To be honest the whole "yamcha cheating on bulma" feels very contrive since if you read/watch og dragonball bulma was very flirtatious around many males (even when she was dating yamcha) and he had a hard time dealing with girls (wanted to wish that away at first). Not to mention the og japanese voice actors for both characters did not like the idea of yamcha cheating on bulma when they first heard the news and they felt like it was very out of character for yamcha to do it. It honeslty felt like Toriyama did this just so trunks can be a thing.
