I have a pair of blazers from 1980, with the suede toecap. The materials are vastly different, suede doesn't become hard or scratchy like that. The OG nat grey swoosh is for sure a synthetic material, where as suede is fibrous and "hairy" feeling.
it's probably so bright because they're brand new as opposed to the 36 year old leather on the 85 pair. i think they probably looked almost identical to this retro when they first came out
The tongue has a blue tint to it because of the colour of the foam they used for the tongue. The nylon tongue material is actually a true white it's just thin and the color of the foam comes through.
85s had a vinyl like material used for the swooshes. The crack over time and turn into that rough texture. It’s good Jordan brand didn’t go with that material one these, as it just doesn’t hold up over time
Nice job Tye! The wings logo is also embossed vs printed. But yes no sandpaper swoosh is a disappointment. But the blue tongue will yellow over time I agree
When do you think they’ll re retro the Chicago’s? And will the next retro of them be an 85’ version like these neutral greys? Also how much you think the Chicago’s would be going for resell after release? These greys were 550-700 cad. Nice video !
Like many many people I took a L on these so hopefully the resale price will drop down to realistic levels and I will get them to add to my 85 varsity red ones. Dope shoes and review. 😁👍

I think the 85s feel like sandpaper because the suede just dried out and ands not soft like new suede

Yeah! I wish they would’ve used the regular foam. Not the blue tint, the typical yellow foam would’ve looked better in my opinion

Hard to say with the quality, I have more faith in the Neutral Grey Lows that retroed.
