That record never made anyone consider Wilt as great it's an amazing individual achievement which is what 40k, speaks to his longevity for sure and his accumen for the game of basketball, but the great of all time. Are you happy that you might be able to get this kid who is currently 17 to hopefully lead you into the playoffs next year?". Most people would have the same response. Especially in 2003 where there was no real example yet of an 18 year old who went straight to the NBA and made an immediate impact. Garnet and Kobe were the 2 closest ones and it took them a couple seasons to make their mark.
