How do you sharpen the front edge?

Do you bother with lapping these stones? Or doing any sort of maintenance on them?

Yes, these stones came with a small lapping stone, and I have also used sandpaper for lapping, works well.

Would these stones work well for a CRK that is S45VN?

I would say yes, for sure. S45VN is similar to S35VN, and I have sharpened steels like D2 and Elmax with these stones with no problems.
