Great video. You said a bunch of things that I've been thinking for a while. Not just TTRPGs, but in video games as well, in recent years players seem to be focusing on the story aspect more than the game aspect. I hate this because it seems like they are trying to subvert a genre. If they truly like a genre, they shouldn't criticize the very fundamentals of what defines the genre. Nowadays I see gamers mock the defining elements of the genres they supposedly are fans of by referring to these beloved foundations as "tropes" that need to be done away with.
What I would like to know is why do people who like rules-lite games even play RPGs? Why not just play Candyland or tic-tac-toe or something? Those games have hardly any rules and they are simple enough that even rules-lite advocates could probably understand them.
Give me crunch, give me rules. If I want light... I'll go sit around a camp fire and make up stories. Just my preference for what I want to play. People should just play what they are interested in and not listen to others. Try something new to you, even it if is old. My favorite RPG is Powers & Perils ;)

Excellent video, can't be clearer about the topic! I love the term "crispy games", I'm going to start using it, haha.
If they can call our games crunchy, we can call their games crispy.
Yes exactly, Bob, what do you have to say for yourself?
