Watching your videos inspired me to start hiking to help with my depression. I have 20 miles left on the South Downs way and loved every second of it so far. I can’t thank you enough. keep making videos 🤙
Thanks so much George and I’m glad the hiking is helping with your mental health, as it does mine on so many levels. Thanks for the kind words and of course. I’ll always keep making videos. Happy trails dude and all the best with the last 20 miles 🤙🤙🤙
I know what you mean by 'absolutely loving it.' Once on the move it's that full immersive experience and rhythm - it's such a trance. Enjoying your way. All the best. Mark
Very, very cool editing, drone shots and music. Very tempted to try and so a 'South Downs Way (in sections' hike. Maybe 10 miles here and 10 miles there - until I finish it! Thanks for the post Russ. Going to check out Part 2 now.
Ahh thanks very much Ben! Glad you liked the vid! Definitely give it a go and thanks for watching through the episodes. If you have any questions do give me a shout.
Really enjoyed the video Russ. Found it a pleasant and relaxing experience watching this, it makes me want to get out there and walk. You make nature cool! 😎 Keep posting please!
Northern Peak haha ahh thank you so much man. There’s a few more episodes to come and I’m hiking the second 50 miles this weekend so stay tuned. Haha cheers mate, it’s growing!
Amazing video! Thankyou. I am planning on doing the walk this summer. I have never wildcamped before. Could you let me know how easy/difficult it is please? Thankyou!!
Lobe this is thinking on planning doing this with my son he loves walking and wildcamping Bushcraft etc so I’m thinking of doing it in summer this year after lockdown etc but thinking we might split it up also into two half’s where we will drive dow to half way point where ever that maybe try find some free parking etc and then catch the train down to the end and walk back to the car and the second part get dropped off half way and walk home to south croydon which I think will cross into the northdowns way as a little bit and get picked up at Reigate hill fort area
Hey, thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed the video! It’s a bit of a funny one, really hikers should camp at designated camp sites. However, if you’re discreet and pick a good spot, out of the way and set up camp at sunset you can camp almost anywhere. Here’s my SDW top tips video. th-cam.com/video/6kYVss5-0mA/w-d-xo.html Hope it helps!
Hi Russ, quick question: when you got to the halfway point, how did you get back to your vehicle at the start of the hike? This logistical point has been bugging me regarding starting a long hike, so it'd be good to know how you did it.
Hey Russ great vids, Quick question? Noticed you use a different tent from the one you reviewed in a previous vid (OEX PHOXX)! Would you recommend it? what model is it, price etc. Going South downs soon for a few days, need to invest in a cheapish 1 man tent, would you say go with the OEX or the one you used for your SDW walk. Peace and good luck brother
Hi Alex, thanks for the comment and for watching, glad you’re enjoying my videos. Sure! The OEX was my only tent for the last couple of years, but I’m going travelling very soon around SE Asia and wanted to travel light. So I went for a Zpacks Soleplex, made to order in the USA because it’s ultra light and ultra strong. I wanted to fully test it which I have now so stay tuned for the review vid coming up. Any more questions, give us a shout! Russ
Great video, top droning! We had a chat on Sunday, on Bignor Hill, a few miles before Amberley. Glad to report my cheapo Chinese Backpack made it home fully intact. Look forward to the next part, and just in case it's another scorcher weekend I found a link to water taps (one of the things we discussed at length) www.nationaltrail.co.uk/sites/default/files/sd_way_drinking_water_2013.pdf cheers Steve
S J Harris Hi Steve! Ahh thanks very much for the kind words. Haha glad your pack made it okay. Was a pleasure meeting ya. Where about did you walk to that day? I made it to Amberly so more videos to come to that point, heading back to Amberly tomorrow to make the miles to Eastbourne. Thanks for the PDF as well mate, was gonna have a search for that info, so you’ve saved me a good deal of time! Thanks again fella, hopefully we’ll meet again!
Good presentation and excellent choice of music. Indeed you are offering an experience to the "youtube consumer" and hopefully future hiker (which is most probable, considering the emotions and encouragement emanating from these videos). For me it feels that you are the "on foot Tucker Gott". But much better as your hikes are very attainable; more... "down-to-earth" and doable targets.
Hi Kenneth, I’m about to upload a video which I’ve spent so long on trying to find the right music that you might like. I’ve been so desperate to get it right for you. Can I run it by you first please?
This is definitely one of my favourites and really makes me want to get out and have a go at it myself.

Hi Russ, I've just seen your part 2 video and you answered my question there. Did you manage to get the public transport back ok?

Lovely filming. Poor music
What didn’t you like about the music specifically? Glad you enjoyed the filming. 👍
Just not my types of music. Good video otherwise. Thanks
Cheers! What is your type of music? 👍
Great video. Shite music. Couldn't finish watching it.
Oooo kenneth. Tease me with your lyrical mastery.

Hi Kenneth. I’m sorry can’t upload the video until you’re happy with it. Seriously man, your critique is invaluable to my life... x
