Or, you can just take out the small panel (the one with the handle), move aside the sound-proofing material and reach in with your hand. It is quite easy to find and does not require these unnecessary steps with the side panels. Worked like a charm for me.

Was at the petrol station and the cow didnt wanna open! Removed the sidecover and the isolation, that did the trick! Thanks for posting this

Thanks. This helped. I managed to reach the lock only by removing a small right plastic angle, and then reaching underneath the heat isolation.

I just jently forced the flap,broke locking pin,fitted a locking fuel cap.5min job.
