Ritchie Blackmore is the only musician that I can (and do) listen to everyday and never get tired of it. So much varied music and styles. Endless talent and plays with his heart and soul...... Play on Ritchie, play on !!
Top phrasing and technique. He's still one of the greats. This stuff allows him freedom to showcase his talent, and shows how limiting rock music can be to someone of his talent.
Number one in my book. Blackmore is the only musician that I can listen to everyday (and I do) and never grow tired of his playing with his vast career. Thanks to Ritchie for a lifetime of great music.
You can listen to him for hours....the phrasing....note selection...vibrato....he allows for the phrases to breath...signs of a mature player....he has captivated and influenced....EVERYBODY....everybody bows to Ritchie
Still one of the BEST GUITARIST in the world !!! He has been my hero and is why I started playing when I was 8ys old. And lucky for me he lives the next town over and I got to meet him in stop&shop in front of the cat food...And I was not let down after meeting my HERO!!!
We were at his concerts a lot for the past 5 years and in those years he was the best and no matter how long the years have gone he will still be the best.
Four guitar giants came from England in that time. John McLaughlin, Steve Howe, Jeff Beck.... Ritchie Blackmore. Next tier down: Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton. Not to disparage them because both were fantastic. But those top four are the top four. All had incredible precision, incredible improvisational skills, and ‘fire’ in their playing.
Not actually Roy. I love Peter White, and I love Ritchie Blackmore, both are very accomplished, but Peter is not in the same world of accomplishment that Blackmore has achieved. Few guitarist can reach the accomplishments of Blackmore. Does not mean other guitarist are not good, it's just Ritchie has had a major impact on the entire existence of guitar, few can claim that.
He let you inside his heart for a few minutes....to take a look, then at the end, shuts the door. But for those few minutes, everyone stands still to listen! The Best is only brought to you by Great pain...so the legend says.
Ritchie shows another side to his great playing! When I hear people try to put Ritchie down cause he doesn't shred like Malmsteen or Roth I cringe. Shredding isn't music or art, but merely a small part of what can make up a proper solo. Guitar playing should always be about making music, and music is emotional, not mechanical. Here is where Blackmore will always beat the other great guitar players in my opinion. He is one of, if not the best at putting true emotion into his playing.
@repetitivemotion You hit the nail on the head with your remarks! Richie is one of the great innovators and so many tried to copy his style without any of his creative genius; just an empty shell....we need to appreciate musicians for what they brought their field and not just for pyrotechnical displays of speed...music is like a conversation it must be a two way process with spaces to breath...not machine gun fire of notes.
Definitely a very soulful player. I have friends who are fast as lightning very accomplished technically, and I always stress that those are wonderful tools to have but they shouldn’t be the primary purpose. The guitar is just like a voice. Who are you Inc. speed and technical ability, you have an impressive speed talker, but if you want to move people you need to sing. And perfection is one of the hardest things to listen to. If the slight mistakes or slight things that are off that make great music. Obviously, I don’t need people should be singing off key totally out of Temple bar but I remember being in a studio with a guitar player who wanted to get his solo perfect and did like 60 takes. Is it Tak Waterman perfect. It came in a hair late. He came in here early. Finally he got it exactly where he wanted. It sounded horrible! We used the first take!! By the end, it sounded like computerized music. And that sounds awful. Another reason to not let a perfectionist player decide when a recording is right. I don’t think anyone has ever been 100% happy with what was done in the studio, but you have to have people who know when to say stop.
i appreciate. Ritchie actually got ideas for alot of his songs from other artist. Clapton, Hendrix, Mozart even. Ritchie did a bit of appreciating as well lol.
@repetitivemotion I was with my doughter at the time and I was shocked I didn't know what to say other then asking if he was Ritchie Blackmore and he replied with ( yes and shook my hand ).With the could've would've should've I'm just happy to have meet him at all.
@repetitivemotion yes indeed every word you said is ture i was about to say exactly the same thing , to me and many who'd lived in the late 70s and during 80s ritchie is one of the most ever rock ,heavy metal , Rn' Roll, Rn' B, blues, neo classical and baroque musical icon and the greatest guitaritst I 've ever known
@joeylodes Actually, Ritchie introduced Renaissance music to Candice. Most people assume it was the other way around. Anyone who has followed Blackmore very long will realize he’s not a follower or one to be told what to do. He’s his own person.
And to think....Ritchie and I just had a glass of fine red wine in a dark corner of an obscure Connecticut restaurant and spoke all night of Elizabethan lute music!
Very very nice but don't forget, there's no better or greatest guitarist, just men which play with they harts and soul and do the best they can for everyone in this world (Knopfler, S. Luc, Segovia, Django, Hendrix and many more and the other unknowns.....) RESPECT !
In my opinion Ritchie invented shred playing in early 70´s (maybe even earlier). There are old recordings that are historical proof that sweeping and fast picking was quite normal to Blackmore. He does not have to use those tricks anymore. Malmsteen didn´t add anything really different or new that Ritchie haven´t already played especially in live concerts more than 10 years before.
Ritchie has said before that he could play to an infinite number of people in a crowd, and he'd never feel like it was playing out personally to them, he was always jealous of people who could play to couples in restaurants, and he set out to be able to play with that level of personality..I'd say he's definitely reached it by now, wouldnt you??
@beeroosterm - So if he was still with Deep Purple he would be a better musician? Would he be playing different music if he was with Deep Purple? No he wouldnt, his style of playing would remain the same, the difference would be he would probably be playing an electric guitar. Deep Purple haven't looked back?? Thats all they do!
@lokey440 well said mate i mean page, JH, blackmore etc.. all great guitarist but i enjoy the music they produce just cant stand the people who have to make a competition out of whos the best honestly cant anyone enjoy music nowadays
@janderson2000 it wasn't meant to be a criticism, but i've seen other posts on this site that called Roth a shredder, perhaps because he can play very fast and clean. he certainly could be classified as a neo-classical guitar player, which is one way people describe shredders. i like Roth's playing and think he is a most talented guitarist.
The only guitarist I've heard Blackmore praise was Beck. In my mind Blackmore has always been "the man to beat." He is just too talented. Want Gilmour's "Time" solo? I'm sure Ritchie could deliver even extra goods. He just has proven to me time and time again to be the master. Oh yes, there's Hendrix. But Ritchie is right there. A man doing what he does best at the highest level. I do envy this dude's ability. Much of it is classical. But as I've learned, that is one helluva place to start.
Let me start by saying I enjoyed this very much. Ritchie is an artist and a very expressive guy. I have to respond to the guy below who placed Malmsteen and Roth in the same category. Anyone who has heard Uli-Jon Roth in detail knows he chooses notes carefully and isn't guilty of the same kind of monotonous self-indulgence as Yngwie Malmsteen. I just felt that had to be said...
A brilliant musician and guitarist - and that was a beautiful piece of music. Way better than Yngwie Malmsteen's acoustic improvisation that sounds like someone twanging elastic bands
Blackmore has always been a perfectionist, but this time he proved he's perfection
He is a MONSTER but a monster with feeling and emotion is better......Ritchie Blackmore....The one and only....
Ritchie Blackmore the Greatest guitar player ever !!!
The most unique guitarist in the world and my most favourite!

THIS IS MY GUITAR HERO
one of the greatest guitar palyers alive
L'unique et sans doute le meilleur. Merci infiniment Richie.
This man was / is truly blessed with a gift to deliver and he certainly has done that for us all !
You can listen to him for hours....the phrasing....note selection...vibrato....he allows for the phrases to breath...signs of a mature player....he has captivated and influenced....EVERYBODY....everybody bows to Ritchie
The best guitar player world has ever seen , any other opinion is just wrong
now that's a stupid statement
You're an idiot, any other opinion of you is just wrong.

already have tickets for two shows /NY and NJ/ and can not wait to see and listen him again. Long live Ritchie.
3:30 - 3:46 is probably the most dynamic acoustic guitar playing I've heard since John Williams.
We were at his concerts a lot for the past 5 years and in those years he was the best and no matter how long the years have gone he will still be the best.

Blackmore is a guitar players guitarist! true feeling in every note, and as fast as he whats to be! Blows me away everytime!!
Aku harus mengatakan,"Sungguh luar biasa👍👍👍👍👍"
Terima kasih Ritchie 🙏
Love him or hate him but this is pure genius.

RITCHIE IS THE BEST!!!PAGE IS GOOD,HENDRIX IS GOOD,BUT RITCHIE IS GOD!!!
The man in black has spoken in his own unique way !!!
People go on about jimmy page and hendrix, but RB should be up there with em.
+mrj33v3s When do the Hobbits appear on stage?
He is for those that have any appreciation for musical genius. Blackmore is one of the Guitar Gods.
Page is regularly recognized for his genius in the production and mixing of Led Zeppelin as he was decades ahead of anyone else.
BMX 4 AUTISM No man Hendrix was more ahead of anyone else than Paige.
He's better than all of them.
I can picture Blackmore playing this in great halls and fortresses absolutely blowing royalties minds back in Shakespearean times
Blackmore is still the best
amazing......words cant express
Absolutely. I've been watching this guy for 45 years now, and he still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end.
Every the beast

LAS MANOS DE DIOS
CUANDO UN HOMBRE PUEDE TRANSMITIRLE A SUS MANOS LO QUE CUENTA SU CORAZON
There are faster players. There are more "technical" players. I am yet to hear anyone who can hit an accord with the soul more than this man.
You are so right. I encourage players like Tim Henson to listen to artists like Ritchie to become better musicians.
