*instructions for the those who don't get it] :P
Nice shave Paul.
The Remington guy was called Victor Kiam. Here's a link to the advert you mentioned.
