Those early 2000's large technic sets are so awesome. The Silver Champion, the Ferrari and the Willams all ooze nostalgia to me.
Unfortunately they ooze "what's happening with Lego Technic?" for me. It took me a looooong time to accept the transition from bricks and plates to beams and panels.
All old lego sets looks like this fake ones from nowadays.

I like how the design follows the shape of the cars of their time... It might seems basic logic, but it is interesting that it is not just an improvment of the same set like many sets today

The mercedeses are probably that green because that was the nearest colour to what merc has on the cars

The black and yellow Lego F1 cars are basically John Player Special Lotuses.

Mustve been around 20 cars by the end. Used to "build tracks" and drive full seasons keeping track of all the race results and championship points and so on. Good old days :D

That sounds so great, and I have slightly similar memories; when I was small, I had like 20 toy cars (like Hot wheels) and I used to drive races and seasons. Later my dad bought Lego Racers Ferrari truck and Fuel stop. I used to spend quite some time driving those around, swapping tires and doing practice sessions. After that, I have only bought Speed champions Ferrari SF-16, but I dream of having grid of Lego F1 cars.

woah that 6539! almost forgot i had it, it was so cool and playable, i had quite a lot of fun with it together with a hot rod garage and a big pier with container ship and crane! its truck reminded me the so dreamed model team one with helicopter, and now i remember where that forklift piece come from 😂 thank you!

Oh wow, the memories! I had quite a few of those 1980's ones. In particular I remember model 6604 (0:14). I was 6 years old, and having spent about three weeks' pocket money to get it, was so upset by the awkward stance of it that I cried my eyes out and wouldn't come out from behind the sofa for about two hours.

I still got the 8157 on display, had to replace all stickers with aftermarket ones though because they started to crumble.
Yes, it is a known problem of that period... i have also several sets in my collection with that problem. The 8157 is cool!

I had that first kit, the blue car at the beginning (kit #392) when I was a kid. And I was very proud of it.

Have you heard of inflation? That does change quite a bit. What cost 20 USD back in the day can cost even 40 in today's money.
@@davidvraj8172 Inflation is part of it, but another part of it is Lego sets becoming far too detailed for the own good and using an excessive amount of pieces.

Nice video... though I am pretty sure you've missed a Technic one that I had as a kid in the early 90's. I am gonna go get the photo album out see if there's a picture and then I'll hit up google and post my findings regardless...
So no photo in the old album, but a few mins on google and I've found the below. It was basically the alternate build to a 6 wheel rally set. The link shows both sets of instructions. I guess I never opted for the rally build as I'd totally wiped it from memory :P

I got the 6604 car when I was young at 0:15 seconds shown.

You missed a few which were a Shell/Ferrari promotional item ( each time you tanked at Shell you got a few stickers based on the amount you had, spent and if you had enough stickers you would get such a car).

Many of these aren’t f1 cars but instead formula E (the last one) or random single seaters
agreed, but some of them are definitely era inspired f1 cars whith their design
There are a couple indycars in there too
there really arent many formula E. I think just last one. Most other single seaters are indycars and some lower class Formula cars too
