    I've been here almost one year and it is as safe as any city can be. No muggings, strong arm robberies or major crime whatsoever. Thailand (Buddha culture) is completely different from Western disrespect which is the main reason I left the US.

    Yes there is a light life option in Pattaya but there are lots of other things to do too. There is an amazing beach, santuary of truth, buddah statues, golfing, sea doo, boating, there is a 10 km bicycle track that you can rent bicycles, amazing night markets, dance clubs, billiards, beer bars, world class shopping centers, and yes the other thing. But I lived in Pattaya for 4 years teaching English. I love it there and it drives me insane when people think of Pattaya and think of only the obvious thing you mentioned before, I am glad you decided to give it a chance and if you ask anyone living there they could tell you a lot of amazing places.

    I'm a native Thai, now living in Bangkok. I had been in Pattaya for 6 full years, the city is fascinating with mixed cultures and safe that anyone can stay there. Love my time there a lot.

    next month we‘ll be flying there and it’s super special, growing up my family (my parents, my younger brother and me) would go there about every 2-3 years and this time we‘re going with my own little family and parents as well✈️☀️my little girl will be 10 months when we‘re traveling there and it’s also my husbands first time going to thailand🇹🇭we are beyond excited and this video made me even more excited!     You know, the owner of Nong Nooch Tropical Garden had won the garden competition in RHS Chelsea Flower Show for many years. Pattaya is in Chonburi which is the big city. You can have many activities here. Not just only weed, a-g-go, night life, beaches, islands and sea but also temples, national zoo, biking in the nature along the road at Bang Phra Reservoir, etc. So, you have seen many dinosaurs at garden because there are the place for families and kids as well.

    Also worth to visit is Jomtien, village next to Pattaya. We stayed there and found great food markets, nice beach and it is much quieter 👍 And I recommend going to see a really great temple of Big Buddha near the Pattaya sign 👍

    First of all, thank you on behalf of all Thai krub. Anyway don't expect too much from us. We are just a small and humble country. Not a "Big Guys" with lots of power hard or soft in the world. We have -- good and bad things, also good and bad people like every places. Expecting too much might leads to disappointment when things don't turn out as good as we expected although they might be OK in their own way.🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭

      I have lived in several countries and rate Thailand as the best. The scenery, the food and the people is the best. Thai people are friendly, RESPECTFUL, non violent and always helpful. I never want to return to the west with its crazy politics, disrespectful attitude, violence and greed

    I always stay in jomtien. Walking distance from pattaya but much more relaxed.

    So I assumed you were staying at an Airbnb and the owner rented out which normally for long term leases hence property is private for residence only. That's why the security has been asked to check everyone coming in.

      yes i think thats the case. its pretty common to do that in complex condo area where security check whos coming in (they have to write report all the car that coming though the gate as well)

    My husband and I were in Pattaya City a year ago. My son and daughter in law live there. My daughter in law is Thai. We stay in Pattaya City for a week. We felt it was very safe. Yes, they have a lot of bars but we didn’t go in everyone. We are not that type of people. So don’t listen to everybody. Enjoy yourselves.

    You have to try fried durian. Thai people like fried durian. It's taste like potato chip. crispy , a little bit sweet and salty. ทุเรียนทอด (turian todd)

    Normally ,there's the daily Thai Cultural Show at the theatre of Nongnooch Botanicak Garden which the admission ticket for the shows is included in the entrance fee. Touristor shoud't miss it!

    You should stay in the south or north, not Central Pattaya. South - Jomtien Beach, north - Nakluea. Further south, Na Jomtiem is quiet.

    It’s like saying Soho in London represents the whole of London, of course it doesn’t, even most streets in Soho are certainly not seedy. Nothing like it was in the 1970’80’s. This applies to Pattaya as well!

    With durian, you want to try the durian crisps or chips. I promise you they are great. They don't smell at all bad. I personally really dislike all other durian products including freeze dried durian, durian ice-cream, jam etc, don't touch those. The fresh fruit I can eat but am not super fond.

      I thought that initially also. And yes, it still is the seedy capital of Thailand, but having lived on the East Side of Pattay for 6 months, I can say that the seedy stuff is surrounded by absolute beauty. A great place to live.

    Terrible that Pattaya has such a bad reputation. Every city is what you make of it. Look for trouble, you'll find it. It's a great place and so much more than the reputation of a few party streets.

    Pattaya is amazing, so much more than girls bars. It seems you guys have won the lotto, you seem to be living well. Fancy massages, restaraunts instead of street food, roof top bars. You guys used to live the cheaper life which we enjoyed watching it seems you are making More money via TH-cam And why would you go to a Indian restaraunt when you are in Thailand. The food looked awful . Durian does smell, but is a delicious fresh fruit. Don't bother with dried.

    OVER BUILT....OVER CROWDED....SLUM LOOKING in its old age...had it right 40 years ago....Beach Town with Bars...now a Bar Town with crappy beach....Thai come here to make money but Home is in a Farm town...Foreigners come here either for Sex or all night Bar hops...or a multtitude tourist flash...it was a nice little Town..but every thing they could cram in...jam in...has destroyed the beautiful atmosphere it once had...too many of everything and 80% of the businesses do not seem to turn a profit yet stay open...home of the Bottom Feeders...Vampires....Alcoholics...Mamas Boys...bused in Tourists round the clock by the 10s of thousands...Pattraya...IS....hype and advertizing...becoming a Retirement Home for Old Men...weekend destination for the bored very seedy and hectic and congested...not very Relaxing unless your already a mega city Urbanite....and you thrive on Crowds and Noise and Traffic.....can you find sweet Spots...well ya...keep digging...you will find what you love...its in Pattaya...but the magic atmosphere is gone....its 2024😢
