I missed the management aspect from the earlier games a lot. You'd need to pick your cars carefully and upgrade them if and when needed. I remember the thrill finding a rare car i needed on the "second hand shop" for cheap. Hoping that they will add more career elements into the game in the future.

Glad to hear someone finally calling out GT for their camera issues that really have been a thing since GT4. Chase cam - too stiff, hood cam - too high, bumper cam - too retro, and I, as well, wish for a dash-only, no-wheel cockpit view.
Did you really play the game? Cause in realitty it looks like this: chase cam - you can adjust the stiffness, roof cam (not hood cam) perfect for playing with wheel and close racing, bumper cam really is retro probably for people that started on GT1, cockpit view - adjustable and very close to the feeling that I have driving my real car (I can judge that easily since in this game is at least 10 different versions of my car - BRZ)

That's the only issue I have with it too. Makes the car feel like it's stationary and the track is the one actually moving. The cars need to loosen up a bit in 3rd person
@@freaky45 for me i would just put cam sensitivity and rotation offset on high and back to low again it will also loosen the camera as well although its not as substantial as it is in sport tho
You can adjust the 3rd person camera to be less stiff, hell some guys even recreated the 3rd person camera from Forza horizon by just tweaking some settings in the menu
You know... Horizon may be a buggy mess sometimes, but the dev team is awesome. The fact that the game has no subscription, no MTX, only p2w with VIP 2x credits which you can just buy once and have forever, playable pretty much fully offline (Unless you're 100%-er). I still would love to get my hands on GT7 one day, but for now, without a PS5 to appriciate the graphics fully, GT Sport is close enough
Gt7 is no different on PS4 than ps5 other than loading times and graphics. And it's a vast improvement over GTS for me because it's and actual GT game.
one thing i really miss from GT6 is the ability to buy upgrades when you're already on the race track. no need to fumble out of menus if you need a part you can just go in the tuning section and get the part
I've vainly tried pressing the X button on the thing I want in the hope it actually does something. It's actually good to know there are others who are always getting the lesser prize.
I am really enjoying the game tho, really addictive, but you are right, they should fix these little problems as fast as possible since the foundation is really good, it isn't smt like battlefield 2042 that the whole thing is bad even the core game.
Bumper can all my life i have none of the problems this guy talks about and play for 25 years just get used to it ... besides that there are settings for it so your not speaking the truth entirely
People have been used to it for 25 years and has some of the best racers in the world comfortable with it. The only people complaining are those comfortable with the forza camera.
This is the one and only review I need to watch. Honest, realistic, fair and unsponsored. All those early reviews from the same big names are identical. They just praise the game's high notes, but ignoring the low ones. Enjoy the game Hoki, I don't own a PS5, but I'll watch your GT7 videos because they are fun to watch.
Rather upset that there is not a true campaign mode like in the older GTs. It's kind of silly that they give you options to wash the car, change oil, buy a new engine/body, give you an actual mileage for the car, and yet you'll likely spend next to no time on one specific car throughout your career. Definitely highly detailed, but still feels empty in a way. The cars still didn't feel like "mine". Gone are the days where I'd grind for credits to get a favorite car of mine. It could've even been a soft career progression, where at some midpoint you'd have some solid options to farm money if you wanted to put in the time. I suppose it's at least better than Forza's approach, where they'll just give you too much all at once. I guess since they decided to put in a pay-with-real-money for in-game money scheme, that making it so that giving away free cars would've lessened the outcry we would've had if we tried to complain about pay-to-win. I've also been playing on the PS4 Pro, since I'm not paying enough attention to grab a PS5 at any drop. The game looks good on the old hardware, loading times are meh. I just hate to miss out on the haptic feedback on the PS5. They should really move the GT series to PC as well, would love to play on there.
GT7 feels like the Pro Evolution Soccer of racing games. It can technically do everything Forza does, it just requires you to configure everything manually yourself rather than the game just actually having fun modes to begin with
The inability to sell cars os horrible. When i see the prices of the used car market, i would love to be able to sell my car, price based of condition and mileage. You could sell cars in GT Sport, so what changed? Also, in GT Sport the kind of was micro transactions. You could buy a car for real money but i was like 0,5$ for a car, not 30$..
No not true you could not sell cars in gt sport last gt game you could sell cars in was gt6 and it obviously changed because people made to much money of that method all at once you would progress to easily And who the fuck inbtheir tight frame of mind would buy cars with real money they still made a joke out of microtransactions because you earn more then enough just racing
After you mentioned about the lack of race events variants. That does seems a huge problem comparing to previous GT titles. Races needed much more thoughts previously. Also getting new cars feel less satisfying/rewarding now. In GT5 I felt much emotionally attached to the car i got I hope they are doing a huge update to GT7.
I cant take the game seriously. why? because they didn't reveal or let reviewers know that it has micro transactions. They only revealed it once the game came out which absolutely isn't right. Forza Motorsport 7 was constantly being constantly criticized for non existant micro transactions
IGN reported on mtx in their review, reviewers definitely knew about it. The scummy part is that the price of mtx got hiked *massively* as soon as the embargo lifted
I remember Yamaguchi promised GT Sport would have no microtransactions. Then it was added later. I never got to drive several cars. Now GT7 has them from the start! Glad I stayed away, maybe I'll get it when it has a big discount. The multiplayer may be the biggest bummer.
@@rustinpeace770 it means they're bound to a casino sgyle roulette system. Regardless of those roulette cards are in microtransactions or not, they're bad.
@@rustinpeace770 ...until you get the ticket to buy them from the roulette. Which expires. So if you don't have enough money, you're pressured to use mtx so your ticket isn't wasted. It's bs
Thank you so much for this review! Now after weeks I am finally settled on NOT buying the game after all. I started playing GT4 approx. 3 months ago and was eyeing at GT7 since then. But since it does not have the traditional career mode, it is out. I will spend the money on an old tube tv to get a better experience on GT4 because the story with its events and the used car markets and all is what made me play it again. Simple, context-less racing is what EVERY race game out there is offering me right now. Be it Forza, The Crew, any GRID or now even GT.
GT4 had a great idea for gameplay Buy a shitbox, race tune it master it, then do that again with a different car GT7 sucks at that so hard its not even funny...
@@yogxoth1959 Play with the 3rd person settings and it's great. I can make it like most other games or make it look like a gopro is hooked to the back. The bumper cam is the same it's always been and the hood cam has always been a roof cam. The helmet cam is also great, again if you set it right. The only complaint I have is no true fov slider.
I always drive in first person and never have an issue. I only switch to hood or 3rd person if i have to set a really good time on some license test and the track is very wide and makes me waste a lot of if. Only then i put on 3rd person to see exactly which parts of the track I'm missing
Tbh very awesome review on what you have touched, My first Gran Turismo game was GT5 and I love this series in and out. With GT7 thought about the whole Microtransactions thing I haven't even thought of doing it once. Yes I know it's a option, but for a person who has gone back to the older GT games (GT2-GT7) I've never thought of using Microtransactions once. Maybe it depends on how you interpret them Ig.
I thought I was being obsessive but you're a day ahead in play time 🤣 back to the rig I keep getting distracted for HOURS making liveries and sharing them. Since I can't share tunes any with the same ease I want to co tribute to the community. I hope implementation of Sophy will make a huge improvement for offline racing.
The microtransactions aren't that bad. If you use the traditional money grinding methods you can get anywhere from 1-1.8 million an hour which pretty much invalidates the idea of buying cash.
I agree with this. I think some folks ought to play Gran Turismo 1-4 and see if they feel the same about the difficulty of making money. Of course there were a few cars you could win and sell in the older games, but without that, earning money used to be quite a grind.
🤣🤣🤣 microtranactions are useless your a fool if you buy them and thats done on purpose because the developers hate them as much as we do they never wanted this but sony wanted this let that be clear . besides the fact most people earn ingame money faster then they do real money so its merely a really obviously exspensive option but i never used it and never needed to
@@V.S.D.D. very bad take. That only makes sense if micro transactions aren’t there to begin with. It’s the idea that you can either grind or pay. That’s literally about as simple as it gets.
yeah the mtx design and forced online are a massive blight on the game. Also I like the tuner option for races, but 100% agree that BoP races need to be a thing alongside them too. But something tells me they want tuner races to be emphasised due to them encouraging spending credits on upgrades and cars that are better suited to the current track everyone is racing on. If these issues can be fixed (i.e. if they can tone down the give me more money aspects) I'll have nothing bad to say about this game

It’s a very immersive and challenging experience, thumbs up from me. Navigating the menu is a bit annoying, I wish you could jump to any menu from anywhere instead of going to the world map. The driving experience is really good, even on controller. Tuning is satisfying and rewarding too, figuring out how to adjust your car to what you need is really fun. Playing on hard and a lot of races are very challenging. Great entry but some of the market mechanics are a bit questionable.
This is a very good review. I agree with your viewpoints, both good and bad. I Polyphony takes into consideration the sort of points you're making, because most of this stuff can be fixed reasonably easily, and make the game close to perfect.
I was Gran Turismo daft. I love it but changed to Forza years ago for 1 reason only. The sound of the cars in Forza is so far ahead. The sound of the cars is one of the most important aspects for me. However the replays in Forza are nowhere near Gran Turismo’s quality. So it’s a trade off. We will have to see what Turn Ten produces this time around.
Camera movements in 3rd/1st person can be adjusted. The MODE 2 cockpit with no HUD is next level. I do 100% of my racing with no HUD in the Forst Person MODE 2. Absolutely mind blowing, more often than not.
I agree with everything he said but I am definitely enjoying the game it’s a lot of fun I actually wish there was more customizable things for your car though
I personally race in cockpit view, although that's mainly because there's about 30mm between my TV and the wheel base while the center of the screen is exactly level with my eyes. In most cars, my wheel lines up with the wheel on the screen so the immersion is awesome.
The livery editor can use some improvements aswell, the option to use the games carbon textures on individual parts, ability to put decals on the front and front side windows, some cars have the option to paint the added aero parts separate from the body, some don't, make it available for every car, same goes for the roll cage.
For the 700pp championship, I could've, or barely get 1st with a modified tesla, but like you said, you start dead last and you have to push real hard to catch up. It wasn't also just the tesla, I had to tune cars to MAX. to be on par with the pp requirement.
Yeah I hate this style of "racing" even though there are some that are grid starts. The world touring car 800 at Suzuka is seriously p***ing me off!!! I've tried multiple cars tuned right to the PP limit, and I just cannot catch the Viper that might as well be half way through the first lap when you start....add in tyre wear, fuel usage and rain that starts around the end of the 2nd start of the 3rd lap?!! I can get up into 5th or 6th place (20 car race) by the time I have to pit to refuel and change tyres, but then end up being between 50 and 60 seconds behind that damn Viper again!! By some miracle, I managed to get into 2nd last night and was 8 seconds behind as it finished, and that was pushing it to my limit for the full 10 laps, where even the slightest mistake of simply slowing by 1 or 2 mph more than you should, and it's regaining a few seconds on you!! I like a challenge, but f*** me this one is a joke!!
@@North47 i found the same for some races. Clearly some cars are more economical than others but there's no real way of knowing that (one car i had could only manage 2 laps before needing fuel! 😂) but it also seems like the AI cars are more economical regardless.. There's me trying to pic a car like a hybrid so it doesn't need fuel so often and the AI is rolling around in 1st place in a V12 not needing to fuel up. Wtf?
I always use the interior camera. I love the camera in ACC and you have two interior cams - one standard and one through the eyes of the driver while wearing helmet and that one is my favorite cause you can see the movement of the driver. I assume sim racers dont use that because of track IR but casual players like me, love that camera. Out of all the games I played, ACC has the best interior camera. Chase camera is still imho, so I gotta give that to FH5.
It seems pretty decent to me. We can cross reference by checking online. I know it can be considered annoying to some, but it's a quirk in my eyes that adds a special element to the game. Receiving an invitation to purchase a Bugatti Veyron, or Pagani Huayra is interesting to me too.
I've been on the fence with this game... I was even going to go out to buy a sim kit to get the 'Real Feel'. Thank you for this video. Amazon is gonna have to lick my ass cause ima be canceling my order. toodles meng
I haven't played a GT game in over a decade only because I haven't owned a PlayStation for a very long time. This game looks awesome and reminds so much of GT 2 but even more so it makes me want Forza Motorsport 8, I hope it's incredible 🤞
Also a wheel user and its Bumper cam for me, It even adds a better position for your track map and the other mini menus you can change are now centered at the bottom of your screen. Agreed that a race driver campaign would have been nice but they already missed the launch of the ps5 by over a year and I'm greedy and want the game asap so I'm more than happy with the Cafe system
Only gripe: permanent upgrades on cars. Weight reduction/engine bore, etc...like yeah it's realistic, of course, but just let me return a car to stock (without having to spend ungodly amounts of money in the 'extreme' tab). And, no, adding ballast weight is not the same thing.
Yep totally agree. I've disliked the looks of some cars I've pulled the fenders on. Also have disliked some of my upgrade pathways when trying to reach certain pp. Selling cars would also be nice, even for a fraction of the value. At least let me sell doubles. In regards to ballast weight, are you sure that it works differently in gt7? weight reduction then adding weight back on
the cameras are good imho. you can play cafe with a hand full of cars, through out, it also features cups. while i agree the cars sound great, the VQ example was not so nice anyway, there will be so many updates, as we know
@@nu3566 All you gotta do is change the paint, add wheels and a body kit usually or make it clean and people will buy it. Now if you’re selling unpopular cars or oversaturated cars then that’s another story
No its not they did that because everybody sold their cars that they won and made far to much money to quick onbgt 5 and 6 what you want is a money cheat not to sell cars
I think this game is just for people who have racing wheels, and thats why they like it so much. I was thinking of picking it up, but I'm on controller and while the haptics are for sure cool, I had to remind myself that doing literal laps for 50 hours just isn't fun.
one complaint I have is the used and legendary dealers take way too long to restock (one change per day(changes include cars being in limited stock cars being out of stock and or cars being exchanged and it’s only a few cars that recieve one or more of these changes per day))
@@danielstokker well it says its a sim racer, but the racing isnt really sim at all, thats what i wish theyd change. But maybe i just dont understand the franchise
GT7, while overall is a truly fantastic game, felt quite underwhelming. It is stunning and the online gets really competitive, but it leaves a lot to be desired. Maybe this generation will truly go to Forza, with not only Horizon 5 but the next Motorsport entry. It will be interesting to see how they compare
After the nonsense that was the previous FM, I doubt 8 will be much better. They can't even implement a decent online penalty system without adding artificial barriers and weird lines around the track limits. The last FM that actually took the racing seriously was 2.

How many times did you start a race with street tires and it starts raining. Unless I’ve missed something I don’t know when it’s raining. Apologies before hand if I missed a notification but it’s frustrating. MR cars are a handful to drive and like a lot of mentions before the physics sometimes are ridiculous. I just got a wheel and stand, I really think this game will shine on a wheel like previous games.
The update is the actual release of the game. They intentionally waited until post-launch to monetize what is actually a pay-as-you go game. DO NOT BUY.
after almost a week, this is my gameplay exp. race a few rallys, pick a car, tune it, customize it, run it, rinse and repeat. the game dropped dead after the cafe missions ended. also, currently, the mission mode is flawed, stuck on divine moves, driving an f1 car in the rain. problem: slicks, not wet tires. also, used car list literally has not changed since day one. waste of 60 bucks, imo.
They actually decreased the amount of credits you get after reviewers were done reviewing the game. It's a shame, I looked forwards to this game so much, but that cashgrab makes it an absolute no-buy for me.
yeah a lot of games are doing this nowadays. disappointing but can't say i'm surprised. I don't remember exactly which game it was, but when it came out they said "no microtransactions" but surprise surprise, after the launch and review period, they put MTs in the game ...

If they take the dirt races out everything else is perfect. It’s the ONLY part of the game I can’t stand - after being spoilt by forza horizon’s dirt races it’s a drastic change. @@harrybuhse8622 possibly, after trying several rally games it’s the one that’s felt most fun and engaging for me that’s probably why it’s at the top, in terms of realism there is for sure better alternatives but when comes to pure fun and ‘feel’ while still balancing sim/arcade it’s stuck with me but I agree it has changed my expectations for dirt.
@Angelo Griffith it's not amazing by any stretch but it's more realistic than forza's dirt physics. I just thought it was a weird example to bring up considering its not better.

Great review agree with everything you said. I think the races are always chase led as the A.I even on hardest mode would be easy enough to be overtaken on the first or second lap. Should have an offline mode too as you can only play like 1% of the game without being online.
It's basically the game GT Sport would've been if it was a numbered entry in the series. The progression is probably the weak point considering how good it was in GT4, 5 and 6

I remember the trailer for sport In 2017 talking trash about how the game has become for car collecting just so they can literally make it about car collecting In GT7 except It has 30% of the cars and races of any other Gran Turismo game
As someone who enjoys using chase view as well as cockpit I find the camera _so_ aggravating, the horrible way it's rigidly stuck to the car's rear is both ugly and disorienting and it's bordering on stubbornness that they don't allow for any alternatives. I love Forza's chase camera, I think it's the best in any game(besides the various modded options in AC), and having to use the one in GT is just very frustrating. The mad things is that they lavish so much time on these extraordinary car models - absolutely spectacular, the best in class - and because of that stupid camera there's no way to pan around your car and admire it.
@@Mercman1010 Yes, it's bonkers. And I spend most of my time in driving games drifting, I'm heavily into it, and the GT camera is just not fit for purpose in that respect, either in cockpit or chase.

Dont know if anyone feels this but the brakes just dont feel very direct at all compared to other racing games. Like you have to be so direct with how you brake or youll go right into a wall cause the brakes dont really slow you down, and hoping that you turned at the right time the car just loses traction so quick in this game it just feels off. I know that this applies to all racing of course, its just with GT7 and GT Sport the handling just doesnt feel there.
Are you still or have you figured out ways to earn roulette tickets after completing all the menus besides daily workout I haven’t got anything over a two star ticket since I’ve beat the menu’s

It can technically do everything Forza does, it just requires you to configure everything manually yourself rather than the game just actually having fun modes to begin with
Great and informative video!
No not true you could not sell cars in gt sport last gt game you could sell cars in was gt6 and it obviously changed because people made to much money of that method all at once you would progress to easily
And who the fuck inbtheir tight frame of mind would buy cars with real money they still made a joke out of microtransactions because you earn more then enough just racing
If you are offline and play music rally it won't save any trophy progress or track times so there isn't any point to playing offline anyways
The always online thing is what stopps me from buying - and that only around 10GB of game data is on the actual disc
After you mentioned about the lack of race events variants. That does seems a huge problem comparing to previous GT titles. Races needed much more thoughts previously.
Also getting new cars feel less satisfying/rewarding now. In GT5 I felt much emotionally attached to the car i got
I hope they are doing a huge update to GT7.
Couldn’t believe that endurance races were left out.. also why is there no drag strip besides in missions?
100 percent feel the same way !
GTS had microtransactions, so did GT6. No one was surprised nor was it a secret that you could buy in game money
I remember Yamaguchi promised GT Sport would have no microtransactions. Then it was added later. I never got to drive several cars. Now GT7 has them from the start! Glad I stayed away, maybe I'll get it when it has a big discount. The multiplayer may be the biggest bummer.

Same.
Yeah. I was shocked to hear that GT7 races were contextless. Theses kinds of races should only be in training sessions.
GT4 had a great idea for gameplay

Love the game, but would kill for a proper hood cam.
The cameras are terrible overall.
@@yogxoth1959
Play with the 3rd person settings and it's great.

I thought I was being obsessive but you're a day ahead in play time 🤣 back to the rig
I keep getting distracted for HOURS making liveries and sharing them.
Probably because they're used to having everything handed to them
🤣🤣🤣 microtranactions are useless your a fool if you buy them and thats done on purpose because the developers hate them as much as we do they never wanted this but sony wanted this let that be clear .
besides the fact most people earn ingame money faster then they do real money so its merely a really obviously exspensive option but i never used it and never needed to
@@V.S.D.D. very bad take.

Your set up must be the best. This the only review that shows the true graphics. Most excellent reviewer.
With the livery editor customization: TURN 10 STUDIOS/MICROSOFT, TAKE TONS OF NOTES!!!
Great review. Really balanced and fair. Nicely done
Camera movements in 3rd/1st person can be adjusted. The MODE 2 cockpit with no HUD is next level.
I do 100% of my racing with no HUD in the Forst Person MODE 2. Absolutely mind blowing, more often than not.
I agree with everything he said but I am definitely enjoying the game it’s a lot of fun I actually wish there was more customizable things for your car though
who else is watching this during the server shutdown currently ongoing

What does everyone think about how accurate the car pricing is? Ive heard its not very accurate sometimes

I just got a wheel and stand, I really think this game will shine on a wheel like previous games.

Final comment when you had damage on Forza 1 you had visible paint come off and be on the wall from wall tapping or just scrapping it
So... basically this is just a better GT Sport and FM with a Forza progression system?
It's basically the game GT Sport would've been if it was a numbered entry in the series. The progression is probably the weak point considering how good it was in GT4, 5 and 6
