Or, you can just take out the small panel (the one with the handle), move aside the sound-proofing material and reach in with your hand. It is quite easy to find and does not require these unnecessary steps with the side panels. Worked like a charm for me.

Was at the petrol station and the cow didnt wanna open! Removed the sidecover and the isolation, that did the trick! Thanks for posting this

I just jently forced the flap,broke locking pin,fitted a locking fuel cap.5min job.
