I'd like to add an extractor fan category. The selectionist. The person who will tell you that they're a massive fan of *blank* and will then explain why almost of *blank* is rubbish except for the small part of it that they claim is the true *blank*. In film series its normally about a third of the films in any given series, for music its "the early albums" and tv series usually "up to season 3"
I remember seeing the music quiz pic some years ago when it was making the rounds! :) I'm rubbish at band names so I probably was one of the people spending only a few mins on it, didn't think I'd ever see it again but this is funny as heck and has brought me closure XD

But there's a strange twist, I discovered that there was a genuine headline from 2005 about the "Sudden death of 'Sunshine Girl' " in the Manchester Evening News, relating to the death a young woman known as the 'Sunshine Girl' who worked as a holiday rep in the Canary Islands. If the headline in the spoof newspaper for the show is purely coincidental, what made somebody invent it and why did they use it? If it does deliberately relate to the real world story, why was it included as an Easter egg? For want of a more appropriate term. I think I've just fallen down a rabbit hole, here.

A lot of superheroes powers and origins are magical in nature or something like that (which would make them fantasy). As such, superheroes tend to fall under the "sci-fi and fantasy" heading.

I love watching Modern Life is Goodish! However, I’m surprised you haven’t drawn attention to train stations that have a very limited service. Some only have one train a week like Denton, Reddish South and Teeside airport to name just three.
In my opinion, Dave Gorman is one of the greatest entertainers with a powerpoint in history. I am gutted this show was cancelled. Could do with it in this modern age of covid and scaremongering.
It wasn't cancelled, Dave - the channel wanted more, though making every episode demands a lot of Dave's time and energy and he wanted a break to do other stuff including live shows and he has a young child. He has explained this. He has also said he may do more at some point and also had the not as good though less time consuming Terms & Conditions on the same Chanel.

As someone who would be considered a geek by most of the metrics Dave described (albeit I don’t particularly wear checked shirts), I enjoy superhero films/comics and have always assumed they were sci-fi, as they generally operate within the realm of and genre tropes of sci-fi. I am now very confused about the offence caused by this statement, given I have certainly made the same mistake before, but wasn’t called up on it
I don't consider them superhoroes sci-fi, because while some do indeed try to have a scientific basis there are many that don't. And the ones that do often don't dwell on it other than justifying a backstory. (As opposed to something like Star Trek which is constantly encountering phenomenon and recalibrating the deflector dish.) What they generally tend toward though is crime-fighting action, so I'd probably classify Batman as an Action story. That puts it in the same category as The Bourne Identity, which seems fair to me. That said, call it whatever you want so long as the people you're talking to understand what you mean.
I'd say superhero stories fit into multiple genres, depending on the character and the writer. Batman is sometimes Action, sometimes Farce, sometimes Mystery, sometimes Horror, sometimes Drama, sometimes Scifi, etc etc. Dr Strange is Fantasy. Squirrel Girl is Action Comedy. The Boys is Satire. Black Widow is Political Thriller. Doom Patrol is straight-up Gold. Etcetera Etcetera Etcetera.

Some random football fan turned in the queue and berated me. She wondered what rock I had been living under that I had never heard "3 Lions" (it was summer 1998). Turns out I did know the song, just that, not being a football follower, I had no idea that "football's coming home" song that was on everywhere was called: "3 Lions" ...

Either way, if it was more fishy, you'd be able to smell it in the hot summer sun.

Not really, Stans are obsessive over their subject no matter how popular it/they get wheras extractor fans revel in that sense of superiority the get over people by knowing more stuff than them on a topic and often abandon things when they become too "mainstream".
