OMG yes! I mean Coldplay? I even had forgotten about Black Lab but I heard this song while recently watching The Real World Seattle and hunted it down. Such a crime. This song is amazing.
Theyre still here! Making music, new album in the works as we speak! During this crazy pandemic Paul has been having podcasts and lives for fans! Great music but kind and genuinely love their fans! ❤🤘🙏
Daaang... lucky you. I just found this song a month ago watching the Real World Seattle. 🤣🤣. Been listening to this band since and I dig them more n more. Wish I woulda know about them since back then. Cheers 😎🤘🤘
I don't comment on here much....I do listen to a lot of music though. I have listened to these guys for forever. I currently sit here at 430am and am just running through a bunch of 90s gems that take me back to a time that is forever gone and never forgotten ❤️ This song in particular takes me back SOOO clearly to the 2nd job I ever had. I worked at a place called Laurel falls at the time, it was an amusement place with games, go carts, batting cages, mini golf and so on. It is also where I met the love of my life. I remember very vividly closing the place down and hanging out afterwards. Her and I would climb up ontop of the mini golf rocks, like 10 feet up and lay on top and just enjoy being with eachother....but this song would be on while we were up there....forever it's burnt into my memories. While I was a dummy and let her go some time well after that....she still talks to me to this day. I am married (unhappily) and have 2 kids I would absolutely die for. But....every now and then I see her, and we talk often through Instagram...she has never been married and at 41.....she still holds out hope for us. Part of me wonders if it is just to fill a void, though I highly doubt it. Don't screw around with your lives people.....live in the moment...some things you may never ever get back. Sometimes there's still hope. Thanks, ya'll rock and keep listening to that good shit!
most recent comment was four years ago (correction: maybe a year? i don't fucking care) a comment on a major online forum could feel lonely, this is it. i love this song. 1998 was the best year of my life. i grew up in the twin falls area, and this band makes me proud to say so.
One of the most underrated bands ever, for sure. My buddy Chris and I got the pleasure to sit with the lead singer for maybe 15 minutes. He was so nice. He walked with a cane, so I am not sure what his ailment was. But he hung out, signed CDs, and just chatted. Real nice guy.
this song is timeless and despite lack of a major label or radio play they are STILL making amazing music. all of their albums are brilliant and their brand new album "A New World" is the best surprise of the year. sooooo good
If anyone is interested, Paul Durham is the force behind Black Lab and has released a HOST of music since these days. A fallout with the record label led to them not recording again for years, but he's done songs for 'The Shield,' 'House,' and a number of movies, too. Check them out!
This song might just be perfect, so much raw emotion. I Still remember picking up my girlfriend who was my first love and her telling me to put on the song that said, remember baby, i'd tell its called time ago..she never remembered the name just knew it said remember baby...Damn that was almost 15 yrs ago and this song never gets old.
I was 18 when I saw black lab at the crowbar in state college pa. 22 years ago. I got the chance to stand in a long line and meet them. I asked the singer what they did to make it, he said “we wrote good songs, NEXT!” As he motioned to the next person in line. Good times. Lol
Wow I was 19 when this came out. I played this CD with my headphones on and walked all over New York City being young and care free.....Great memories, Great song!!!!
This video doesn't even come close to doing this beautiful song justice. Love the tragedy, sadness and romance in both the lyric, melody and production...
Definitely an amazing song that should bring anyone from that era to a place that is full of emotions. Joy, nostalgia, and so many memories. Possibly sadness but yet let's you smile in the end because it's about Love, and Love endures forever.
It's amazing how quickly a song can take you back. I remember listening to this song in the car off a cd my first love had made for me, tears pouring down my face because we had just broken up. Man, I can feel it like it was yesterday.
I still vividly remember hearing this song one clear spring morning, and just knew to my core that I would one day hear it and think of the girl I loved so deeply back then, and that I'd remember clearly just how that love felt through these lyrics. I still remember the almost chilly breeze carrying the scent of salt water, the play of the dawning light on the waves. It's a shame that we don't often recognize the beauty of our present lives and how fleeting it is doomed to be, until after the petals have withered and curled. Sad that we don't know to plant those seeds so we can find the flowers and clover later.
Love this whole album. Can't believe these guys weren't huge. I remember laying in bed naked with a girl I loved in high school just staring at her with her eyes closed when I first heard this on the radio.
This was my introduction to Black Lab and Paul's amazing voice. This song reminds me of sneaking out of my house and smoking Honey Bee cigarettes. Carefree teenage stuff :)
Best album of that year to me. The parts of the video that always get me inside is one: When he stops playing and looks into the crowd, seeing nothing but her everywhere. And the last scene, of her by a phone booth. I always tear up watching this, but those two parts hit me every time. everyone had that "one" love that when you look back, you remember certain things. No matter who you meet in life, you never forget your first, a love as timeless as this song. Song always chokes me up. Beautiful
Just turned on 90’s4Eva on Tv. Omg, The words just flowed out like I never forget them. I haven’t heard this song in 20yrs. #Timeless #WhenMusicHadFeeling
I just heard this at a PC Richard's speaker model and was taken back to my teenage years! I love this song oh so much ... love you guys! We had good times didn't we ♥
lost my girlfriend, moved to another state, and remember listening to this song for hours. A great song that never got the credit and also a great album. Thanks for the memories.
Underrated but one of the best , so nostalgic remembering my college life listening to NU 107 fm , missing those times and one of the best moments and highlights of my life , 90s rock are the best . . Im sad im so old
Remember seeing them with Our Lady Peace and being completely fascinated by both bands. This beautiful song popped in my head for some reason and I am so happy to hear it again. It's a jewel of nostalgia.
J'ai découvert ce groupe par hasard en écoutant "This Night", utilisée pour une autre vidéo, et j'ai adoré cette chanson !! Elle est obsédante...Ce groupe mérite d'être encore plus connu, et a besoin de plus de fans !!! Good good music !!!
It's very subtle - I like how it doesn't happen the first time through, then is very quiet the 2nd time and louder the 3rd. People knew how to put cool stuff like that in songs back then! Great song! I preferred this one to "Wash it Away."
This song is one of my favorite songs ever made, I listen to all genre's old and new, but this song just resonates somewhere deep within. I think it would probably do that to anyone that has any idea what Love is, also being a teen in the 90's probably helps. Thank you for creating this TH-cam video and thank you to Black Lab for making a amazing timeless masterpiece
One of the most underrated bands ever. First heard this song in 1997 I believe, when I was in the Army stationed in Tacoma, Washington. 20 years later, things are different.
This was the song that was playing on my radio cassette when a police reported to us that my father was shot dead. I was on my bed listening to this looking at the window as my mother talked to the police.
That whole album was amazing. His voice is so distinctive, i went years without hearing it, one song triggered it and now i am revisiting each song. In case you were wondering, i had it on cassette tape and made mom a fan too as i played it every chance i got!
One of my favorite CDs in my collection..great album from a very under recognized band...this is a music style that U2 was supposed to evolve into but they missed the bus.
How can the universe let Coldplay become stadium gods yet let amazing artists like Black Lab slowly drift into the night..? Life isn’t fair.
OMG yes! I mean Coldplay? I even had forgotten about Black Lab but I heard this song while recently watching The Real World Seattle and hunted it down. Such a crime. This song is amazing.
@@MamacitasBikini I saw Black Lab play at a chili cook-off in Washington DC and went out the next day to buy the CD.
Theyre still here! Making music, new album in the works as we speak! During this crazy pandemic Paul has been having podcasts and lives for fans! Great music but kind and genuinely love their fans! ❤🤘🙏
@@Kind-hearted0000 Do you have a link to their music?
No life isn’t fair but 3 years later I’m sure you’ve figured out you are 1 in a million literally
Saw Black Lab in State College, PA at the Crow Bar, 25 years ago. I miss the small venue shows.
2023, and this song still gives me goosebumps. Just like it did in the Fall of 1998. I miss music like this.
Daaang... lucky you. I just found this song a month ago watching the Real World Seattle. 🤣🤣. Been listening to this band since and I dig them more n more. Wish I woulda know about them since back then. Cheers 😎🤘🤘
Same here...
After all these years, this might still be my favorite song ever. 💚
22 years old back in 1997, Great times great music if I could only go back for one hour
Agreed 😊
I was 18..if you can figure out a way let me know. I would love to go back too.
I don't comment on here much....I do listen to a lot of music though. I have listened to these guys for forever. Love this song, STILL
20 years later, still one of my absolutely favorite songs of the 90's. timeless
20 years dam didn't realise it was that long ago I'm getting old lol feels like only yesterday I was listening to this in my room
Still one of my all time favourites!
hugely underrated band. song should have more views.
+TheDealMaster, it's stories like yours that make youtube worth all the crap. Sounds like a great night!
Sounds like you saw them on their last tour as this incarnation of the band. Paul had fallen off the stage at a gig and got all busted up
Paul is the nicest person.
I guess coming from the Eastbay in San Francisco Ça isn't as good as coming across the pond from England. Who knows.
Oh yes, I saw him after he broke his leg, he was on stage with a cast on.
One of the best songs of 1997!!!
At this point in 1997, we had about 4 years before it all started to go downhill. Those of us who became adults in the 90's were truly blessed.
shit. this songs as good as it was 20 years ago. i haven't heard it for years
Nice to hear this song again. I grew up on this. Its a shame they dont have these kind of bands anymore.
They?
this song is timeless and despite lack of a major label or radio play they are STILL making amazing music. all of their albums are brilliant and their brand new album "A New World" is the best surprise of the year. sooooo good
When I was young and love and the world were new
I remember being a teenager blasting this on my CD Walkman fantasizing about having a desperate love story like this. sigh. memories.
golden moments :'(
absolutely - hope your fantasy came true
Oh god me too!
Same here
My story now
God, 90's music videos were so amazing.
This song makes me cry every.single.time. I love it, but it stirs up such memories of heartbreak and "what-ifs".
If anyone is interested, Paul Durham is the force behind Black Lab and has released a HOST of music since these days. A fallout with the record label led to them not recording again for years, but he's done songs for 'The Shield,' 'House,' and a number of movies, too. Check them out!
This video describes regret in a broken relationship perfectly!!!
This song might just be perfect, so much raw emotion. I find this song haunting, it stirs up so many memories.
This is one of the best albums EVER RECORDED, of ANY genre. EVER. Front to back, it's utterly mesmerizing.
this song is so perfect it makes me want to cry.
One of the most underrated bands ever
Such an underrated band!
This as to be one of the most underrated songs ever...
I was 18 when I saw black lab at the crowbar in state college pa. 22 years ago. I got the chance to stand in a long line and meet them. I asked the singer what they did to make it, he said “we wrote good songs, NEXT!” As he motioned to the next person in line. Good times. Lol
Great song from a great band. 😎
I wish more people listen to Black Lab... awesome band.
Wow I was 19 when this came out. I played this CD with my headphones on and walked all over New York City being young and care free.....Great memories, Great song!!!!
I first heard this song in 1998 and I still love it.
About 10 years ago my black lab pup got stolen. This is for you, Shadow. I will always love you to moon and beyond
This video doesn't even come close to doing this beautiful song justice. Love the tragedy, sadness and romance in both the lyric, melody and production...

Still an all-time fav.
Timeless song, very underrated band and album
This whole album was so unbelievably formative for teenage me growing up in a Southwest wasteland where I thought I’d never be understood.
Memories of the 90s. WDRE 103.9 in Philly.
It's amazing how quickly a song can take you back. I remember listening to this song in the car off a cd my first love had made for me, tears pouring down my face because we had just broken up. Man, I can feel it like it was yesterday.

My god this Song is a Masterpiece
This song is amazing. Amazing.
Love this whole album. Can't believe these guys weren't huge. I remember laying in bed naked with a girl I loved in high school just staring at her with her eyes closed when I first heard this on the radio.
Love that the song flips the script with loud verses and a quiet chorus.
Bought this album new in 1997-1998. Loved this song, and still do!
This was my introduction to Black Lab and Paul's amazing voice. This song reminds me of sneaking out of my house and smoking Honey Bee cigarettes. Carefree teenage stuff :)
Same for me, minus the cigs.
My intro was Wash it Away another Black lab gem then I heard Time ago much later
They sure don't make songs like this anymore. Nostalgic.
Best album of that year to me. The parts of the video that always get me inside is one: When he stops playing and looks into the crowd, seeing nothing but her everywhere. It's sad how few views this video has.
It took me 24 yrs to find this song. Never knew who sang it or what it was called. FINALLY!!
Just amazing in every way!
Just turned on 90’s4Eva on Tv. Omg, The words just flowed out like I never forget them. I haven’t heard this song in 20yrs. #Timeless #WhenMusicHadFeeling
Agreed. I have cherished Your Body Above Me for many years. Great album.
Saw them live in San Antonio over 12 years ago, think it was new year's, enjoyed it enough to buy their cd
This had to be the most underrated band in the 90s
I just heard this at a PC Richard's speaker model and was taken back to my teenage years! I love this song oh so much ... love you guys! We had good times didn't we ♥
lost my girlfriend, moved to another state, and remember listening to this song for hours. A great song that never got the credit and also a great album. Thanks for the memories.
Underrated but one of the best , so nostalgic remembering my college life listening to NU 107 fm , missing those times and one of the best moments and highlights of my life , 90s rock are the best . . Im sad im so old
This was the first band that I ever saw live in a small venue. Such good times.
This guy sounds almost like Bono. Awesome, beautiful voice!
this song has always been so real for me. must have been some powerful memories there.. or, just really good writing. x)
Remember seeing them with Our Lady Peace and being completely fascinated by both bands. This beautiful song popped in my head for some reason and I am so happy to hear it again. It's a jewel of nostalgia.
That had to be an awesome concert and experience. I unfortunately didn't get a chance to see either but I do remember Love
haunting guitar, strong voice... still a great song.
J'ai découvert ce groupe par hasard en écoutant "This Night", utilisée pour une autre vidéo, et j'ai adoré cette chanson !! Elle est obsédante...Ce groupe mérite d'être encore plus connu, et a besoin de plus de fans !!! Good good music !!!
Holy crap, the nostalgia is through the roof! I’ve been been looking for this song and finally found it! This song is SO DAMN GOOD !
I feel you
Wilhem Dafoe on vocals. The best!

Paul Durham. One of the nicest guys you could ever hope to meet and endlessly talented.
90s. Such an amazing decade. #90sKid
It's very subtle - I like how it doesn't happen the first time through, then is very quiet the 2nd time and louder the 3rd. People knew how to put cool stuff like that in songs back then! Great song! I preferred this one to "Wash it Away."
Damn good song. This many years later, very timeless sound.
Love this song. Wish they still make music like this now. I miss this band!
Black Lab has more recent albums too - take a look at their Wikipedia page for more info.
Paul put out a song called Changes as Black Lab
worth a listen
I am a total back lab fan take me back to my high school years. I love this band
Thanks "JRC" for the black lab title tracks, totally true, their music is pure!
It’s 2021 - how come I’m just now hearing this amazing band - are they still together-
this song lends itself to making one remember heartache.. the slightly distorted instuments.. the soulful singing.. the yearning lyrics..
Luckily there is beauty in that kind of pain
Man i grew up listening to this AMAZING song💯🙏
This is high-school nostalgia for me
I remember crying myself to sleep to this song. Bittersweet memories, but memories I long to have back.
His voice gives me chills....
Goddamn. They are so friggin' underrated!! Easily one of my favorite acts from the nineties...
This song was amazing! "Bring back music like this!!!"
This is one of my favorite songs. I wish time stood still here
I saw them in Reno on a small club with Pete yorn. Such a great show, they sound this good live. The ebow work is amazing...
I have talked to maybe 2 people who have heard of these guys here in my area, its so odd.. They freakin rock!
This song is one of my favorite songs ever made, I listen to all genre's old and new, but this song just resonates somewhere deep within. I think it would probably do that to anyone that has any idea what Love is, also being a teen in the 90's probably helps. All I can say is they're awesome
Amazing song. Used to listen to this loads when I was 14/15 back in 2002/3
This was the song that was playing on my radio cassette when a police reported to us that my father was shot dead. I was on my bed listening to this looking at the window as my mother talked to the police.
I'm very sorry.
Wow sorry to hear that. What a bad memory.
I guess ten people don't remember love?
So happy I came across this song again! Absolutely one of my favorite songs from a time I truly miss. This song is so dam awesome.
That whole album was amazing. His voice is so distinctive, i went years without hearing it, one song triggered it and now i am revisiting each song.
In case you were wondering, i had it on cassette tape and made mom a fan too as i played it every chance i got!
if you haven't heard it, I strongly recommend listening to the songs on A Raven Has My Heart by Black Lab
💙💙💙 23 years later and I still love this song a lot 💙💙💙💙
listen again, at least 5 or 6 songs worth listening to
Ahhhh, one of my ALL TIME favorite songs. Such longing, such raw emotion, my chest tightens and my heartbeat quickens each time I hear it. Beautiful!
Ah those times bring tears to my eyes
RIP Michael Belfer 😔🎸
One of my favorite CDs in my collection..great album from a very under recognized band...this is a music style that U2 was supposed to evolve into but they missed the bus.
