The Dunwich Building deserves mention. For a game that is filled with dark places where it is hard to see, I feel that the Dunwich building is the darkest area in the game(Fallout 3).

    Honorable mentions:
Fallout 3 - Andale, Dunwich Building, the entirety of the Point Lookout DLC
Fallout: New Vegas - Vaults 11, 22, and 34, Sierra Madre Villa (Dead Money DLC)
Fallout 4 - Pickman Gallery, Milton General Hospital parking garage, Vault 75, Vault 81's abandoned laboratory wing, Dunwich Borers, The Nucleus (Far Harbor DLC)

I think Vault 11 might be the worst of them all.

There seems to be a big one in FO76 but I'll never get to be a high enough level to reach it. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed 76 because its more about exploration than story but I always end up with a load of high level griefers.

That townhouse fucked me up the first time I went there. I turned it on just to see and my heart broke as he started the poem.
Somehow one of the Gary's managed to escape or were captured, as you can find one, sans the arm his Pip-Boy was attached to, in the Operation Anchorage DLC.
Fun bit of info. Myron and Boone share the same VA.
I know it'll likely be in a future video, but one I always think of is Dunwich Borers. What seems to be a regular mine turns out to be the location of a cult, where you see hallucinations of the past, plus the mental degradation of the raiders running the place, until you find after a small dive, the sacrificial chamber of the cult and the knife used in it resting there. There's also the half-buried face of one of the many statues that pop up around Boston in that water, so that's fun to run into when you just turned your Pip-Boy light on.

As for the animal husbandry site, the boy was likely experiencing the effects of the exposure to the radiation as well, how long did he look before he found his family, did they follow or did he carry them? No Geiger counter, no idea about the invisible flames that burn his mind.
As for the family with the Mr. Handy robot, we imagine they went peacefully in their sleep but don't even know that. To read such a poem to the child given circumstances wouldn't have been the best choice, but still. How sure are we that they went at once? How intact the house is, computer, handy and the bodies settled where they are, maybe they didn't go in their sleep but having seen the truth of the outside, shut the robot off after it picked up a final grocery list of rat poison and the like? Let them go too late in their sleep. Dog might have actually Died in the blast, but maybe them too

The Dunwich places definitely are up there and, like with the ghost bit, definitely have some seriously supernatural "literal god of terror" aspects to it. And then there's the haunted mansion in Fallout 4's Nuka World, where it's very clear nothing is right about there the second you step in and see a little girl running through a Raider filled place and none of them react to it, and at the very end she runs and disappears into a doorway that leads nowhere at all. Not to mention that little jumpscare music queue when you open the door, that was a low blow...........

I want a faster-paced FPS style in the Fallout universe of the war between the Enclave and NCR. Like, Halo and CoD in the Fallout universe, since it's "excessively superior technology against ragtag humans barely making it" and the fast paced but methodical action of CoD, with the unbelievable brutality of Fallout. Like, yeah, seeing a teammate get headshot is brutal in CoD campaigns, but are they every as brutal as seeing his head get taken off by a plasma bolt and the rest of him melts into radioactive sludge? Hell, can even spice it up with having Gears of War style combat playing as the Enclave on occasion, that's work perfectly.

I love Fallout, I love Jess, but it bothers me so much that she called it the American wasteland & not the Capitol Wasteland o.O

Well granted, the entirety of Fallout is the American Wasteland, just more specific areas within it XD

They don't need to, but also consider, there's probably not a lot still working properly up in there anymore. Probably just human survival reflex kicking in despite no need for it. Just how the brain is hardwired to be.

Notice that the majority of these are in Fallout 2, with the developers that went on to become Obsidian behind the helm. And almost none of them are in a Fallout game solely by Bethesda. You can see the focus. Black Isle/Obsidian wanted to tell a rich and dark story of what happens when people in a lawless land without civilization, and Bethesda wanted a light hearted romp that took place in a world they mistakenly believes takes place in the 50s.

New Vegas really was the true sequel to Fallout 2.

    • @darthcerebus
      @darthcerebus 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Considering it was basically the only one that could be considered a sequel to past games of the main series, since tactics could be argued to have 3 as a sequel because Harold is in both and none of them really have major interlinking plot lines and are all in the same universe anyway
