I know your profile picture is Tom Jones but Unwound used it for one of their album covers as well, so are you referring to Tom Jones or Unwound in your profile picture lol
I know, I've been thinking the same since the first time I heard it. BUT, I guess it serves its instant catharsis and nails the song to its beautiful coffin only to be heard again and again?
@@Cosmikh0bo I've since realised its infinitely better to leave you wanting more than wanting less. Maybe if it was twice or 3 times the length it would loose its impact.
The part with operatic singing? Idk if this is common knowledge but that is a sample from :the prophecy, at the end of the film when Christopher Walken is killed and the evil spirit is released from the girl
You could try some Dark Jazz/Experimental Jazz bands like The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble, Bohren & der Club of Gore or Trigg & Gusset, it's hard to find something really close to this particular track though For example: th-cam.com/video/S_oxu_16ECM/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=TheKilimanjaroDarkjazzEnsemble-Topic th-cam.com/video/J6CwvfBScTo/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=TheKilimanjaroDarkjazzEnsemble-Topic th-cam.com/video/67NhatDn2p8/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=Trigg%26Gusset-Topic th-cam.com/video/JTB_x-mozdQ/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=Trigg%26Gusset-Topic Also this maybe enfantdelaforet.bandcamp.com/track/noir-etang
This album is very unique really. But if you want something similar, I suggest: The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble- Here Be Dragons Future Sound Of London- Dead Cities Massive Attack- Mezzanine Bohren & Der Club Of Gore- Sunset Mission
I'd say it's a mix of late 90's trip hop and big beat. Fluke's Risotto and Portishead's self-titled album are also in this vein. Paatos' Timeloss and Kallocain also go for some similar things, though lean a bit more towards 70's progressive rock than jazz and soul. Orbital was a pretty uneven band, but their albums In-Sides and Diversions (especially the songs P.E.T.R.O.L. and Impact USA: The Earth Is Burning) have some of these vibes too. Some of DJ Shadow's stuff isn't too far off either. Oh right, almost forgot - Test Department's Tactics for Evolution and Totality.
One of the best album openers ever

Can't help thinking that this is music for the mind rather than the ears .... doesn't make sense writing that - but feels right
Really fucking awesome

I was listening a subgender "noir jazz", its like you watching a old mystery movie
Taxi driver OST (I still can't sleep / the cannot touch her)
Bohren and der Club of Gore it's amazing! It's doom jazz tough, it lacks the electronic elements of this track
Try Absolute Magnitude by Sonic Generation. Smooth, atmospheric jungle with a beautiful lead sax line.

It's just pure Electronic/Wave music. I think 90's Depeche Mode is similar.
