Can you paint first then repoint with a lime mortar afterward? I was thinking that might look cool if you use a mortar with a different color. I am digging your stuff keep it up y'all.

So I actually asked Perri about doing masonry repairs after the painting was done - a lintel needs to be patched. mortar will bond. As far as pointing after painting, I imagine it's not impossible, but would have some challenges. Maybe grind the joints, clean the brick, paint, point, touch up? it's kind of a mix of tuckpointing and changing the brick color...

Great video and awareness. We compete against Keim. Their products are great, but expensive. I would note, when you guys were applying, you are toothing it in incorrectly, you always finish at the joints and dry back roll. If the color was darker, your spots would show up all over the place. This is not a wet on wet process, so there is an art to it. Either way, it's great at least you are educating knuckleheads from using latex/acrylic or elastomeric on these types of projects.

Thanks. We’re really happy with the mineral paint so far - as well as their customer service, available product info, and the company’s ethics/values. We don’t have much experience with staining brick yet!

Is mineral paint same thing as limewash? If no, hows it different

Can you use this paint if your home has 70% old coverage of latex paint (after scraping loose flakes)?

It’s often case by case. They do make a primer that binds to older paint. I was really impressed with their tech support line. I was talking to someone incredibly knowledgeable within 4 minutes.

Is mineral paint good for painting stone basement walls?

Typically limewash is used in basements. It’s a bit cheaper - historically it was applied every few years and starts to build up a layer. The lime has moldicidal properties, too. Check out @lancasterlimeworks
