I have a Sony G Master 50/1.2 - but now I want this too ha ha :). I have the Mitakon 50/0.95 but it's not impressing me - optical issues. Seen some tests with the Laowa and it's look much better. Have a few Laowa lens and they are serving me well.
very striking photos at beginning , especially at my dinner time. Nice color and light blend later in video; model Nikki and surrounding in the floral garden. Well done again Mitch.
the helios 58mm (f2 from memory) is a cracking lens - exceptionally sharp. I have One with my first camera (Zenit 12XP) somewhere in the house lol. The Helios lenses were made with ex Zeiss lathes btw. Zeiss sold them when they updated their lathes in the early 50s from memory.
I own a manual lens the Mitakon 0.95 for my sony..using the manual focus sure makes my eyes ache and makes me slow.. btw nice shots from the laowa lens.
If your biggest complaints are the dampening of the focus ring and weight of the lens it time to save for a gym membership! but seriously like what you had to say about it so got on order.
This is a situation where using the EVF with the camera to your eye significantly improves the success rate. The EVF is 3.7m dots compared to 1.0m dots for the LCD, so seeing focus is already better. Ergonomically, the camera gets held better, with the steadying effect of having it against the whole head and having the camera held closer to the body. I know I got the "youtube commenter" label when I said this a few weeks ago, but please consider that some youtube commenters might have more photography experience and might have a better understanding of ergonomics than you, enough to say that it does sometimes make a difference. #BrokenRecordMode
If only this lens had AF...I'm far too old, and far too lazy to be manually focusing. Love the images and look that the lens gives. Plus, I mean f0.95 is just way too cool.
The evening shots blew my mind
jesus those beach shots are coool
That Australia light just hits different.
🙏🏼🔥

I've been using the helios 58mm for a lot of my portraits gives them a dreamy look similar to this lens especially wide open

Homie got some amazing focusing skills.
Good shooting Mitch!
Did you experience uneven vignette on high shutter speeds?
When you manually focus, that's not autofocus anymore :> But you did really well!
Yeah, unless he's secretly a robot and this was a Freudian slip.

Great model, and quite talented photographer guess technology is not that important in this review :-)

"It was difficult to autofocus in this location".
