In this video, we look at how a Christian can overcome sin. The Bible tells us to live holy because God is holy, but we are not perfect...So how can we stop sinning over and over again? We have to turn to God's word to see what the bible says about how we can overcome sin.
There are many Christians who struggle to overcome sin. Their sinful habits are strong because they do not know how to walk in the Spirit.
If we try to overcome sin by acting through our fleshly nature, we will fail. We will continue to sin over and over again in the same sin. We have to learn how to think and act through our new spiritual nature and then we will not continue to sin.
Temptation is all around us, it will not stop, so focus your thoughts on God and to grow spiritually every day. The more you focus on God, the less you will sin. But watch the full video where I explain this in more detail

If this is true, then I have not yet been born again but am a false convert even though the fruit of the spirit is in my life and the tares of sin are diminishing. I have been delivered from much and many sinful things that I used to do I am no longer apart of. Yet I still sin because certain sins are stronger than others and it is exceedingly difficult for me to stop them even though I try my best and give 100% in effort. If I have been deceived that I am born again, then God have mercy on us all for what mortal man can withstand such great deception?!!! To think that Satan can diminish your sin and make you bear the fruits of righteousness just to deceive you, if this is true then there's no hope for there is no way to know for certain if it is God who you know or Satan. I can't agree with this if for no other reason then my own sake, I must have assurance of my rebirth I must know God.

Now.....have you accepted Jesus as your Savior, and for who has taken away your sin by his blood? If so, you are truly saved brother. I firmly believe one cannot lose their Salvation, if truly saved. Being truly saved is accepting Jesus as our Savior and asking the Lord to forgive you, by thanking him for His sacrifice as our payment for our sins. That only applies to saved believers. Just going to church and hearing doesn't make one saved.
Its a relationship with him, not a religion.
If you are having doubts and confusion. Ask God for wisdom and courage to follow His promise with all your heart. Rebuke the devil in the name of Jesus, and he flees.

Been addicted to porn for 10 years and right now I'm almost 5 months free from it. 5 months may not sound like a long time although it's the longest streak I've had so far which is something. I don't have any real friends so I became more lonely and more vulnerable to temptation and sinning, but I been working on leaning towards God and been watching channels like Dorre Love, Cleveland Street Preachers, this one, and some other ones. I'll probably need to work on reading the Bible also but it's been a good start and I'm trying to decide if NIV (New International Version) is the best one to read, especially when there are so many different versions.

I settled for KJV bible because it was not changed for over 400 years.
I know that the true version is written in heaven, it's written in blood.
All the people the bible is talking about, at one time, they lived on the earth and their lives are recorded in heaven for the judgement day.
If you want to settle for the NIV, the Holy Spirit will help you with that version too. Ultimately your faith should be in God, the book is just a tool. God will sometimes show you the truth even using other methods than the bible.
The most important thing is to have FAITH in God.

I am a 15 year old who was raised in a Christian house hold and I am a firm believer in Jesus Christ but, this past year has been tough for me with a lot of different temptations and sins. I spend the word most of my day and start my day with prayer and word however when im stressed and depressed I got enticed with my own carnal desires and fall into it. After I felt that after I give into it the conviction of the Holy Spirit is so strong that I’ll go talk and cry to God that I cannot take it anymore and that I wanted to give up sinning by just taking my life away because sinning makes me more vulnerable and makes me thought that I always fail God and God will eventually punish me in the end. I felt after surrendering to the will of God the enemy wants to destroy me
@@irishly2000 Hi Xienna, The Bible presents several different resources to aid us in our effort to overcome sin. In this lifetime, we will never be perfectly victorious over sin (1 John 1:8), but that should still be our goal. With God’s help, and by following the principles of His Word, we can progressively overcome sin and become more and more like Christ.
1)The first resource the Bible mentions in our effort to overcome sin is the Holy Spirit. God has given us the Holy Spirit so we can be victorious in Christian living. God contrasts the deeds of the flesh with the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:16-25. In that passage we are called upon to walk in the Spirit. All believers already possess the Holy Spirit, but this passage tells us that we need to walk in the Spirit, yielding to His control. This means choosing to consistently follow the Holy Spirit’s prompting in our lives rather than following the flesh.
-Holy spirit demonstration: In the life of Peter, who, before being filled with the Holy Spirit, denied Jesus three times-and this after he had said he would follow Christ to the death. After being filled with the Spirit, he spoke openly and strongly to the Jews at Pentecost.
2)A second crucial resource in our battle against sin is prayer. Again, it is a resource that Christians often give lip service to but make poor use of. We have prayer meetings, times of prayer, etc., but we do not use prayer in the same way as the early church (Acts 3:1; 4:31; 6:4; 13:1-3). Paul repeatedly mentions how he prayed for those he ministered to. God has given us wonderful promises concerning prayer (Matthew 7:7-11; Luke 18:1-8; John 6:23-27; 1 John 5:14-15), and Paul includes prayer in his passage on preparing for spiritual battle (Ephesians 6:18).
-How important is prayer to overcoming sin in our lives?
->We have Christ’s words to Peter in the Garden of Gethsemane, just before Peter’s denial. As Jesus prays, Peter is sleeping. Jesus wakes him and says, “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak” (Matthew 26:41).
->** We, like Peter, want to do what is right but are not finding the strength. We need to follow God’s admonition to keep seeking, keep knocking, keep asking-and He will give us the strength that we need (Matthew 7:7). **
->Prayer is not a magic formula. Prayer is simply acknowledging our own limitations and God’s inexhaustible power and turning to Him for that strength to do what He wants us to do, not what we want to do (1 John 5:14-15).
3)A third resource in our war to conquer sin is the church, the fellowship of other believers. When Jesus sent His disciples out, He sent them out two-by-two (Mark 6:7). The missionaries in Acts did not go out one at a time, but in groups of two or more.
-The Bible commands us not to forsake the assembling of ourselves together but to use that time for encouraging one another in love and good works (Hebrews 10:24). It tells us to confess our faults to one another (James 5:16). In the wisdom literature of the Old Testament, we are told that as iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another (Proverbs 27:17). There is strength in numbers (Ecclesiastes 4:11-12).
-Many Christians find that having an accountability partner can be a huge benefit in overcoming stubborn sins. Having another person who can talk with you, pray with you, encourage you, and even rebuke you is of great value. Temptation is common to us all (1 Corinthians 10:13). Having an accountability partner or an accountability group can give us the final dose of encouragement and motivation we need to overcome even the most stubborn of sins.
Sometimes victory over sin comes quickly. Other times, victory comes more slowly. God has promised that as we make use of His resources, He will progressively bring about change in our lives. We can persevere in our efforts to overcome sin because we know that He is faithful to His promises.

I will pray for you, try to fast. Pray an ask The Most High to bless you with the strength to fast. Start off with a few hour fast or half day fast. Do some research on fasting. U must focus on The Most High tho while fasting, pray, read the Bible or download a Bible app an repent daily also for your sins an the sins of your foremothers & forefathers. The Most High is with you. Trust the process an trust him. He will not fail you.

I struggle with porn for years until I surrounded myself with other true Christian's and I saw that the truly walk the faith , then one night I prayed different and surrender my heart to Jesus Christ you have to really mean it. Take off two weeks in the month and use it to seek the Lord with prayer and fasting and you will see His holy spirit comes to you then you will know the truth because while you are failing to conquer the sin is because your not implying work in your faith every day,( 1 Peter 5:8-9)( you are not putting down the sinful nature that raise to control your mind every day by having shot fasting everyday(2 Peter 3:17) as you know almost all the people are living after their sinfulnature flesh, but we suppose to be putting it down everyday and Jesus promised us that if we die on the cause of denying ourself everyday then we shall see Him in His kingdom, those who are living after the flesh can not make it over there galatians 5:19-21. If you love your life in this world you will lose it, but if you comes to the discipline of Holy spirit and denying your heart of its evil through fasting and prayer often with faith, then you will be working in the spirit and entering heaven will be so sure to you.

Do not stop praying! I struggled with it all my life till last year when I was at my lowest and hit my knees and totally surrendered my life to him...his will...not mine. I prayed for him to take it from me...please...I lay it at your feet GOD! I cannot do it myself...I dont have the strentgh. 😢😢😢 He delivered my over night! Pray to God for forgiveness of your sins and let Him know you want to repent from your sins and that you are willing to surrender your life to Him. I am a born again Christian, but keep struggling with the same sin.
Rickus Kruger, don’t struggle with sin, instead be sure to be full of the Spirit always confessing every time your sin adopting His pardon. Don’t ever fell in bad consciousness by not remembering the cross. Doing this God will eventually give you victory. Remember that the objective is NOT to be perfect, but to develop a close relationship with our Heavenly Father. Read and meditate His word daily.

If you truly want help with your sin, confess it to God and to a close friend maybe, so they can help you somehow. Not necessarily to a priest.
If you’re still struggling with it then you might have some spirit of addiction or some other spirit inside you.
Don’t fight sin, don’t even worry about it, in a way it’s not even important. Just put your eyes in the word of God; every moment listen to it and meditate, then God will work on your faith and He’ll give you victory.
God’s will is not for you to be perfect, is to develop a relationship with Him.

A lot of times I think falling into sin from time to time is to be human. But when sin becomes a burden or an addiction, that's when it gets hard to shake off. God bless everyone wrestling with addiction.

Overcoming sin and living a life without it is possible, for Jesus showed us how to do it through the power of the Holyghost. Even Jesus was tempted, and in ALL points, yet without sin (.Hebrews 4:19) He was a human being just like us with the same emotions and desires, but he kept his flesh under subjection at all times! The Lord has helped me overcome so many sins.. addiction, fornication, etc. but I continue to struggle with sloth and sleeping so much due to depression. Idk what to do.

@@davidcharles4419 The Bible doesn't have to be KJV. Some Bible versions has a misinterpretation in a spot or two, but there are many Bible versions that translated accurately.

Have you received the message of God who is calling all people to repent (Acts 17:30-31)? You must sincerely regret having sinned against God, and come to the point of hearing and agreeing 100% with Jesus' message saying, "I do not condemn you, now go and don't sin anymore" (John 8:11). You only need to be on board with approaching God the way He expects you to, and that will be your path to receiving his forgiveness and healing, freedom from sin/addictions and the gift of *a new life* (John 8:34-36, Romans 6:4-7). That is salvation.

Take off two weeks in the month and use it to seek the Lord with prayer and fasting and you will see His holy spirit comes to you then you will know the truth because while you are failing to conquer the sin is because your not implying work in your faith every day,( 1 Peter 5:8-9)( you are not putting down the sinful nature that raise to control your mind every day by having shot fasting everyday(2 Peter 3:17) as you know almost all the people are living after their sinfulnature flesh, but we suppose to be putting it down everyday and Jesus promised us that if we die on the cause of denying ourself everyday then we shall see Him in His kingdom, those who are living after the flesh can not make it over there galatians 5:19-21. If you love your life in this world you will lose it, but if you comes to the discipline of Holy spirit and denying your heart of its evil through fasting and prayer often with faith, then you will be working in the spirit and entering heaven will be so sure to you.

You need to repent in the way that the Bible teaches it. That's the basis for forgiveness of sins already committed. But not only that, victory over the power of sin and freedom from sin, which is what salvation in Jesus is about (John 8:36, Romans 6:4-7, 14, 18).

I was saved approximately three months ago at 40 years old after completely wasting my entire life with prescribed medication (27 years - bipolar/depression - doctors said I was misdiagnosed for first 11 years and “it made me worse”), illegal drugs, legal drugs, and alcohol. No friends, no significant other, no children, no job, no life, and no hope. My plan was to wait until my mother and father (both believers that never gave up on me, and never stopped praying for me) died, and then hang myself. I no longer take meds or use any substances. I was also delivered from unbridled anger and an uncontrollable blasphemous mouth instantly right on the spot. I joined a small reformed church, and I was baptized in early December 2019. The Lord allowed me to have great victory over sin, but since I was baptized I’ve had to go to serious war with certain things. Only by the power of the Holy Spirit will I put to death the deeds of the flesh. I pray He conforms me to do good works in His name, and holds me in the faith till the end. My only hope is Christ.
Read the book of Romans, which I believe is the greatest explanation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We all need a greater understanding of the gospel.

Be born again Christian. The Holy Spirit will guide you through life as your helper and help you to overcome your sins and addictions. The reason we get addicted to sin is that we like what we are doing. Lust is like that because it makes us feel temporarily good and healthy, see my post under this video. To stop liking sin we need to get some perspective on what we are doing to ourselves (and other people). Sin is defined as that which causes pain to self and/or others.God hence only gives us laws to save us from pain. This life is a clever mixture of pleasure and pain. Pain is the hook and pleasure is the bait and the fisherman is the devil. See my post for more tips.

My friend i struggled with the same thing, to a heavy degree. Praise the Lord that you actually WANT to be free of these sins!🤗🤗 This is definitely pleasing to God! Most false Christians think it’s ok to just go on sinning and sinning. Not only does this go against everything that is taught in the bible, but it makes Jesus Christ look like a fool!!
Spend genuine, humble, dedicated time with Jesus every day in prayer. SEEK HIM with all your heart. RESIST the devil in the moment of temptation, launching into prayer to Jesus for help. Are you truly born again and have the Holy Spirit in you? This is crucial to work out with Jesus as well! Seek him humbly, fervently and persistently - ONLY HE can set you free of any sin bondages you have (anything that has you mastered), with his empowering grace. It is definitely a struggle to resist the devil, and we all go through this struggle (especially if you are early in your walk with the Lord!), but don’t get discouraged because that’s what the devil wants!! Keep your eyes and heart on JESUS and trust him. Resisting the devil will build up your spiritual strength (like going to a gym to work out - it’s hard at first, right?!) Don’t give up! Praying for you!❤️🙏🏻

But it's not hard to overcome. It's so easy. It's only hard if we try and do it in our own strength. Even if we do overcome in our own strength, the desire and temptation will always be there.
It's so easy when He just takes the desire away. No longer am I tempted. I truly have no desire for drink anymore. I have had a drink here and there, but it doesnt control me like it once did, I control it. It was so easy to overcome. It did take about 3 days, though, but it was more of me getting my mind in line with what God says about me and away from what my flesh says about me. Changing your way of thinking (repenting) is easy if you know the truth and stop standing firmly on the lie (the flesh).
2 Corinthians 5:21 is the key. Knowing that we are the righteousness of in Christ because of Christ's works and not by our own works. See also Philippians 3:9, Romans 10:2-4,
Sin has no power over us because we ARE NOT under the law but under Grace. The strength of sin is the law. 1 Corinthians 15:56. Trying to be righteous by keeping the law, is what makes sin abound, it also means we are fallen from Grace. Galatians 5:4
By the Law is our effort. By Grace it's by His effort and we just freely receive it. Anyway, this is what I repeated everytime I had an evil thought, everytime I took a drink-- even while I was drinking, I say it. I started off saying it sounding like a broken record robot. Just saying the words over and over throughout the day. By about the third day, I no longer sounded like a monotone zombie, but I was actually praising Him that I am righteous before Him, not because of my works, but because of what Christ did. His works not mine.
As John tells us in 1 John 5:4. Our victory over the world is by our faith in Christ. Romans 5:17 we are told that if we receive the abundance of Grace and the free gift of righteousness, we shall reign in life by Christ-- not by us trying harder or by overcoming in our flesh. We need to get our mind off of our flesh and on to Christ, and who we are in Christ. His strength not ours. Where we are week, He is strong. Be week, then you'll be strong in Him. Dont just ask Him to take the desire away from you, He told you to renew your own mind. He is not going to do for you what He commanded you to do.
Try it. Give it a week. Everytime you have a bad thought or action, even in the middle of your sin, thank Him for the fact that you are righteous before God because of what Jesus did, not by what you do or dont do. " Thank you Lord that I am perfectly righteous before you as a free gift. I am righteous before you Father by Christ's works not my own. I am the righteousness of God in Christ. Thank you Lord."

I was brought up in a church going family and went to Sunday school as a boy. At 13 years old I went to a christian camp with my aunt's church where the need to accept Jesus as saviour was preached every night in the meeting after a day of fun. At 22 years old by God's grace I had the born again experience in a christian run coffee bar. I have been through many trials and tribulations but God has always seen me through. It is ONLY by God's grace that I've been born again and can not boast at being better than ANYONE who has not had that experience. It is by grace we are saved and not by works lest ANY man should boast.

It is a fierce battle and it’s difficult to overcome and stay focused. So much truth here, Thank You! Another good suggestion I’ve heard from a Pastor, is the comparison to weight training and how resistance makes your muscles physically stronger, so can resistance to sinful desires, will make you stronger spiritually!
