I honestly don’t know who to believe both the Van Halen brothers shit all over Michael Anthony like he wasn’t part of the band when he was so much the sound So who really knows who is telling the truth. DLR is a whole different level of arrogance
I find it interesting how so many fans are reflexively believing Alex: The guy who stood by his brother, unquestionably, while he was routinely lying about Sammy (and Roth) and abusing Mike.
Their reunion that was going to happen in the mid to late 1990s didn't happen because of how Roth acted during an award show. He made it all about him.
That's what I say. That's why I'm a bit confused, because I don't know what Roth's reasons were for rejecting it, but I think a one off tribute show was a far better idea. A tour and rolling a film segment, just seems like a caravan show.
Seems like ego and nostalgia. Dude has the confidence of one hundred men, but the humility of what seems like none. You’re right, he’s just way out there now.
Sorry, but you cannot believe a thing either Van Halen brother says, or said, when it comes to past band mates because they were so petty and childish in their squabbles with them. That was a huge flaw of theirs. If your last name wasn't Van Halen, you held no value to them. Go watch some of the old interviews where they trash David, then praise him a year later, then trash him. They did the same thing with Sammy Hagar. They're worse than Dave Mustaine talking about the members of Metallica.
David Lee Roth was on Joe Rogan about 3 months ago & kept bringing up Alex listening in to the podcast. He talked about Alex like they were good friends that still talk & laugh together🙅♀️
@@FestivusMayberryYep that is what happened. Roth always about him and Sammy wanted it to be about the music. Sammy did the majority of the singing but he let Michael Anthony shine and Jason and Rai.
I first saw Van Halen in the summer of 1978 in the Super Dome, New Orleans, LA. Van Halen opened the Show and then the Doobie Brothers and then the Rolling Stones.
Well, this is Alex’s version. He and his bother have never been known for their credibility when talking about other people. And I love him lecturing Roth about him being a team player. Alex is all “team” if it’s his point of view. Any others and that person is wrong or an egomaniac.
Van Halen is Van Halen Bro band as AC/DC is Young Bro band. Every other guy is/was an employee in these bands and has to know it. Even the best hard n heavy singer ever Bon Scott. David Lee Roth was obviously done during the last Van Halen tour. Completely done. Zero voice. Only clowning. And that was about 12 years ago. Only his narcissism was present. It is mind-blowing that a real musician will ask to go on tour with him. This is only about money. And did Alex invite Michael Anthony? Or the guy who actually still has a voice - Sammy Hagar? What a mess!
You must like people that have egos. And really can’t sing. And talks so much slang that he thinks people know what he’s talkin about, Dave just makes himself look stupid. I watch any interview of Dave and he’s all ego. And watch an interview of Alex and ya see no ego. Plus it was Dave’s idea to name the band. And Dave’s first audition, Ed hit one note on a piano an Dave could NOT sing it. True story buddy boy. He weaseled his way into the band cuz VH bros rented his P.A. and Dave said I’ll charge ya less for renting the P.A. if I can sing a couple songs…..pfff! ✌🏼
Nah, he knows there’s no Van Halen without Eddie. Alex probably knows that too. These are two 70 year old men. They are creating buzz around the book. If Alex really thought a tribute show or tour would be viable, I would have very little respect for him. Best way to honor EVH is to never replace him and never perform as Van Halen again
Listen to the Brian Young Tone Talk episode and he tells some Dave stories. Brian was his guitar player from the early 2000s and he said Dave is just really weird and really bi-polar.
Sean. In my opinion, YOU NAILED IT EXACTLY...!!!! There is evidence that supports your theory. Ie , Sammy offered to do something together during the Sam and Dave tour after Kid Rock ( I believe it was KR ) talked to the both of them. DLR initially said yes sitting there with Sammy and Kid Rock, just to appease it seems. When it came time to do it DLR backed out. Dave knows his voice is, well not nearly what it used to be. He won't allow anything to show him up. Can't blame him there. Unfortunately, he underestimates his fans. We realize no one beats father time. Maybe Elvis would have if he made it into his 60's plus. He was blessed with chops that never missed. Pardon my tangent, but Sean you spot on. One thing I don't understand, why would Dave reject the idea of doing something to recognize and honor Eddie. Makes no sense. Did he think Alex wanted to just start touring again. Odd. Dave , we love ya man but ......
Nah, he just knows a tribute show is destined to be lame. It sucks that Eddie’s story came to such an abrupt end 4 years ago, but there is no Van Halen without him and Dave maturely knows this. Of course Dave would love to perform and have any excuse to, but not under these circumstances.
@@TheLastWordWithBob those happened quickly. And they died relatively young. You would think Eddie would have been celebrated already. Maybe because of the pandemic. Van Halen will always be the most unpredictable band.
I understand Roth wanting to be the center of attention while up on stage but you would think he would totally understand Alex wanting to have a special tribute in Eddies memory during the show as well. I think Roth blew a fuse during his and Alex's conversation just in the heat of the moment maybe Alex or multiple people had been mentioning Eddies name all day long and Roths blood pressure had been slowly building up every time someone mentioned Eddies name and he probably was sick of hearing it so when Alex just happened to bring up Eddie to Dave at the wrong time Roth lost it? Who knows. I've already accepted that we'll probably never get to see Dave and the Van Halens on stage together ever again but at least I got to see them all together like 10 times in Concert while Eddie was still around so those were the best shows anyway. It is what it is. Dave has his reasons I'm sure and what goes on in his mind we'll probably never fully understand. All we can do moving forward is enjoy all the great tunes they made for us all to listen too. 🎸
@@adamsuarez5619 I get your perspective Adam. I admit I am into all VH stuff. Music and news. They were part of our youth in a big way. We were proud that we had Eddie in the band we claimed. I guess kinda like a NY Giants fan can say they had the best defensive player ever in Lawrence Taylor. Bragging rights. Plus DLR is nuts. He keeps us scratching our heads .
Like him or hate him, David Lee Roth will always be the ONLY front man for Van Halen. Sammy Belcher would have already been a complete has been if it wasn't for the money & fame he received fronting Van Halen. Those David Lee Roth years sold more album than what Sammy Belcher has made in his entire lifetime. That's including his solo career, Van Halen & everything he's ever recorded since then. Roth had a short, but successful solo career. But as great as Steve Via is, he's NOT "Eddie Van Halen." And the ONLY person worthy of actually, playing guitar for a "Eddie Van Halen" tribute concert is Wolf. And if he's not onboard and from what I heard "He is not wanting to do it." & Alex has stated multiple times that he's not interested in doing it. So people should leave the family alone about doing a tribute. It's not Dave that's the problem. I'm sure there's a lot of people in this world that could sing Classic VH tunes. But who's actually worthy to stand up there in Eddie's place? IMO Only "WOLF" is truly worthy. Eddie wouldn't want anyone else on that stage doing it. Eddie would also be highly offended, if people did a tribute without Alex on drums. Alex should have full say over everything Van Halen. Dave should have say over the tunes that he wrote. He also plays guitar. Alex, Michael and Dave are the "Original" lineup. Mike, I think many of us would love to see him back on bass, and vocals. Dave, Everyone would love to see him onstage if he put his talents over his "Steve Martian" impersonations like he's trying to do the "Wild & Crazy guys" skit. Wolf, he's a class act. Awesome guy and can play just like Eddie when he chooses to. He learned a lot from Eddie. He also practiced his ass off. Even though many people these days can play Eddie's stuff, Only Wolf is truly worthy IMO. Alex. Eddie dying was possibly the hardest loss of Alex's entire life. Eddie wasn't just his brother, he was his best friend. Great drummer and groove maker. But the "Tribute" tour is up to him. (Alex, Don't blame Dave, Just Own Your Decision)
The VH band is over and that's that. Let's all get over it, okay? It was great in the late 70s and 80s. That's about it. Being one of the best known rock bands on Earth for several decades with unimaginable $ should be enough for them and hey, we still have the records and videos!!!!
For everyone criticizing Roth, the telling points about this interview (if you actually read the whole thing instead of just listening to some TH-camr): 1) While Alex loved his little brother with all his heart, he was often frustrated by his behaviour, and they argued and fought ALWAYS 2) Alex was closest with DLR, and basically says the 4 original members were the only real VH. 3) He says he still is in touch with Roth and has nothing but respect for him. 4) He doesn't even mention Hagar by name, EVER. In fact, he refuses to. My take from all of this is EVH was unfortunately incredibly difficult to work with, and Roth probably took the brunt of it during their career together, and has never gotten over it, and has never forgiven Ed. And I think Alex understands that perspective. Bottom line - none of us were there, none of us know them, and none of us can truly understand what it was like to be in that band.
Alex never mentions Gary Cherone's name either. Is he also pissed at Gary's contribution on Van Halen III? Alex can't hold a grudge forever. He getting older each day. One thing is certain. NOBODY is going to organize a tribute show of any kind for Alex(sub par talented, coattail riding bro of Eddie) Van Halen
@@davidbuswa9425 He never mentioned any other singer because it never felt like Van Halen to him again. Your last sentence is just embarrassing, and not even wirth a response. Grow up.

Wolf as you said would do a good job. I love VH and would love to see them keep on going... Even if it's with Wolf... Maybe even write their own new stuff.
@@SteveLNew Van Halen died with Eddie, period. I’d like to see them release remastered early concerts and albums with bonus tracks/outtakes every few years, but there is no point in continuing the band.
He claims Roth was adamantly against any type of tribute, but doesn't say "why" DLR had a problem with it. He could have had some very valid reasons for not wanting to do it. I hate one-sided stories.
Alex is a notorious liar so maybe this happened. Alex is the douchebag that wouldn't clear songs that Sammy wrote to be in his documentary, Sammy helped arrange the songs and wrote all the lyrics and Alex still said no, F him for that and many other things that will probably be mentioned by others in the comments.
Alex probably had his reasons. You know Sammy talked a lot of shit about the brothers too. I'm not taking a side. All of them are insane except whatshisface.
I have been a VH fan since 1978. Love all of the members, and Alex is my favorite drummer. However, I have learned over the years that often, when there is a disagreement, Alex tends to twist facts to benefit hom and win fans to his side. So, what happened? We don't know for sure. But I know better than to take Alex's words as fact. There usually is a different kind of truth. Remember, originally he said Roth quit VH to be a movie star. We all know now that isn't true. Alex doesn't even say that anymore. They just were having trouble getting along, and VH gave him an ultimatum, but he wanted to keep working. I doubt Roth didn't want to acknowledge Eddie. Maybe it was some bizarre way Alex wanted to do it. I'd like to hear Roth's side.
Dave's fight with Wolfgang makes total sense. Dave has always understood that music is also a business. The Van Halens never have. If you don't make money, no matter how good you are, there quickly comes a point when you can't continue commercially. It makes no sense career-wise to go into debt to the tune of millions of dollars like Van Halen did with Warner Bros after the first album. Most bands never recover from going into debt that far on their first album. From that point on you are touring and recording albums just to pay off your debt and music goes from being a joy to being a tedious job. I've known LOTS of musicians who stick their head in the sand and won't acknowledge the business side of music. I didn't care how great of a musician they were... if they wouldn't live in reality and acknowledge we had to make money they were out of the band. I don't have time to waste paying off debt or living in cover band hell. I want music to always be a joy. According to Dave, Wolfgang was making bad music decisions that were guaranteed to NOT sell records. Of course Dave is going to get annoyed with a kid who is where he is because of nepotism, especially when that kid is screwing up his earning potential. Dave kept quiet for two years to allow Wolfgang to mourn. That was a classy move. But there comes a time when the truth has to be told. According to Dave, Wolfgang was pulling garbage like kicking a woman he thought was Dave's girlfriend out of a show to teach him some lesson... but it was really the accountant. According to Dave in one of his recent podcasts, Ed was broke after his divorce and borrowed a million dollars from him. Everybody rips on David Lee Roth, but everybody is also secretly glad that Dave watched the bottom line and understood the music business and they all got rich because of it. Everybody likes Dave when they are broke and need a loan. Like Dave pointed out recently... Wolfgang's second album bombed commercially. Maybe if Wolfgang had listened to Dave and learned from him what makes an album succussful it wouldn't have tanked. (Then again, Wolfgang probably doesn't care that his album bombed commercially since he's already rich and can sit at 5150 and make vanity records for the rest of his life. Wolfgang doesn't have to pay for studio time or to buy instruments and gear. Most other musicians aren't in that position.) Why should Dave take crap from some kid? Sure, we all feel sorry for Wolfgang about losing his dad, but has Wolfgang shown Mr. Roth the respect he deserves?
The Van Halens did know the industry was a business. They have an interview with a radio host named Nash from the 90s where they discuss this very thing and they also mentioned their father as well. Your point is still well made tho. "Dave has always understood that music is also a business. The Van Halens never have."
@@scott7521 maybe, but it's his whole personna and mannerisms combined. Idk if it's the gay thing or if it's just because he's a really weird guy. He's great on the VH albums, though
Dave is the first person Alex called when Ed died. They are as close to brothers as anyone can be. The way Alex talks about Dave is not much different than the way he talks about Ed. I'm sure Dave is difficult to tolerate at times but there is a reason him and Dave are still close. (Alex won’t even utter Hagar’s name. “The heart and the soul and the creativity and the magic was Dave, Ed, Mike, and me." From Rolling Stone Oct 15 2024)
100%. Alex knows how Dave respects Eddie. And how loyal Dave is to the Van Halen legacy. Dave is restraining him from performing a show under the Van Halen name even ONCE without Eddie because he knows it would ruin the legacy and make them look cheap. Dave is a perfectionist in this business. He’s right on the money. I think Alex did right by his brother putting out the book. That’s all that’s needed. I’ll always be grateful I saw Van Halen in Paso Robles and at their very last concert at the Hollywood Bowl.
Creating controversy and interest for book sales is nothing new as a marketing tactic. The truth is, both sides were flawed within the band. It’s ironic however, that out of everyone in the band, Alex was always in touch with Roth. While David is an eccentric personality, he has also expressed his heartfelt feelings regarding Edward Van Halen as an integral part of his life. There’s more to these statements than meets the eye. Nobody really knows the entire story.
It sounds so improbable. How could anyone hope to do a reconstituted tour or show and NOT mention EVH? Why would Alex ask such an obvious question that didn't need asking and why would DLR so violently decline? The story makes no sense.
It just boils down to how either person grew up and their family life. From what I’ve read Roth’s home was tense because his dad was going thru med school and his mother was growing tired of struggling and caused a lot of friction. Whereas the Van Halen’s were close knit , like a unit . The personalities that evolve from those 2 situations couldn’t be more different-in most ways
Wait? ..Dave didn't want to mention Eddie during the "Eddie Van Halen tribute shows"? That's utterly absurd. What a j*ck*ss. Unreal even for Dave. He's out to lunch
@@Rob-dp3vr I mean, WHY would you believe Dave? So far, Alex and Wolfgang have confirmed something that sounds TOTALLY probable, as Roth was ALWAYS competing (and losing) against Eddie. Could Eddie be a jerk? Yup. Alex? Yup, but Dave is not exactly known for being reasonable either...
@@Rob-dp3vr The fans are already on Alex's side. He doesnt have to twist or hyperbolize anything Dave says or does because Dave has been doing that for himself for 46+ years. If there's more to the story..we'll find out eventually.
I love the gesture that Alex thinks he can, street style, beat a black belt's ass in David Lee Roth. I seriously doubt it bro. Sure seems interesting that after all these years of silence, where you basically only heard from David or Eddie, suddenly now, quite man Alex is popping off to sell his book. He sold or is selling all his old drum kits too. So overall, just some very strange behavior from Alex. I realize his brother dying has him messed up inside. They all need to bring this back to the reason this all started in the first place. Go back to the roots, make amends with Michael & Sammy and make this happen for the people that made you all famous and rich in the first place...the FANS!! Put your damn egos aside and make this be about Eddie, and the people that bought all your albums and concert tickets since the late 70's.
What the hell does DLR have to do with tribute for Eddie? Get Sammy or any other lead singer. Van Halen has never been shy about owning their stuff. I don't understand.
because there is bad blood with Sammy too. Alex Van Halen won't even say Hagar's name. They are all such a bunch of bitter people. And without both Roth and Hagar .....what kind of VH tribute could they really do?
@@TheLastWordWithBob they all have their own point of view/side of the story. And there will undoubtedly be bias, and some conflicting information about events. But yes.....the VH brothers have not behaved like angels either. There is no shortage of dirt to go around. What amazes me is how BITTER they all are.
Yea good point OP. I think a tribute to Eddie should just be a bunch of guitarists trying (and probably failing) at emulating Eddie’s guitar style to his songs. It should be about guitarists. Dave’s a genius keeping himself out of it. He knows his schtick will distract from the point of such an event.
That's like when the surviving members of Queen got together to write a song about Freddie Mercury. If David was in the room... He would of made the song about him .. 😂
Dave's day in the sun has come and gone. Who in their right mind, after sharing a stage with Eddie, wouldn't want to pay tribute to the reason anyone even knows your name? Dave deserves to disappear into obscurity.
@@mijlaid My first VH concert was their first ever show at the Hollywood Bowl, which would end up being their second to last show ever. I grew up in the Van Hagar era, and though I absolutely love the DLR VH albums, I was having a hard time taking him seriously at the Bowl show. Eddie, Al, and Wolf were awesome, but I kept wishing that Sammy had been on stage and not Dave. Terrible singing and more like an over-the-hill Vegas performer than the great frontman he was in the early years. Elderly Dave has become a joke.
Dlr is the reason they blew up, after they broke up dlr was making hits and vh went to shit , Eddie had a big ego , he hated anything he wasn't getting attention
lol - DLR literally dragged Ed into the spotlight and turned VH into the one of the biggest bands in the world. After reading the whole interview, I have to believe working with EVH was pretty frustrating and literally traumatic. THere's n way there's that much anger and resentment still left in Roth to believe otherwise.
Nah, Alex and Dave are sitting back somewhere laughing and having a beer. A good story sells books. Besides, forget the tribute tour. Make a film like The Who’s The Kids are Alright. Show footage from the first 6 tours, show interviews, tell the story of the band, and give tribute to EVH through the film. That’s how you do it.
The part about grieving the loss of his brother is obviously valid, but the VH brothers were just as responsible as anybody else for a lot of the drama. After all, why were the only ones who showed up to the Hall of Fame induction Sammy and Michael? Why did they feel the need to screw Michael out of his share of the band? Why did they initially get back together with Dave behind Sammy's back? And, for Christ's sake, why are they sitting on so much unreleased material? They have to realize (Wolfie especially) that eventually the people who would be most interested in listening to that music are going to die off, too. Might as well release it now while there are still fans around to enjoy it!
Eddie And David never truly got along infact the only person that Eddie ever got along with in vanhalen was Alex so it doesn’t surprise me that David didn’t want to do a show.
Sammy & Micheal would do it! Alex should get with them. Eddie should have a tribute. He was a musical genius. Fans are loving reunions. David is all about himself & doesn’t want to be outshined.
There are better ways to honor EVH that don’t rely on Roth playing nice. He’s not even worth the effort. He sounds like shit now and hasn’t had any decent vocals for years now. He showed that when VH did the live reunion performance on Jimmy Kimmel and DLR almost killed himself twirling the mic stand and smashed himself in the face.
Read the entire rolling stone article. Alex still talks to Dave even after that interaction. What's interesting is alexs' complete and utterly disdain for Sammy. He doesn't even name him. That is some serious bitterness
If this is true, I think I know why DLR rejected the whole Eddie montage in the middle of the show: it just goes from party party party with the music to a depressing slideshow of Eddie. It kind of brings depressing energy to a party band. I wouldn’t want to see that in person. I want the vibes to be good. There’s really no way to do that without Eddie there and everyone together, and DLR knows that. DLR is a master at how the performance is timed and feels. There’s no way this show can be pulled off in a tribute format, sounds lame af. Alex thinks it’s a good idea, we’ll, he wants to honor his brother, I get it. But Alex isn’t aware how lame it will be once people are checked out or crying that EVH is gone during the middle of the show. It doesn’t work. Please don’t be Pantera or any other these other tribute bands. No Dimebag or EVH, no Pantera/Van Halen.
DLR is and always has been an egomaniac. The funny part is that he is a very average vocalist that was surrounded by extremely good talent, which made him look much better than the lounge singer that he is. Sammy took VH to the next level because he allowed the band to go different directions artistically, rather than doing a bunch of cover songs, as DLR is famous for.

If I were AVH I’d be p¡ssed too - ANYBODY WOULD!!!! There’s no way the fans would even understand showing up to a show and seeing not one tribute to the most popular member - the namesake of the band. Roth criticizing the last album pissed me off. Like, the overly processed vocals (cause Roth is near incapable of singing well now) were the biggest issue for me.

It's because of Alex's new book.
I'd say they owned the 90s as well. Sammy was a huge part of that sound machine. After he left the band was done.
For everyone criticizing Roth, the telling points about this interview (if you actually read the whole thing instead of just listening to some TH-camr):
1) While Alex loved his little brother with all his heart, he was often frustrated by his behaviour, and they argued and fought ALWAYS
2) Alex was closest with DLR, and basically says the 4 original members were the only real VH.

David Lee Rooth nerved quite understood that he just tagged along for the ride. If you remove Eddie and/or Alex there’s no Van Halen. Simple as that.
@Aright231 -
Yours is the explanation that makes the most sense!-I believe it.
No body ever played the electric guitar like Eddie before him, but everybody attempts to copy him NOW! Reminds me of the great Albert Nelson King.
Can’t blame reunion not happening on Dave, you just leave him out. Alex and Eddie did Michael dirty, don’t trust anything they have ever said.

He sold or is selling all his old drum kits too. So overall, just some very strange behavior from Alex. I realize his brother dying has him messed up inside. Go back to the roots, make amends with Michael & Sammy and make this happen for the people that made you all famous and rich in the first place...the FANS!!

Some people are known to tickle the ivory. Eddie Tickled the Nickel.
Whether Eddie was one thing or another, Dave jumped the shark a long time ago. Really a shame.
There's no point in a tribute show when the real talent is not there.
nothing but love for Alex one of my favorite drummers
its wild, ive talked to Alex about 8-10 times at a few different automobile race tracks around socal (while racing cars), Alex and his son Malcom would drive Spec Porsche Boxsters at the local tracks .. I also talked to Eddie once at willow springs race track, ... Alex was always super nice and Eddie made me feel like we were friends..He literally talked to me, interacted and asked me questions like I was his respected friend and it felt like he was totally together mentally and a warm old school rock artist dude who only said things that mattered.. He would go take naps times if he was visiting his brother at the track so i thought maybe he had a health issue or was just not in great physical shape .. I also met and spoke to David in 2001 at a production company for tour merch, he was doing the art for his shirts that were sold during his solo tour in 01/02.. A customer and myself went into the art room and wanted to interact or just see him up close (our boss at the tie said dont bother him he was working with the graphic artist) .. We were in there and looking at a pantone book picking a color for our project, or pretending to do so, David looked at us and said (in his wild voice while smoking a stress joint), , 'hey guys its alright! , IM DIAMOND DAVE', and gave his weird party look to us, it was amazing he was trying to be warm and make us feel comfortable like its ok to talk to me we're just hanging out vibes .. He was cool too but different and craved different attention than the chill van halen brothers .. All three super smart badass dudes , Dave is so intelligent but off the chain and the wild personality . Too bad this situation happened to Alex
David Lee Roth is a Narcissist. He had a narcissistic injury at the notion of the spotlight going away from him.
Respect Alex! I’m sorry for your loss, your band has been in my ears through the great times and the worst of times and Edward has always been my hero and the reason I picked up a guitar. I can’t wait to read your book and god bless you and your family thank you for the music and whatever you choose to do in the future, Im behind you all the way god knows you have earned it! Just promise me that you will keep on playing, you gotta keep on playing. Peace and love man!
Well Sammy said it, "Dave is a wierd dude" Yeah get Sammy and let Dave and his ego disappear
He literally doesn’t even mention Hagar’s name in the book-not once.
Ain’t gonna happen
@@glengamble526 Alex also never mentions Gary Cherone's name either. Does he have a beef with Gary too?
@@davidbuswa9425I’m curious too. Even though VH3 was unliked by most, Cherone has always been amazingly cool. Every thing I’ve read said that Ed loved the guy as well. The music was meh, but Gary was a good friend
@@davidbuswa9425 true, but they did ONE album with him-and it bombed. They did several with Sammy that were multi-platinum.
@@glengamble526 To me it wasn't a bomb. Van Halen III was a good album. It had a great sound. They hired Gary because he could hit the high notes like Sammy. The Van Halens wanted to recreate the 5150 album, vibe
Well there have been rumors and stories for years that Dave is bi-polar. I don't know who to believe and the more time that goes by the less I care. We still have the music. I just hope they start releasing some songs from the 5150 vault 🤘🤘🤘
I've always thought David Lee Roth is a jerk! He's disgusting! He can sing great but he is a legend in his own mind!!
I'm not defending Dave, in fact in recent years his lost the plot. They seemed to get on well from 1974 to about 1984. That's show biz.. r u still friends with any people u met in 1974?
Sing great? Roth ? Like now ??! 😂
Could sing...
If that was true and Alex really wanted to make those tribute shows, he would have called Sammy and Michael after that.
DLR thinks he's some kind of god....
His ego is bigger than his bank account. 🤷🏻
Sammy and Michael did one hell of a tribute on the last tour.
Roth wrote lots of great van halen lyrics and put on a great show! Its over now. Let it go.
The only person that would be shocked to find out David Lee Roth was responsible for the tours not happening is David Lee Roth.
I met Diamond Dave a couple of years ago. He walked into the Cafe I worked at around 7:00am. He was the coolest and nicest guy. It was just him and I talking for a while. He was cracking me up. Super cool vibes.
Great content as always.
The band is called VH? I understand DLR suggested the name, but we all know EVH made that band - how dare DLR throw a full blown tantrum about performing a celebration of life to memorialize the person who ultimately put him in the position he’s in today!!!! If I were AVH I’d be p¡ssed too - ANYBODY WOULD!!!! There’s no way the fans would even understand showing up to a show and seeing not one tribute to the most popular member - the namesake of the band. DLR has always been extremely narcissistic and self absorbed. That’s not uncommon for lead singers, but this is ridiculous!!! The Stones memorialize Charlie Watts beautifully, and like you said…even to this day Queen pays tribute to Freddie!!! DLR is gonna come out with his side of the story soon.
This video could've been two minutes long.
Does Dave not understand that no one would know who he is without Eddie?
Actually, other way around
I'll listen to this for free somehow, not gonna pay money for it.
A Drummer is a Drummer unless You are Bonham But Still Axl Rose or David Lee Roth will always be The Face and The Charisma and Voice of the band 💯
Couldn't have said it better
Roth criticizing the last album pissed me off. Like, the overly processed vocals (cause Roth is near incapable of singing well now) were the biggest issue for me. Saying those albums were Dead on Arrival sucks because this was pretty much the only Van Halen album release I got to properly experience in my lifetime.
Good for book sales.. perfect timing!😂
Are we automatically believing Alex? Seems kinda not trustworthy.
Tribute shows. How ridiculous
Your mom is ridiculous
I'm 48 I grew up with Van Halen I always thought David Lee Roth was a joke and he still is! Van Hagar rules!
David is a narcissistic washed up has been. He's just gelous that the whole show wasn't going to be centered around him. Call Sammy, and Michael I'm sure they would love to do it. Plus I would rather see them on stage than Dave.
Wow, sounds exactly like Van Halen!
I can’t stand David as a person but he was a good singer
Watch Jimmy Kimmel live.. Dance the Night Away .. you'll change your mind 🎤
He was a good front man.. he was an adequate singer
In 1979 maybe
@@seabassseabass8835That was funny as hell when he almost knocked himself out twirling the mic stand!
"WAS" is the opportune word.
Dave wants to make it about him, yet he cant hold a note. 🤦♂️
There would not be van halen without eddie and Alex van halen including Wolfgang van halen
My God man. You spent 75%+ of the video repeating yourself.
Back in the day Dave was a good singer n showman, but he's always been a shitty person with a shitty attitude!!! He would be NOWHERE without Eddie... they shoulda done the tribute without Dave!!! RIP EVH 🕊🎸🤘🏻💜
