The ninth wave is my most favourite piece/piece's of music by Kate iv listened to it from being 14 and in now 52 and still love it still get shivers down my back 👍
For those of you who have immersed themselves in this masterpiece it's already known how magnificent this piece of music is. For those who haven't it's very difficult to recruit you to experience it without you thinking it's not for you or it belongs to another time. All I can say is don't short yourselves of genius... don't deprive yourself of the aural luxury and cinematic mind scapes so rich that it's hard to distinguish which reality you'd rather stay in.
I listened this all the way through, and was going to replay some of the beginning again just to check something, and ended up listening to the whole thing all the way through a second time. I just couldn't resist. What can I say, it's always had that effect on me.
Thank you so much for this complete "Ninth wave" B-side, one of the most amazing sequence of interconnected tracks in "Pop music" history, an intense/immersive musical and emotional experience... Kate Bush's Art at his Best !
Yes indeed. Genius is our Kate. 2023 now and still trying to figure out how she did Hounds Love into Ninth Wave. Dream of Sheep etc is sublime! Some of the sounds she's got going (6:00 eg!)
Hey man. I thought that I was the ultimate Kate admirer until You! Friggin amazing what you have done! I'm a 60 year old guy living in western Sydney who has listened to EVERYTHING by Kate since I was 16 years old. I want to respect her privacy but I've never SEEN most of the photographs you made into a movie of the Nonth wave! Well done man !!!
This has been one of my favourite albums since it was first released. It seems to get better and better as the years pass me by.Thank you Kate and thanks for uploading .The photos ate beautiful
It's also the first ever album to use the Fairlight digital sampler, which at that time was proper Cutting-edge tech, now universally used due to its ease of use ( literal cut n paste of sounds). Point being, Kate stood out through sheer talent, and THIS album showcased perfectly how neat the Fairlight was. If memory serves, soon after this album's success, Dave Stewart ( Eurythmics) was so impressed he used Fairlight on Everything ( to be fair, he made good use of it) Sorry to bang on , but Kate's quite the smart artist. . .
The story as I heard it (and it may not be correct) is that the first song is about a woman adrift in the sea, perhaps after a ship sunk. The "little light shining" is a flashing light attached to her life vest. The lyrics are about a part of her wishing to fall asleep and succumb to hypothermia (Kate actually suffered from hypothermia while shooting the video), and as I once read, and the part of her who was fighting tp stay alive. The rest of the pieces are dreams and visions she was having while she was fading out. "Hello Earth" could perhaps be interpreted as her final surrender. It is one of the best musical pies of the last 50 years.
Oooo, I have this on vinyl (1st pressing) it made my mind wobble a little bit - tears in my eyes then (all my vinyl is stored somewhere - must go look), and now again….
Loved this album when it first came out and it is still as amazing. As is the incredible work you put into the visuals on this video. Thank you so much.
The story goes that, as a child, Kate would go to her parents bedroom whenever she had a bad dream and stand next to her Mother's side until her presence woke her. When she told her mother of her dream, she'd lift the blankets and say "Come here with me now". That's her mother @ 1:03
It's amazing that she was so sensitive as a child waking from a bad dream - that she didn't want to disturb her sleeping mother. So she waited, as you point out. As a kid I had no problem disturbing my mother after having a bad dream - crying, shrieking etc. Kate seems to have been so evolved spiritually at such a young age...I'll never get there.
With all the new found success of "Running Up That Hill" from that song being used on "Stranger Things" I wanted to revisit "The Ninth Wave". And wow! "Waking the Witch" IS the sound of "Stranger Things" series 4. I am more than a little jealous of those listening to "Hounds of Love" for the first time now when they hear "Witch" and think similar things :)
I'm so glad Kate never did get around to making the music video short film to go with this, her absolute masterpiece (imo). I do recall hearing an interview at the time in which she vaguely explained it all, but I've forgotten all detail and I have no interest in looking it up now. It must "be left to my imagination".
Terry Gilliam was tipped to direct it and he'd probably have been a great choice, but for whatever reason it didn't happen. I agree with you - the music is so evocative that you can make up little videos in your head for each bit of the recording.
I would play the Ninth Wave every Sunday morning. This is my religion.

All albums of Kate are Genius. Hounds of love is from another world. I know Kate since the Dreaming. She is so beautiful and magical. Kate forever ❤🎉

There is nothing that comes close to this absolute genius.. After all these years " there's something moving" sends a shiver down my spine!
Tori Amos does alright.

Isn't it!!! Hello Earth puts you in a trance, then The Morning Fog is like being pulled out of that very same trance

С годами Кейт воспринимается все лучше и лучше
Thank you ☮️ ❤️ 🏴
a symphonic poem, splendidly accomplished
Actually, a song cycle.

the 2nd half of an amazing album...splendid!
Wonderful to see those images of Kate along with her incredible music, thanks !
Thank you! This is the first time I've seen this whole piece of music uploaded to TH-cam, instead of as separate tracks.
Oooo, I have this on vinyl (1st pressing) it made my mind wobble a little bit - tears in my eyes then (all my vinyl is stored somewhere - must go look), and now again….
thank you so much - this has to be heard all in one piece

Beautiful presentation. Audio and visual.

the guys that make the music for stranger things have had to been inspired by Kate Bush
Yep, wish I could listen to this all over again. 'Hello EARTH!' She's genius level. Gilmour saw it early on
Our Flag is Death on HBO used some sections of this.
I used to wake my kids to waking the witch id set my cd player to slowly get louder 😊😉
Why is she so wonderful? (Helicopter from Pink Floyd’s The Wall.) 😘
Brilliant 🌹

The ninth wave is a Russian artist oil painting..
It's from Tennyson and Irish mythology
Shame you monetised your channel, the adverts really spoil the experience.
I didn't , in fact... I'm surprised that the video hasn't been removed due to copyright 🤷🏻♀️
