- This live performance of "Yesterday" is from "Parkinson meets Paul McCartney" broadcast on Friday 3 December 1999.
This is a rare 100% solo performance of the song in full, only accompanied by acoustic guitar.
Enjoy!
I could watch this all day every day. Love this man so much
Thanks for your comment, just had a look at your channel - you're SO talented man, loving your covers and just subscribed :)
@@ClarkKent768 ah thanks so much, that means a lot! I have some Paul and Beatles covers up but I need to do a lot more! Hopefully soon I'll update some of the older ones (I've improved since then) and get some new ones up! I've subbed too as I love your content, I'll never get enough of Paul! ❤️
@@Adam_BarrettI love your channel aswell please do more joy division covers 🙏
‘There’s a shadow hanging over me’ cuts through me every time
Paul and John were heaven sent. Period.x
❤ i love paul,we have on the same day our birthday❤
And to think this song came up to him in a dream, woke up the next morning and try to find the chords after he found out that nobody owns this song😍 one of the best songs ever.
That's still crazy to me, I can't imagine how someone even _dreams_ of a song, especially one like Yesterday
He remembered it from the besame mucho melody
I love yesterday I never get tired of hearing it
So soon after Linda passed too. Very heartfelt.
Linda already passed at that point
@@KilianMcCartney that's what they said
He feels lije cryibg here so emotional wirh his yesterday song
Paul is simply the instrument of Music.
I love the way he goes to put down the guitar,,,
Both Paul George and John and Ringo
Have a golden voices
This is around the time(within a few years) of Linda’s passing. Makes it feel more impactful.
you know when an artist plays from the soul and this was one of the times he did.
I fully realize he is human. But , how can a human write and sing so many fabulous songs in one lifetime? Baffling
This tune is NOT original. Nicked from an old obscure Italian Neapolitan number.
@@maratonlegendelenemirei3352 And what song might that be?
@@maratonlegendelenemirei3352Nope. An extra terrestrial being visited him and taught him this song.
@@maratonlegendelenemirei3352The singer in the video is not the original either. The original James Paul McCartney (1942-1966, died in 1966 and was replaced with Billy Campbell.
@@maratonlegendelenemirei3352 cover by claudio villa 1969 1970, but paul mccartney is the original composer of this song.
look at him, you can see the sadness honestly he's probably thinking about Linda who I think passed away by then.
it feels like it
And John and his father and Brian :(
@@Zemlya99 and his mother
@alanvaytsman his mother died when he was very young. 14-15
It was written about Jane Asher
Beautiful song. Thank you Paul for giving us this musical jewel that will surely remain throughout the ages.
Yesterday is here to stay.......for tomorrow......and forever.......Loved it.....Thank you Sir Paul McCartney....... The Legend!
I was born in August, 1999 right before this performance. What I find incredible is he was back performing just a little over a year and a half after Linda died. I know that took a massive toll on him into 1999 and 2000. But he fought through his pain and performed this beautiful song *LIVE!* And he was _phenomenal._ 👊🏻
Wow, bless your heart! I agree w/you how amazing it was that he could bounce back like that as soon as he did. But you see, Paul has always lived to perform. It was and is like therapy for him . It's in his DNA, really. Cheers!
I was 13 or 14 when this performance happened
This is NOT the real Paul. We've all been played.
@@maratonlegendelenemirei3352Well, here we go again. SMH!
@Frenchie260 For a musician, music is the relief, therapy, emotional release in times of need. For myself, I can work through burnout from work with music, anger with metal, depression with songs like yesterday, etc.
Truly a gift from God, this man!
A master at work. Beautiful.
Belle chanson et des belles paroles. J'adore Paul mccartney!!!!
The Best Singer, I love this music!!!

This song is a reminder of good memories in the past that can possibly happen again for the good times.

The GOAT
Paul McCartney Wonderful ex Beatle Forever Great Artist of Liverpool England 🇬🇧😊🧡🙏🏼
Paul the King
Enjoy him while he's here. At 82 he won't live forever. None of us will. He has made a lot of money but given so much of his time and life to us. It must be weird Googling yourself and reading your life story, perhaps stuff you didn't know even about yourself
Great
The First SONG - that I ever tried singing- (1965)
O Pelé da música grande Paul McCartney
Paul always play it in G, instead of F, incredible
The guitar is tuned down a whole step so that makes it in the key of F major not G .
@@thebeamerdreamerYes. That makes it easier to play the song. One can always use standard tuning and play in the key of F but the fingerings are a bit more difficult. Anybody who plays guitar understands this.
@@ruelitocayamanda8162 after playing both the versions in standard as well as the D standard tuning I can easily say that the downtuned version is much easier than playing it in standard.
Actually, if you play it in standard tuning in the key of F, you cannot play the whole bass line, as when you need to go to the low D at the "I believe" part you run out of stings. That, or you need to play a higher D that doesn't sound right. In D tuning, you can play the open D (E string) and it sounds great... and much easier to play. Although it is a terrible key for my singing voice. 😢😅
Any guitar geeks out there like me notice some different chords and voicings than earlier versions?
❤
"Yesterday"
Yesterday all my troubles seemed so far away.
Now it looks as though they're here to stay.
Oh, I believe in yesterday.
Suddenly, I'm not half the man I used to be.
There's a shadow hanging over me.
Oh, yesterday came suddenly.
Why she had to go?
I don't know, she wouldn't say.
I said something wrong.
Now I long for yesterday.
Yesterday love was such an easy game to play.
Now I need a place to hide away.
Oh, I believe in yesterday.
Why she had to go?
I don't know, she wouldn't say.
I said something wrong.
Now I long for yesterday.
Yesterday love was such an easy game to play.
Now I need a place to hide away.
Oh, I believe in yesterday.
Mm mm mm mm mm mm mm.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🆒
❤❤❤
He did well in despite of one string out of tune.
Sin considerar todas las magníficas canciones q escribió después de 1966: Penny Lane, Hey Jude, Blackbird, Let it Be, Live and let live...
Sir Paul plays this song very differently the way James Paul Mc Cartney-1966, Sir Paul always looking at the chords and his strumming stroke diff from JPM,
This man is James Paul McCartney, same guy as in 66. th-cam.com/video/A6wZKfWbcCA/w-d-xo.html
My Nunny listen to you!
Actually the original title was Scrambled Eggs.
according to who?
What guitar
Martin
Very different from 1966
yeah hes like 60 here, you will not be the same as when you were 24
Sounds the exact same as 1964
I like this version better than back then 60s because the meaning is sad losing and hoping her to come back. Chord in Chorus begining should be a Bsus4 than F#m7 or F#m as not to repeat same chord again, well just my feel. most song lovers are sensitive ppl even though they don't know guitar musical things but tunes notes are beautifully rolling smoothly !
Are you really telling the guy who wrote the song how to play it 😂
As a guitar player, i always hate the cameraman!!!
Bach Beethoven Brahms & Beatles.
Reminds me of my 4th grade year when The Beatles were our featured composer in music class, when the teacher had previously selected classical ones.

Pineapple on pizza shouldn't happened but it does stop saying he is fake just because of what some people on the internet say.
@@manuelhelguero5127 sir people change it would be different if this was a performance in 1969 but this a full 30 years later. You can't jump as high when you're older maybe when 30 years pass you'll understand how getting old works.

Bob Dylan and Paul McCartney are the best in music (sorry John Lennon).
Pfffft bob Dylan is good butt John is better
@@danniedwards5750 No need to compare, they all are good.
@@halimmoesa3097 I know butt I just love John's personality
John is brighter than Dylan
Uhm..... Do you realize John has wrote the most Beatles songs . And was taken if he didn't he would surpass Paul. Sorry Paul wrote great melody's and was a better musician..but a songwriter sorry John had a way with words it's insane
callate
😉
Yes it is
Took him that long practice an imitation of Paul’s solo performance…
