Question... HOW could you not have heard this song before? I mean, it's Lara Fabian... I don't even listen to her and I've heard Je suis malade... it's one of the most famous songs of all time (at least here in Europe... I don't know if in the US it's not even famous cause it's in French)... I'm even more stunned by you not having heard this song before than you were with Lara's utterly ridiculous vocal perfection...
FYI … in September 2021, Serge Lama gave a 10 minutes interview on the story of this song ( and the woman who inspired this song) at the French television show names « the secret life of songs ». Even if it is in French, II suggested you to have a look… th-cam.com/video/INop46TOmhY/w-d-xo.html
Just look what's here. No smoke, no flashing lights, no dancers, no backup singers, "no auto tune", just Lara Fabian alone in the middle of a stage. No place to hide. Just her voice and her emotion. This is a master class in performance art ! No mortal can touch her !
I love your review of this… I’ve been a fan of Lara… I bought he CD in a rural record store in Drogheda Ireland in the late 90’s …. And have been hooked ever since… to this day cannot get through some of her vocal performances without a physical emotional response…. She is unbelievable.. and your reviews are equally amazing…..❤
When the song ends and she is getting a standing ovation you can see her trying to pull herself back out of the song. She is visibly shaking! Just incredible!
But two minutes later she prances about the stage singing a happy number. She is a great performer with great acting skills - see Mademoiselle Zhivago.
Frank Birch Totally agree. I always thought Lara could/should have been an actress if she didn’t have succeeded in singing. Her scenic interpretations are always whole and sincere.

I am an 85 year old classically trained singer and, like you had never heard of Lara Fabian. This is one the best performances I have ever heard and, if one can listen to this without tearing up, you have no emotion. She was born in Belgium, was raised in Italy, knew she was born to sing at five, spent ten years in classic voice training, moved to Canada when she was twenty and speaks French, Italian and English fluently. Currently she is approx 50 and still singing.
I"m french and I want to add some details. The original song was performed by a french singer named Serge Lama and the music was composed by a woman Alice dona in 1973. So it"s a wonderfull and astonishing cover made by Lara who's belgium/canadian. This version is a masterpiece which makes me cry every time I listen to it. I love you Lara !!!!
I was in Paris, Summer of 2000, and in my hotel room, turned the TV on, sudenly in the TV screen was an incredible beauty woman singing like an Angel, I didn't know who she was, but she conquered me at once. I was so lucky that day, when I came down to the lobby, the girl in there was very nice and we started talking, I told her about Lara and she told me that she has a concert that night, I don't how she got a ticket for me and I spent that night in the best musical experience of my live. Since that moment I fell in love with her. Today, 20 years later, my admiration and love for her is intact. Merci Lara, Notre Ange
Lucky , very lucky you!! I just now 2021, found out who she is!!! I’m totally smitten by her voice, her incredible performances, thank God for u-tube. I’m forever became a fan!!! Why wasn’t she more known in the USA??????? She would’ve topped EVERYONE!! My God, what a talent. Lucky you to have witnessed a concert! I’ll bet you thought that was yesterday, you still remember each and every moment right? 👍👌🥰
@@veralang5261 I guess you can thank René Angelil for that. He did all he could to close the gates of the North American music market for her. With all the respect due to the career, technique and awesomeness of Céline Dion, it did keep Lara in her huge shadow. She should have had a much bigger career.
This is one of the most complete, emotionally generous, technically perfect and theatrically coherent singing exhibitions I have ever heard in my life while taking the French Chanson to another level. The ability to flow virtuosically and so naturally from a narrating airy pianissimo to a full painful round singing, always choosing the "right" color is of a truly rare quality. This is beyond singing. This is a cathartic humanly experience where pain and beauty merge to oneness. The highest level of a performing Art. Thankyou for introducing this phenomena. I didn't know her before.
Yours is the best description of Lara's performances which often times bring me to tears, or pulls me out from deep sleep at night. And she conveys the same feelings in any of the many languages she masters! That piano and guitar in this version make it still more amazing!
Lara Fabian; one of the best female singer and performers ever. She lives every word of the song and makes you feel it. Perfect in multiple languages. Her live performances are master pieces; Je suis malade, Adagio, Caruso, Broken Vow and many more. Can't wait for this reaction. 💖💖💥💥👍
I'd recommend Banda Magda. Greek, French, Porteugese, and many others (except english). She radiates joy in her performances and is just a pleasure to watch.
When she was a child people said she was "too empathic" 😒 like her parents needed to do something about it. Thank God that transfered in adulthood. I watched her sing this live and cried like a baby.
closing in on bday 79 and have always feasted on hours of music every day... have seen and heard the best across many countries, THIS IS BEST PERFORMANCE EVER for me. EVER!!
@@TheCharismaticVoice I'd go further and say platinum. She is by far my favourite singer of all time.Celine can't touch her.I never understood why she was not more known for her excellence. When she sings Broken Vow and for Always she also takes you on an emotional journey. She has a truly ethereal voice.
@@TheCharismaticVoice :) (sorry if my English isn't really always good cause I'm French) Hello, I discover your channel today and so subscribed. And your emotion has so much touch me. I must admit that for myself I never resist to this song and have much difficulty to not express it by tears. There are so few songs and performers who achieve this feat. Maybe two or three at most. So it was even more difficult in this video when I felt like you yourself were about to let one of it leak out and run down your cheek. I am 53 years old tomorrow and I know this song since its release in 1973. Indeed, Serge Lama had sent the autographed record (LP) of his hand to my mother. My father had worked as a valet (person responsible for driving and parking cars) at L'Olympia (Paris) by Bruno Coquatrix a few years earlier (at the end of the 60s so). And so, it allowed him to get to know certain artists who often performed for several weeks on stage including Serge Lama (who at that time was not yet very well known since he was the opening act for an artist. more confirmed than him). So I have a special link with this song that I heard so much. Serge Lama has written and performed many wonderful songs such as "La chanteuse a vingt ans" (The singer is twenty years old) which immediately reminds us of Edith Piaf or Barbara as soon as we listen it (even if it's perhaps not at all of them whose discussed). But also "Les Glycines" which evokes an impossible love between two cousins. Or "L'enfant d'un autre" (The Child of Another) which speaks of a man unhappy to be separated from a woman who had a child from a previous affair and to whom he was terribly attached. And of course "D'aventures en aventures" (From adventures to adventures) which evokes his wife whom he lost in a terrible car accident which he had in his youth, died of her wounds and he who remained hospitalized for many months (that's why he limps with his right leg since). Coming back to Lara Fabian's phenomenal performance, I'd just like to point out two things that maybe you didn't bring up (like I said I don't speak fluent English so sometimes it's difficult to understand exactly everything you're saying). The first is the fact that she leans forward several times as if to support the words and let out the feeling they cause, as if in some way she was vomiting them. For that she was, I think, inspired by Serge Lama himself, who very often practices this gesture in his songs and of course in "Je suis malade" (I am sick) of which he wrote the lyrics (the music is by Alice Dona) . The second is when she says "I drink every night and ...". In a fraction of a second her voice becomes rocky just like that of a woman who would make a scandal outside under the effects of alcohol because she's very unhappy and in distress. It's just perfect. At this moment, we say to ourselves that she's an incomparable singer who could just as well be a very great actress. :)
@@karenmurphy7624 becaus lara sing in french and the world is american ==> english you can to be the best in the world if you sing in french or italin you will never be recognized but if you sing in englisn even a stupid words like (yellow submarine ) you are n°1
@@morphilou It's pretty well known that Fabian was signed by Sony when they had Celine Dion (who was taking a hiatus due to having a baby, I believe.) Dion's people were fretting that Fabian would cut into Dion's market share and were instrumental in getting Sony to first push Fabian into more a dance music direction then cancel her time working with collaborators she'd been promised/hoped to work with. And then dropping her/Fabian gave up and returned to working in Europe, Russia, Asia, South America. In the end, knowing how important writing and producing is to her, it probably was the best for her. Not the best for me and my fellow Americans though. 😢 I've really liked a few of Dion's songs, but to me Dion to Fabian is like an 8 pack of Crayola Crayons vs the 120 Deluxe Box set. 🤷🏻♀️
I am stricken by how overwhelmed she appears after she finishes. She can't seem to find the energy to acknowledge her ovation. I think it must have been part of her performance, but that just shows how committed she was to it. After she stopped singing, she was still communicating her emotion. Magnificent!
Fun fact: Dimash said Lara is his idol. She speaks 5 languages, plays instruments, compose and write songs, emotional investment, keep going for music higher degree. The path Dimash is going is like a multi talented artist just like Lara
👍🧙♂️🐺 yes , from the beginning of the last note, to her awakening.. It has been timed at approximately 2(+) minutes!!?? The last long note, Is right at 17.5... seconds!! In the accapella part, In the 3rd line, she lowers her mic,so as to not blow it out, on the phrase" that's it",a belting power riff to accompany it, she took out 2 mics in rehearsals..till they got it right on the mic drop.. N most don't hear any volume change..because she is soooo powerful, vocally! An amazing artist,to be sure!! 🎶👍🧙♂️🐺🤙🎶
One of my absolute favorite performances, ever! The album version is nowhere near this recording, the emotion in her voice, her body language, her face, the vocal control,... she’s completely living the song. Did you know ‘malade’ doesn’t only mean ‘sick’, but also ‘insane’, and you can actually SEE and HEAR the meaning of the word change throughout the song. The crazed laugh coming out of the word at the end is pure emotion. Such a great performance!
Exactly, malade means insane also but not crazy insane, to commit her to a lunatic asylum, it’s just total desperation from her lost love. Funny I am writing this comment on Valentines Day.
Lara is amazing but I would also give credits to Serge Lama for writing the lyrics. His version is just as breathtaking, especially if you understand French. It's an even sadder song if you know the context it's been written in.
@@richardblais7445 Serge Lama was having an affair, it was love at first sight but both of them were married. They both loved each other in secret for years, and eventually planned to break up with who they were with at the time. That woman changed her mind and had to move to another country, which obviously left Serge devastated, and he decided to write this song to express his pain. The funny thing is that song was written in a hurry (more or less 20 minutes, according to him)! Roughly 10 years later they found each other again, got married, had a child together, but she eventually died from a stroke which gave to the song a whole new meaning...
I can't get this performance out of my head. It's a one act opera in one song, exceptional in every way 17 seconds on one note delivered perfectly after the entire emotional journey of a song. That is just ferociously brrave. It's like head banging opera.
Watching Elizabeth Zharoff's reaction is almost as fantastic as hearing Lara Fabian's singing: the AMAZEMENT, almost the stupefaction expressed by Zharoff's gaze and her mouth is absolutely thrilling! Eliciting such reactions is exactly what music should be about!
Lara is so phenomenal and captivating that it was kind of easy for me to first not realise that this is a great composition that stands on its own without vocalist-at least, to me.
This song was released in 1973 by Serge Lama. It was written due to a heartbreak he endured after someone very special left him. Mrs. Lara Fabian has done this song justice by adding a woman’s heart felt feelings possibly for the same reasons. I am grateful you decided to react to this song since, and with some minor changes, it falls into your wheelhouse of “singable” songs. On a personal note, should you decide to grace the stage with your presence, please let us know. Patrick S.
I love when people react to Lara Fabian, because most have not heard of her before. She is an amazing singer and vocalist. I feel as though it is a huge disservice for vocal coaches who do not react to her because her popularity isn't as high can make them miss and someone so special. She self-describes herself as a song-writer with a voice. Though she didn't write Je Suis Malade, she really makes it her own and convinces you that she must have written it. She also said one time when she started out as a small time singer, that no one paid her any attention, so she said she had to demand people to want to watch her. Hence the theatrical nature of her gestures and singing. You may not see this, but aside from the common recommendations, I HIGHLY recommend you react to: 1) A Piece of Sky/Papa Can You Hear Me (She's wearing a white suit in a very old video) 2) Voir un Ami Pleure (En Toute Intima). The second song I listed is a lot like this one. She doesn't do anything vocally crazy, but if you want to react how she acts through her singing...that is a good one too. 3) Je'taime - she has many performances, but personally I love " Lara Fabian Je t'aime Les années tubes ". Other common recommendations: Adagio, Broken Vow, Caruso, You're Not From Here all from the same concert as this one. One thing I loved about your reaction today is you really hit the nail on the head with who she is, without knowing anything about her.
lol in amreina may be but in europe everybody know lara fabian ans other very good singer it is a question of text (the french and italian text >>> english tex but unknown in the usa)
I was curious, knowing that Fabian is a talented composer and songwriter - and producer- herself, so I dug up Serge Lama's early recordings and performances. Long story short, Fabian fiddled around with the arrangement pretty extensively, and every choice added to the dramatic build perfectly. So much so, after this, Lama incorporated some of her choices into his own performance, like making that one section a cappella.
Dear Kevin I can't agree more in both respects. You sure hit the nail regarding Lara's "give it all" performance as well as Elizabeth' profound and empathic reaction. At least to me Lara's piece is one perfect example for the most universal and beautiful language we have: Music. Greetings from Germany
the transition to an an a cappella sequence at 8:28 was especially breathtaking ! if I gave my life, my love and my singing career to someone who didn't care for me.........I'd feel the absolute despair she does.........MALADE!........
I'm into lots of different styles of music, mostly metal, punk and rock, but nothing gets more than a powerful, emotional vocal performance and Lara is all about carrying the actual lyrics into actual emotions. This very song gets me every time.
After watching this performance of Lara's about 30-40 times (and loving it every time!) I got to notice some nice moments I didn't see originally. An absolute sign of total respect from the audience is when no one, I mean no one, moves even an inch during the performance. And then at the conclusion when Lara gets a standing ovation, instead of the audience eventually all standing they almost, as a group, get up as one immediately after the music stops. Even the piano player almost crushed his keys on his final note. Meanwhile, Lara is trying to emotionally get out of the song.......Spectacular stuff! And, Elizabeth, you made the whole experience even more wonderful with your fantastic reaction and analysis (as usual)!
This never grows old. I probably saw/heard it for thousand times, it still is so powerful. A genuine masterclass. Young singers, this is what performing means.
in another version of the song, she collapses on the stage at the end. Deliberately, for effect, and boy was it effective - no-one expected that. she's wonderful.
Elizabeth: your face said it all - as did Lara's. She was still in character for nearly a minute after the song had finished...Awesome! Great reaction - thank you.
Im a native french speaker - from Québec. Growing up, I didnt understand why french always have to be so complicated compared to other languages. (I mean, objects have gender, wtf !?! Also, there's more verb times in french than in english. etc.) But I will be honest, listening at Lara singing this song makes me feel so privileged. Now I understand why some people are saying that it is one of the most beautiful language. The french language allows to play with the words to make some nuances that are just impossible to do in english.
She is living absolutely every word she sings as she performs this song & If you watch this performance with the frencn & english subtitles you'll see how truly deep this song is as it speaks of a love that has gone wrong & she can't let go & if she can not escape this love will end up killing her.. The moment when she symbolically slashes her own throat as she speaks of pouring her blood into him.... So Powerful..... & you actually watch her pull herself back to the now and be slightly shocked as she remembers there's an audience with her Thank you for this absolutely soul touching review
Lara is a superstar and totally grabs your heart when she sings.Technically she is superb but it’s so much more than that, her voice is incredible. I can’t think of another singer who can carry the vulnerability of emotions and yet control when she performs.
This lady should be a mega star , better then all of the female singers that I heard , gaga , swift , Beyonce , etc . How come this lady hasn't done a world tour , I would definitely pay top dollar to see her live ❤
All in one short comments...i can write a lot about this but it's not necessary, So much EMOTIONS in this perfomance... So beautiful,..goose bumps, my eyes are wet......it really touch..
She is so amazing. I discovered this video when looking for French songs of my past, and couldn't stop it in my head. I had to listen to it every day sometimes more than once a day because it haunted me. Listen to her other songs. They're all masterpieces
Try the original version: Serge Lama - Je suis malade. This song was written for a man. It's powerful too. Lara had to put all her soul into it. It couldn't be otherwise.
Discovered by chance a year or two ago! Was completely in awe from the first song & Lara is still my favourite female vocalist of all time. I aspire to sing even a little, like her!! What a talent...
This performance makes me cry every single time. Lara goes really deep when she get's into this song. I'm looking forward to your reaction. I expect it will be nothing less than exceptional and emotional. 💗
And in the end, she holds that emotion for about 30 second, while the crowd cheer. I've just found this amazing performance on other channels. Then came across her live in Paris trying to sing 'je t'aime'. It seems she has many devoted fans and rightly so. Worth watching. Sheer brilliance.
I discovered her 2 years ago and she is one of my favorite singers (male or female) , even though I don't understand any other language besides English. Her outpouring of emotions through her singing, her facial expression, her body movements, being "in the moment" is incredible.
Even if French is not a language you are familiar with it makes you get really emotional because of how she is performing the song.. it has tremendous feel and emotion❤
I have been captured by Lara's wrecked emotion in this performance. What I also enjoy is the song she follows up with immediately after. She sings "I Will Love Again" and totally recovers and brings the audience to a very upbeat positive emotion. She has an amazing ability to connect with her audience. In her Paris show, "Un Regard 9 Live" there is one song where the audience continues to sing longer than her performance. In that show she also reveals an inner child playfully. I love her singing.
Small but extremely expressive details that convey emotion like the way she uses quivering inhales the way you breathe when you are sobbing is just amazing
Those lyrics hurt so much. It's great. Don't overlook the guitar in the end, it really compliments the buildup at the end so perfectly, enhancing everything she does. Brilliant composition in every way in this song.
I have seen every reaction to this soneg in last three days since I discovered Lara. I have seen this particular reaction at least five times already. I have seen this performance at least 50 times. I am addicted. But don't send help, finally I found an addiction worth having. Scratch having, nurturing.
@@TheCharismaticVoice Thank you for the reaction videos! If you want to see the 'cabaret' version, watch her live concert that was filmed at the Olympia Paris. th-cam.com/video/wUOaZZ_vLoM/w-d-xo.html it starts at 1:28:33. Absolutely beautiful. I live in France and discovered her several years ago and still think that is one of the best vocal performances of all time. Stunning.
Lara Fabian has one of the best female voices on the Planet and, when you combine her artistry, it is one of the best performances I have ever seen!! The emotion is so over- whelming that, I need to wipe tears from my face so that I can see.
She is indeed a legend. It is not by chance that Dimash looks up to Lara. "Je t'aime" is also a phenomenal song. There is a live version where the audience is just amazing and Lara again, is able to "on the fly" opt for perfect nuances and changes. I live her voice, her colours but above that, her delivery is an example to most female (or male) singers. Thank you, Elizabeth for bringing such fun and joy to your analysis and reactions. You always keep it professional and real but you bring this joy and passion about the entire process that is so contagious. Thank you so much for that.
Her all songs which she's wrote and sining phenomenal...why I'm not learned Italian and French!!! Each her performance it's a LIVE and she's telling us story with all her heart! I love Lara Fabian ❤️
This performance is obviously amazing. Her lyrical style captures the tradition of Jacques Brel, Léo Ferré and Barbara : three major singers and poets in Belgium and France.
Also, this song written by Serge Lama is a masterpiece. A singer could add and put forward strong emotions to the song. Obviously Laura is outstanding and she is a talented artist.
I know, right ? I have become somewhat obsessed with this particular performance and i listen to it over and over. I get chills every time and it's not even that i can relate to the story ! Amazing.
My music choices have always been based on artists that truly move me with their performances, and Lara Fabian has always done that. Every song comes straight from the heart with deep feelings, like she believes the lyrics completely. One of my favorites is "Caruso". It makes me cry every time I listen to it!
I belong to those who recommended this video to you, and i really thank you for your genuine and formidable reaction! I've grown listening to her songs and incredible performances, and i can only be delighted when i can make someone discover the wonderful talent she is. In France when she was at the pick of her popularity, people considered her as an equal of Celine Dion and such divas, yet today with internet i've realised that even if litterraly everyone knows Celine, not so much people knows about Lara Fabian, or at least appreciate her as being a truly incredible singer and performer. Thank you again for the reation ! If i had to recommend my faves from her, it would be : "Adagio", and "Perdere l'Amore". (spoiler alert: both have the same kind of ending as this one: like, a long held note, after a progressing buildup throughout the song)
Wouaouh thank for this reaction... you are as Magical as Lara's voice is emotional. She is the resonnance Canon.. Maybe, can i suggest you " adagio" , " extrait de yentl " if you like the Brodway performance, "je t'aime " with subtiles, " you'r not from here " absolutly amazing, " caruso " with subtiles, "perdere l'amore" , "requiem pour un fou" in a duet with a famous french singer this one.. no words... many many more. Madame Lara Fabian deserves that we dwell on it really... Thanks againtake care of you and i still excited for the next one by Lara Fabian.
Lara Fabian is one of my favorite singers of all time. Her passion and talent is unmatched. I've also enjoyed your reviews of the Righteous Brothers - also one of my favorite singers ever. Have had the pleasure of hearing them in person a number of times (both together and individually!). Unchained Melody I've always considered one of the most beautiful songs (That also was Bill Medley's appraisal when Bobby Finished the song one time when I saw them in the 1980's). Today, I came across Jonathan Antoine's live version of Unchained Melody in Thousand Oaks, CA a few years ago and was utterly transfixed. As you know, that song was written in the late 40's or early 50's and has been performed many times over the ensuing years by a no. of different artists. Jonathan's performance is the ONLY one I now put on an equal level with Bobby Hatfield's. Prior to today, I never heard one comparable to Bobby's. PLEASE, PLEASE review Jonathan's version of Unchained Melody. I hope you do and can't wait!
Lara Fabian is unique! She sings with emotion, she adds her soul in every note, and her voice is perfect. I believe this is one of her best live performance.
The break 8:47 - 8:50 is so amazing. It really stands out to me. An immensely emotional break, kind of a mix of a Laugh and a Cry. Reminds my a bit of arabic singing. A real tearjerker that just commands full emptional envolvment.
In a live show in Paris 2001, the crowd just overtook the song "Je t'aime" before she could even start signing. An amazing video, you can see how emotional she gets. Towards the end you can see how the sheer size of the crowd could make anyone melt in tears, but she stands tall and just takes it all in. What a Dame.
I'm french and in my mind you should react to "Requiem pour un fou" (Requiem for a fool) by Johnny Hallyday with Lara Fabian in the french stadium. It was an amazing performance. I love "Broken Vow" and "Adagio" too, 2 wonderful songs.
Lara Fabian is one the best singer I know. Each time, I hear that song by her I cry. And I heard it at least a hundred times! It is so powerful and full of emotions. I just so beautiful!

Love this story, life can be magical sometimes.
I'm jealous! I just discovered her this year and I'm so mad I didn't know of her earlier
OMG what a story!!!!!! ❤️
Most people sing the words, Lara sings the emotions.
Lara didn't just sing, she BECAME the song. A story made alive, each emotion and each word meant with all their glory.
This is not a song, it is an entire DIMENSION
In my opinion this goes down as one of the best performances ever!!! 💖💖
I envy your mastery of wordsmithing. Expertly said.

Has she ever sang the intro to a James bond movie. That's what her emotion made me think of for some reason.
I'd recommend Banda Magda. Greek, French, Porteugese, and many others (except english). She radiates joy in her performances and is just a pleasure to watch.
"Je suis malade" has two senses, at first it means "I'm sick", but at the end you can hear "I went mad"
J en ai lus des commentaires et j attendais tellement que quelqu un parle de la 2 eme signification de je suis malade. Merci enfin quelqu un qui l a compris comme moi a la fin. She was still in the emotions at least 30 secs after the performance - just amazing
Thank you Elizabeth. This was beautiful.
I haven't seen it yet, but it deserves a like since it's Lara Fabian and I just know what happens with people and this song
As much as I enjoyed, Lara voice. I enjoyed your expressings, on your beautiful face.
When she was a child people said she was "too empathic" 😒 like her parents needed to do something about it. Thank God that transfered in adulthood. I watched her sing this live and cried like a baby.
Lmao I'm definitely the "too empathic" here, there are some songs that I can't sing without crying how many times I try 😂😂😂
There is no such thing as too empathetic. People are silly. ;)
@@lazaruslong697 You clearly aren't one if you think that lol, it sucks being one.

I've really liked a few of Dion's songs, but to me Dion to Fabian is like an 8 pack of Crayola Crayons vs the 120 Deluxe Box set.

Lara Fabian is a very underevaluated singer even if shes one of the best singers in the world
One of my absolute favorite performances, ever!
A lot of covers included je t'aime and la différence on my channel th-cam.com/video/2Lgf7HpfXhU/w-d-xo.html
It's an even sadder song if you know the context it's been written in.
i dont know the context its been written in but i would like to know..love lara a lot

It's a one act opera in one song, exceptional in every way
17 seconds on one note delivered perfectly after the entire emotional journey of a song.
Don’t see you speechless very often!!!!!!
Patrick S.
..this is one of my “crying like a child” songs. I only have to listen 5 cords. Laura is giving so much of her pain and soul in this song, incredible.
Yup, this one and Death of Music live from Devin Townsend. If I really want to expunge misery.
You may not see this, but aside from the common recommendations, I HIGHLY recommend you react to:
1) A Piece of Sky/Papa Can You Hear Me (She's wearing a white suit in a very old video)
2) Voir un Ami Pleure (En Toute Intima).
One thing I loved about your reaction today is you really hit the nail on the head with who she is, without knowing anything about her.
lol in amreina may be
but in europe everybody know lara fabian ans other very good singer
it is a question of text (the french and italian text >>> english tex but unknown in the usa)
Dear Kevin
I can't agree more in both respects. You sure hit the nail regarding Lara's "give it all" performance as well as Elizabeth' profound and empathic reaction.
At least to me Lara's piece is one perfect example for the most universal and beautiful language we have:
Music.
Greetings from Germany
Not only is she beautiful and her voice but the music is just as beautiful too. Absolutely fabulous all the way around
the transition to an an a cappella sequence at 8:28 was especially breathtaking ! if I gave my life, my love and my singing career to someone who didn't care for me.........I'd feel the absolute despair she does.........MALADE!........

Lara Fabian - Caruso. Absolutely to die for!
I'm into lots of different styles of music, mostly metal, punk and rock, but nothing gets more than a powerful, emotional vocal performance and Lara is all about carrying the actual lyrics into actual emotions. This very song gets me every time.
Probably the best female singer alive in her Genre!
Amazing talent!
❤merci vraiment du coeur ...C'est merveilleux votre façon de témoigner, d'analyser le talent vocal si expressif de Lara Fabian....Merci..
And, Elizabeth, you made the whole experience even more wonderful with your fantastic reaction and analysis (as usual)!
barely a minute into the clip and tears are welling from my eyes. Her voice touched my heartstrings.
Lara Fabian can sing "Happy Birthday" & make you cry.

Unbelievable. This is the beauty of the French language though tbh. I can't imagine this song in English being as powerful
English subtitles are present on other versions of this performance by Lara Fabian on TH-cam for us non-French speakers.

& you actually watch her pull herself back to the now and be slightly shocked as she remembers there's an audience with her
Thank you for this absolutely soul touching review
Lara is a superstar and totally grabs your heart when she sings.Technically she is superb but it’s so much more than that, her voice is incredible. I can’t think of another singer who can carry the vulnerability of emotions and yet control when she performs.
This lady should be a mega star , better then all of the female singers that I heard , gaga , swift , Beyonce , etc . How come this lady hasn't done a world tour , I would definitely pay top dollar to see her live ❤

What a talent...
This performance makes me cry every single time. Lara goes really deep when she get's into this song. I'm looking forward to your reaction. I expect it will be nothing less than exceptional and emotional. 💗
Absolutely amazing. I almost believe it's an autobiographical song although I hope not. One woman singing her heart out alone, on a stage. Impressive.
I'm so happy the world is discovering Lara. I always said she should have been AT LEAST as big as an international star as Céline Dion.
Just listened to it on a tiktok and I thought "SHE MUST HAVE LISTENED TO IT" and come here to find you listening to it. Perfect.
In a very different note but at least as emotionnal as this one, is the song "Amsterdam" by Jacques Brel.
She is my favorite female singer, I'm so happy than you finally hear one of my favorite song of all time (yes i'm french).
I am too and she is my favourite singer at all. She is amazing 🤩.
Small but extremely expressive details that convey emotion like the way she uses quivering inhales the way you breathe when you are sobbing is just amazing
I love the way she incorporates a kind of “snort”or “choking” sound because she is sick with emotion.
Goosebumps galore!!
This is breathtaking! I love her. We have the chance to have Lara as a coach in The Voice (Quebec version). Have a great day all!
Those lyrics hurt so much. It's great. Don't overlook the guitar in the end, it really compliments the buildup at the end so perfectly, enhancing everything she does. Brilliant composition in every way in this song.

She is the best singer i ever heard hands down.
Lara Fabian is unique! She sings with emotion, she adds her soul in every note, and her voice is perfect. I believe this is one of her best live performance.
I, 50+ y.o. man actually got GOOSEBUMPS listening to this absolutely brilliant masterpiece!
Please, please watch her as the songs ends and she remains in character. She really lived this number.
The break 8:47 - 8:50 is so amazing. It really stands out to me. An immensely emotional break, kind of a mix of a Laugh and a Cry. Reminds my a bit of arabic singing. A real tearjerker that just commands full emptional envolvment.
You right no one can stop listening to her
In a live show in Paris 2001, the crowd just overtook the song "Je t'aime" before she could even start signing.
I love "Broken Vow" and "Adagio" too, 2 wonderful songs.
wahou mais tellement un duo mythique
And the good thing for me is that they are both half Belgian. Small country, big tallent.
@@ubronM Belgium has so many great artists it's insane, Brel, Lara, Stromae, Angèle, Damso etc...
Lara Fabian is one the best singer I know. Each time, I hear that song by her I cry. And I heard it at least a hundred times!
It is so powerful and full of emotions. I just so beautiful!
I love Lara fabian she is amazing, the best interpreter of the world.
Lara interprète magistralement cette chanson , elle y dégage tellement d'émotion , elle est comme possédée , c'est l'une de mes chansons préférée comme celle de mon coeur .
