Hi! Love these videos!
Our favorite recipe with Quinoa is a Mediterranean type salad....with cucumber, tomatoes, basil garlic, onion, garbanzos, olive oil and lemon juice.
Maybe your family would like that 🙂
ooo that does sound delicious!! I actually have enjoyed a burrito-bowl style dish with quinoa instead of rice. Super good. I have a few recipes doing it with a Mediterranean style I will have to try!
A really good base for salads
Quinoa is my fav summer time salad ingredient - mix with chopped up fresh veggies, olive, and balsamic vinegar - look forward to learning more about it!
YUMM!!
I love quinoa seeds! It's my main ingredient in my seed mix ❤
Being a non meat eater I love that it's a complete protien.
My friend made vegetarian chili with quinoa. It was very good.
Oh cool
I tried a no-bake quinoa "cookie" recipe and my family members that dislike quinoa liked it and didn't know that it was quinoa. 😄
Wow, WIN!
Love learning the history of the grain as well, Thank you.
I love quinoa! My favorite way to use it is to puff it in a pan (like puffed rice) and use it as the base for protein granola bars!
Great idea!
I love quinoa! I prepare it in my Instant Pot; 1 cup quinoa to 1 1/4 cup water or broth. Pressure “one” minute with 10 minute natural release. It comes out perfect every time. I haven’t tried but Chef Brad adds cooked quinoa to his bread dough to up the nutrition. I make extra and freeze in “Souper Cubes” for use at a later time. ❤
Oh cool, thanks for the tip!
Thanks for all the info on quinoa, I just ordered some tri-color from Amazon and will have fun experimenting with it. Would you maybe consider doing a video on ways to use sprouted or cooked grains in ways other than breads? I've seen that they can be used in salads and other dishes, but I have no clue how to accomplish these recipes.... especially using sprouted grains. Thanks for all your hard work!
Yes I do plan on doing sprouted grains at some point lol Sourdough is my next big topic to tackle first!
First time I tried quinoa was about 15 years ago. I added it to a vegetable soup, along with barley and brown rice. I've since used it in salads with chickpeas and other veggies and a lemon/garlic vinaigrette. I haven't added it to baked goods yet . . .
Yeah, it's very versatile.
I mill it in the Mockmill. Works fine. Slightly course. I’m not ambitious enough to mill twice or adjust my mil.
I wonder if quinoa could be used to make a pudding like tapioca or rice pudding?? Anyone know a good recipe?
Good presentation. Small fact- Saskatchewan is east of the Rockies, part of the Great Plains. Rockies are in British Columbia and Alberta.
thanks!
Interesting you mention quinoa when I'm about to make some Daah/Dahl/ (Indian-Asian) soup. However, for my Dahl, I use quinoa instead of the usual lentils the recipe calls for and it is delicious.
Quinoa in Dahl? That's awesome! Gotta try that myself sometime.
Can you mill it and add it to homemade sourdough??
I throw into my oatmeal or make a quinoa porridge with blueberries and cinamon. I'm not a fan of it as a rice sub or in salads...
Interesting - in your oatmeal? That's an idea I never thought of before. Pretty good?
We like quinoa.
We just tried it in a summer veggie bowl that was delicious. What do you typically use it in?
@@GrainsandGrit Our favorite is with chicken, artichokes and spinach. Our dog love it too!
I've had quinoa in the past and I hated the texture of it in my mouth. Too mushy and like orbies.
Maybe I'd like it today. Plenty of other foods to try.
Yeah, my kids say it has an odd texture for them, too. I just think it takes some getting used to.
I would just like to say absolutely love your channel. I watch it every day and I do need to join the grains and grit team! So I am ready to buy a grain mill and I was wondering if there is a coupon code that you may have for one thank you so much.
aww thank you! And YES! Right now there are sales going on! Nutrimill has their biggest sale right now and you won't see prices this low until Black Friday. Just go to nutrimill.com/GRAINSANDGRIT and use code "GRAINS20" to save an additional $20 off! :-)
Quinoa just doesn't taste as good as some other grains, although it's quick to cook. It's ok.
I find you either like it or don't ha I like it. My family is ok with it. All depends on how I cook and use it.
@@GrainsandGrit We stir fry it with cabbage and onions, which is pretty good, but it tends to overpower other foods. Recipes on how to fix this would be nice.
Its asparagusy lol
