I would definitely watch a Professor Dungeonmaster/Esper the Bard live play!
@@GlenFinney me too
He seems, the Professor, seems pretty down to earth and approachable. His most recent video talks about a TH-cam business seminar at a convention.
@ met him at Pax Unplugged in 2023 and he was all that!
Sorry it took so long. Currently fighting a lung infection. Emailing you shortly. But I want to thank you publicly for your outstanding contributions to this hobby. I especially admire your long-form content. And I would love to play with you. Talk to you soon.
Get well Prof, infections suck
Prof DM thanks for introducing me to this channel! I am now a subscriber! Oh And get better lung infections are hard especially after cancer recovery. Don’t delay getting care
Get well soon Professor. Any collaboration between you and Esper will be appreciated by both of your subscriber bases. Esper is second to none. More than worthy of your time Professor.
Take care
Good to see ya! Next step is to get Lindybeige on board.
Esper joining forces with Professor DM is the collab we all need right now
Yes!!
100%
Let the legends unite
@@gojirajenkins8528 - Are there tables out there that still use the d30? 😕
💯
I would 1000% watch an Esper/Professor collab
1001%
And my axe.
I will definitely watch it!
Respekt to you, Esper, for keeping going. I remember finding your channel many years ago. It instantly connected to me.
@@doomhippie6673 Many thanks! I hope to keep going for a long, long time.
Likewise, I stopped gaming for a couple years and Esper videos reignited my creativity and desire for story crafting.
Me too. This channel brought me back.
My first Esper video was early Esper. I think he was exploring a culvert and talking about exploring dungeons. It was epic.
Fascinating that I watched a dozen or more D&D TH-cam channels for many years and this is the first time I saw your channel recommended to me.
Just found you through this video. I subscribed off this alone. The Professor is a cool guy that I enjoy watching & seeing you do this video reaching out to him, I look forward to seeing what you 2 hopefully collaborate on in the future. I will also be checking out your videos. Stay warm!
Thank you and welcome!
Same here !!
Ditto. Heard your name for a while. Finally decided to subscribe. Sorry took so long.
Keep up the excellent work. Your channel pop-up at me one month ago. I said "just another GM" but I was blown away with the quality, your kind tone, your human presence and quality, not talking about the excellence of your content.
Thank you! ❤
Thank you Esper, your community appreciates you and want to see you/help you succeed!
Much love
You and Professor DM are how I got back into D&D after a long, long break. Thanks!!!
I love your videos Esper. I just found you a couple days ago and I watch every night now. I appreciate the quality. Thank you very much. (Although I will say you going over monsters is my favorite type)
Thank you and welcome! I'll probably try a monster ranking derived from the new Monster Manual.
Change = Life... Stagnation = Death... Keep moving forward and keep the faith. Game on!
Esper actually is a real life bard, people. Seriously.
@@THELUBINTHEMORNING - I agree. 🤣🤣🤣 He can really work the crowd.
You and the Professor are the 2 dungeon-tubers I started watching when I first got into TTRPGs that have maintained my subscription.
@esperthebard I have you to thank for getting me into the rpg world. Your 4th edition narrated combat where you solo played two characters going into a keep with zombies is one of the main reasons I got into the hobby! Thanks!
Wow. This was heartfelt and insightful. I came across your channel when Professor DM recommended it. I just subscribed and will go back and watch your back catalogue of content, and if it’s for me I’ll watch all that I can. Good luck God speed.
This is actually the first time I've watched one of your videos. Now I am looking through your past videos. Thanks for being genuine, creative, and honest.
good to se the people helping each other. I will love to see thath crossover video!
Thank you, Esper, from of your fans and purchaser of all of your products, for doing this video. Thank you for all you do for our hobby and community. ❤
Many thanks to you, O most agile of monks!
@@esperthebard of course my friend.
Thank you Esper for all you put out there for us. Congrats on 15 years! I first found your channel through the insightful and well crafted Tier ranking musings on everything from worst D&D monsters to ranking the Oozes or my favorite the mimics. I love that you included all editions from D&D’s past in those rankings reminding us of the many gems that never made it through to 5e. Here’s to you 4e’s Wandering Tower.
I hope you get a chance to DM for Professor DM
You go Esper! Been watching for a while now, and I find you're the most down to earth and genuine people on this strange jungle that is youtube. Keep up the good work!
This was spot on accurate and well done. you got me to subscribe. I watch everything Professor Dungeon Master does as I find his content some of the best. I had never seen your channel previously, but now am a follower.
Subscribed - I appreciate your video, I have seen your videos pop up from time to time, but don't think I have ever clicked one until now. I am looking forward to seeing your content in the future.
I am happy that you're reaching out to PDM.
good luck and happy gaming!
I have been watching D&D youtube channels for over 15 years and I have literally never seen this channel, until you mention one of my favorites Professor DM. It just goes to show what a depth of great stuff there is out there that you may never even see. Subscribed.
This is the first time I'm seeing your channel, but I'm glad I finally find it. As a newer TH-camr, I totally feel your pain as well.
Would love to play anytime as well, hehe!
Great video!
I totally respect your decisions Esper! You gotta do what you gotta do to keep your channel afloat.
Also, any collaboration between you and professor DM in the future would be great to see!
It's all about what pops in my notifications and recommendations. Even though I was subscribed, I didn't have the notification turned on. It's checked now. Hopefully I will see more of your videos now.
this does provide some nice insight into the realities of creation, and the fact that people do eventually have to find a balance between keeping up with the passion projects that started the channel versus putting things out that are good for the bank account so you can keep going. I am very appreciative of your work, the ideas you bring to the table, the advice you have to share, and your presentation (seriously your voice is amazingly perfect for all of the narration you do). Very happy to have subscribed years ago.
RIBBIT, Esper the Bard! I have NEVER seen a video like this in all of my 62+ years of life on this beautiful planet of ours. You just earned a subscriber today due to your integrity and GRIT! I'll be checking out both you AND Professor DM (Dungeoncraft). RIBBIT, BABY!!!
I am a Dungeoncraft subscriber this is my first time seeing your channel,. Subscribed.
Man, I feel for you, being honest and vulnerable about your loved hobby, speaking out and asking for help just like that. You're a role model, thank you for being out there
Much respect for what you're doing here. I hadn't stumbled across your channel until this video, but I'll be following along. Best of luck with the new style of content you're working on. Evolving is tough!
I commend your willingness to do what you must to serve your goals :) they are worth it, keep up the great work!
Keep this channel alive! Just discovered it and your content is awesome! 🎉
I hope we get some kind of collaboration out of this. You, Professor DM and Daddy Rolled a 1 are my favorite RPG channels.
Daddy Rolled a 1 is an awesome channel (no I'm not him, in case you were wondering). I'm old enough to have had a similar RPG experience as him, but his parents were WAY richer than my parents because he has stuff that I always wanted but could never afford, so it's cool to see him show the insides of those old books.
I've always liked your channel and the live streamed games because of the sincerity you bring to it. It is wild how the algorithm chooses which of the sea of channels to promote or demote. All the best to you.
Hi! here's a free census with a sample size of one: I love watching D&D advice, lore, war-stories, reviews. Not only D&D. I also love Call of Cthulhu and Harnmaster (nobody ever talks about Harn 🤥) So any D&D alternatives suit me just fine. Love hearing about the new mechanics and lore. Excited to see you branch out and try new things!
Love what you're doing - keep it up! Also, comment for the algorithm, because we need more people to see this!
I’m rooting for both of you! Been subscribed to both of you since you guys started and I always enjoy your content. I think it’s a shame that the algorithm only pushes clickbait and drama. I always see comments on videos complaining about those types of videos but the facts are the facts, the numbers show that’s what people watch. Just goes to show you that Google (and every other platform and company) pushes the negative stuff onto people because negativity is profitable for them. I hope you guys connect and game together. Take care.
I just watched all those videos yesterday and was looking forward to what you might have to say, so timely! You show Strength in Humility and I would love to see a campaign of DnDTubeTitans 😂
"May your adventures be many!"
"May all your rolls be 20!"
happy to hear from another creator. i had not been to your channel before , i am excited to add it to my list (and comment )
I loved watching you play solo with story and dice rolling. Was hoping there were more. Good inspiration
Hell yeah Esper. Here for you, no matter what you do with the channel. Love your Emporium Book, use it all the time. Real life bard y'all
I always appreciate seeing your videos cross my feed.
I cannot really understand all these people that are grumpy and judgemental about creators doing what is necessary for them to keep their channels alive. Ofc I'm not happy that it has to come to this, but if it means creators that I value get the "traffic" they deserve, I am more than happy, especially when they keep making quality content among the "clickbaits".
Esper you were the first DND channel I followed all those years back and I implore you to continue your work in whatever way you see fit, because I truly believe you offer a lot to the ttrpg community!
@@Superhero21ful That means a lot to me. Thanks for watching all these years! I'll do my best to keep the true flame burning.
It's so typical though, people blaming the little guys while not pointing to the real problem. This is an algorithm issue, a TH-cam issue. TH-cam has forced creators into this Faustian bargain of making themselves more and more clickbaity, not just to grow but to merely survive on the platform. And because there's nowhere else to go, you either play the game according to YT's rules, or you disappear.
I can shed some light into your confusion. I agree with you, so don't believe I am one of these people, but since you are trying to understand, here is my 2 cents worth. People like consistency. As we watch a TH-camr (in real life too), we can connect with the information or personality they exhibit. Our brains process this information as 'this person is this way'. Anything that does not fit within these parameters, causes us to pause and re-think. Maybe we were wrong in our assessment? Were they just attempting to fool us? This brings distrust into our assessment - so some people lash out. "I trusted you and you've betrayed me! You're not what I thought you were!" Many actors have fallen prey to this type of thinking, as people think they 'know' them because they've seen them on movies or tv. Secondly, some people just want what they want, and don't try anything different, because then you are a 'sellout'. Did not mean to get long winded. lol
@@scottlegros2616 not long winded and I think it's very valid. We're unfortunately so used to content creators turning out to be liars and scammers that many of us are on a hair trigger or hyper-vigilant of any perceived inauthenticity.
That's why I'm so grateful for the good professor shedding some light on what is going on behind the scenes so we can better understand why our favorite creators make some of the decisions they do.
No one is owed success as an entertainer or producer. "Doing what you have to" should mean producing desired product. If people are dropping someone's channel because too much clickbait, are those temporary additional clicks from the clickbait really saving them?
Hello Esper the Bard, from the land of Professor Dungeon Master! He has recommended your channel, and because I put a high value on his content, I am here to learn more! I'm so surprised at how many years you've been doing this and I haven't ever encountered this channel. Perhaps, could you recommend ONE other channel that YOU value, that might need a boost?
Interesting, I just watched the Professor DM video and then this video popped up as a recommendation. Funny how things work out like that. I'm going to have to explore this channel.
Having subscribed from the Professors' recommendation on Facebook, I have learned a new term today...Doom Crab!
👍👍👍👍😎😎😎😎
If a channel is disingenuous, and I feel that they're trying to dupe me into watching their videos, I'll stop watching them. For me, this has happened with Professor DM's videos. The opposite of this is honesty. If a channel asks honest questions, and attempts to honestly answer them. If I get the feeling that the creator is a person who is interested in a subject and makes videos about it, then I'll follow along, even if I'm not as interested in the subject as they are. Bob World Builder is a good example of this. Early on, he tried to be really excited about what he was doing, and it wasn't genuine. Later on, he started making videos of him just being himself, and I love that. It saved his channel.
Bottom line - be honest and genuine about what you're sharing.
Appreciate the feedback and constructive criticism. I will do my utmost to stay true to myself and my viewers, even if I get into videos that are more "hot topics" or "algorithm fuel".
Esper + Professor DM = Yes, please
Good coverage Esper, hope many successful games are in your future.
One suggestion from my side: don't wait until 6:40 to get to the point of the video
I would love to watch gameplay of Esper the Bard. Much to learn from observing that.
All the best Esper.
Thanks mate!
I was literally thinking of sending you a link from Professor DM.
Speaking of clickbait, props on the “struck a chord with me” in the pinned chat, but “resonated with me” in the video. 🙂↕️
Never seen your channel before. I will check out some more of your videos. Cheers!
I have been watching Prof. DM for years but I have never heard of Esper before. I will check out your other stuff.
Welcome!
Hey Esper! Love the video. For a sample size of "1" (me) your thumbnail had a 100% click-through rate. Whoo hoo! I'll keep watching.
Clicked on this as an avid Professor viewer. I look forward to digging into your videos!
Professor DM is THE MAN
The Dungeon Master of Clickbait.
I've never seen Esper the Bard before. Great video! New subscriber!
Don't ask, just do. Watchers will just do what they do. Finding your niche is a right to all Influencers.
Totally get it. Small channel, and some views we get lots of views, not a lot of comments, and slow subscriber rate. We try to avoid the "Click Bait" and just talk RPG's. But do what you need to do to stay alive
A DM from you would be EPIC!
Dan is a fantastic player as well as a DM/GM.
Would love to see you are the professor play together
Tough situation
I saw his video yesterday and yours now.
Click baiting is unfortunately part of the TH-cam game. The most effective way to do TH-cam nowadays is to put huge reaction faces, questions, and wild scenarios in the title. Such as one of your videos Esper talking about the Balhannoth as “The scariest monster I ran against my players” which was an absolutely great video.
Keep doing what you’re doing man. I know this type of career is hard.
(As an aside, I’m very excited for you to review the new 2024 Monster Manual when it is fully released).
Great video. Thank you, Esper.
I just found your channel and look forward to watching more of your videos
Good luck! Appreciate what you do for our gaming community!
ESPer should reach out to Guy (how to be a great GM) and ask about his thought process in creating the other TH-cam channels that he’s going to be focusing on for his other passions that don’t involve GMing
Have a like and subscription from a Dungeoncraft fan. Here for the both the collab and thoughtful discourse.
We all need to band together. Esper is exponentially sincere. This is a great way for all creators to build communities! Dungeoncraft provides some of the most insightful points of view on our ttrpg world that I love listening to. We all have to grow and learn from all experiences and maybe having changes in our gaming worlds will benefit from these changes. To all ttrpg fans, our world's will never die! We only claw and grasp new knowledge to make our own games better(and sometimes unique to make these games.our own). Great video! From a scared player to become a dm.
And upon that day the spark was lit that would bring about the birth of a new legend...BARDBRINGER!
First time I get a recommendation for your channel, I'm assuming that it was because Prof. DM's "Clickbait" video but I'm glad that YT recommended it, you have a new subscriber
Hey! Seeing you running one of your adventures or playing one of your awesome maps would be super awesome!!! I´d love to see that!!! I hope Professor replies!!!
Stoked to see what comes of this!
Dude I think this is the first time I have seen or heard one of your missives. You are a consummate professional, as is @Dungeoncraft1, and I absolutely value and agree with all that you've said here! I'll take the occasional clickbait if it helps the channel. Instant-subscriber!
Outstanding, Esper! "I have revived my channel from the dead before" Esper the Necromancer? You see kids, this is what TH-cam needs in this space-people just being real with you. Authentic people who love the game and just keep carrying on. You are for sure one of the OGs and inspired us to start a channel five years ago. We love your content and look forward to a DungeonCraft/Esper joint venture.
I would definitely watch that collaboration.
I absolutely would love to watch a video of Prof DM playing in ANYTHING.
I also forward the motion to invite Trevor Devalle from Me, Myself, and Die!!!
I have no idea how the yt algorithm works, i lived under the impression that if i subscribed a channel, the new videos would end up in my feed. And they usually do, like prof dm’s - and because of that, you turned up now as well. Never heard from your channel in 15 years, so how did that video turn up suddenly?
Fans of the hobby will always watch that content, maybe not on first sight, but eventually.
What you describe is more a battle against a diminished attention span of the watchers, needing drama and short videos (am i wrong here?).
Full disclosure, if i see an in debt analysis of a pen and paper system, that takes 3 hours, i will most likely not even start it (chores, work, family). But anyway, you got a new subscriber! 😊
these people are complaining about stuff we dont control. Like Pro DM says if we dont watch his newly dropped video in 24hrs then youtube pushes his channel down. thats NOT THE VIEWERS fault !!! thats a TH-cam PROBLEM.
I'd say. Keep doing what you love. Don't worry about your channels. We will find you. 👍
Something of a fun and hopefully quick episode idea I think might be interesting is if you talk about some of thr monsters or classes you've created either in monster hero's, esbers estasuca and from your paytrone. It also might interest people into getting those books are supporting you on paytrone. What a creature or class dose and your recommendations for such
You should also talk to Guy from How to be a Great GM. He spoke with TH-cam employees in person and they more or less told him point blank that they weren't going to promote his "how to GM" videos anymore. Fortunately they didn't just drop him entirely. Instead they asked what his _next_ channel was going to be about.
Professor DM sent me. We're gonna binge some vids.
I can confirm, your channel recently dropped right off my feed.
D&D TH-cam has become more about D&D TH-cam than D&D lately. Not a criticism, just an observation. I like your point about how we let the algorithm dictate what we watch, rather than actively searching through playlists ourselves. Good stuff, man.
I would love join and be a contributing DM. But I hope to take your offer on the mythic tradition in 7 years-because I will retire then.
Stay strong 💪-you are the strongest bard I have known, thus far.
I forwarded him this vid, hopefully he sees it.
Think that would be pretty fun, really looking forward to seeing an Ichoras setting book.
Yeah, this comment is pretty much just for engagement.
Thanks for sharing your experience with this.
Hand me the RPG Channel Defibrillator, STAT! ....CLEAR! Stay with us Esper!
Great video. Thanks for making it. I would have never found you otherwise.
Keep up the good work. I hope Professor DM reaches out. I’d love to see a collaboration project.
Looking forward to your collaboration!
Love your content thank you for all you do Sir
