    Enjoyed Austell video as always. Don't have a camcorder but my wife and I did Dalton yesterday. Great to be next to that horsepower. Saw CSX 211 autorack heading south and BNSF return to WY. Sad thing was, only 10 trains from 9am-3pm.
    Bit disappointing but still great to be there.

    • @mbmars01
      @mbmars01  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm glad you made it to Dalton. When I visited Dalton for the first time, I saw 5 track maintainers in 3 hours but no trains at all. Eventually you deal with CSX and NS, which means everything is possible lol. When they run without problems it is a nice location, though.

  • @annomaus8386

    roger, roger. I have the Uniden BC72XLT HH with rubber ducky. I found the CMQ frequencies including their repeater but since I'm almost 30 miles away from the yard/dispatch center I'll need to put up a better fixed base antenna to hear anything but the bi-weekly trains. Those drop off and pick up tankers and hoppers to the main port and to GAC chemical. The GAC stuff is mostly clay slurries and bleaching agents for the pulp and paper mills in Maine.
    I have a 20 foot fiberglass pole antenna resonant in the 160MHz band so I'll try that this spring on top of my 50 foot ham tower. A vhf beam would be better though.
    Keep putting those great vids up!

    Those heritage units are always pretty sweet to catch.
    I have shot the Lehigh Valley, Jersey Central, and Savannah and Atlanta with camera.
    Have seen the Reading, Lackawanna, New York Central, and N&W from a distance.
    Just missed seeing the Virginian unit on the Q138 yesterday because of MofW had the track in front of me.
    Great video as always. Always interesting to see what the competition is doing.
    Be safe out there.

    • @mbmars01
      @mbmars01  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's right. I wish, CSX had a more visible heritage program. The stickers on their special units are so small that I don't even see them on my little display when I'm filming - only later during video production lol.

    • @philliplee980

      You're right about them being too small.
      Got on the Gainesville Midland unit early one morning this past summer and didn't realize what engine it was until daylight.
      And to top it off. The heritage stickers are also peeling off, amazing.

    That Reading unit is just gorgeous! So nice to see these living swaths of history kept looking good and useful. They could have just slapped an NS paint job on it, or worse, shipped it off to LTEX. Nice to see that much regard for history and heritage!

    Yea. The NS mainline still goes through there. They have a rail yard on the west side. A lot of traffic on the Harrisburg line. NS gets there ballast from Dyers Quarry in Gibraltar, just east of Reading. The quarry has been operating for over a hundred years. Reading Lines still pulls anthracite coal from north of Reading.

    Hi MBMARS. I started off this morning enjoying your video I just finished it in the Union at the University of Maine. I have a IPad 10.5 I traded in the one I had. The new iPad has better sound and great graphics to watch your 4K videos. I’m glad I made the change it has loads of storage 256. Did you happen to notice the graffiti around 30 minute mark? It was on one of the auto racks I did a double take never seen it before. Thanks for all you work I deeply appreciate.
    Please take care. One more thing I thought it was unusual to see KCS Mexico

    • @mbmars01
      @mbmars01  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. No, I didn't notice. I see so much graffiti that I don't pay much attention anymore. I once saw a nice version of Goofy which I liked (it's in one of the earlier videos). UP has its hands on Mexican railroading and KCS has, too. It doens't happen too often here in GA to see KCSM, though.

  • @thebamaguy3343
    @thebamaguy3343 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    ok 2 questions I have and love your train videos as always1 I thought NS usually uses their own engines when they do DPU moves, Can any engine companies from any branch of railroad be used as DPU's for other companies if they have a contract or require it? and the reason why I asked is because I saw a KCS engine being used in a DPU move which is why I am asking2 What is the Bee line Service? Is it affiliated with any particular railroad companies? or do they have their own place they are based out of? because I am thinking its a rare engine to see just my opinion I may be wrong though.thank you for your time as always and have a great day keep up making awesome train videos,

    • @danielsprowl1998
      @danielsprowl1998 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TheBamaGuy334
      Yes any Railroad can use each other's locomotives for DPU service.
      Bee Line Service was a Reading Railroad Service slogan used back in the late 1960's and early 1970's.
      It was used only on their six axle locomotives.
      The SD45's, U30C's, and the second order of C630's had the slogan on the long hoods.
      Hope that helps ya out.
