Thanks for taking care of the poor struggling bee at 3:52 😉. Neat way of managing cross-combing including the strategy of keeping the box on while you cut allows somewhere for the nectar/honey to go. Maybe the beekeeper can have shots for each busted rubber band 13:17, haha 😄.
Thank you! Thankfully, it was a good batch of bands this time. Not too many busted. Sometimes it’s a real buzzkill trying to get them on without snapping.Maybe drinks afterwards. 😁 Probably some mead over shots though.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting this video. I watched it the other day. Today I had a situation when comb just fell off the frame. I knew exactly what to do thanks to you. I just got bees on June 4th.
I have made mistakes with a cutout that resulted in wonky comb. I had to fix the comb and what made it hard was that it had brood, lots of brood and honey. It was messy. Many lessons learned. Thank you for sharing.
Hey, no comb guides? I would have flipped that box over and bumped all the frames out. One cut with a long knife across the top and bottom and boom, easy banding from there. Just a suggestion. Try it next time. How'd the tree bees turn out?
No. We’ve used guides before and it didn’t make much difference honestly. Flipping it over is a good idea. We’ll have to try that next time. The tree bees are doing okay. Settling into their new digs.
We both have fully ventilated equipment since it gets so hot where we are. Mike wears a jacket with fencing veil and wears whatever pants he has on for the day. Lisa wears a full suit with fencing veil. Mike also always wears a ball cap under his veil as he says it helps keep the veil off his face.

It can definitely be tricky and very messy. Happy beekeeping!

You’re quite welcome! Hope it helped!
Is that a magnet in your pocket? mind blown thats such a great idea!
Yes it is! Makes for a dirty pocket, but definitely no lost hive tools. 😃
Awesome
What suits and style of head gear do you prefer please? and safer wise?

I talk about my suit in this video towards the end. th-cam.com/video/BykvzyUUCRM/w-d-xo.html
