I just want to be sure I understand what you're doing. You're making a single over a string or thin piece of yarn, then you ply or coil ( forget how you did that anti-clockwise), and then you ply it again to the right by doing the glazing over the same single piece of yarn you used for the initial spinning. Am I understanding this correctly? In other words, the finished yarn will have two strands of thin yarn in it along with the coiled yarn? I love your videos. Thank you so much for making thes.e
yes thats pretty much it in a nutshell! This can also be done over a simple single and then plyed too, or the silk could be added onto a two ply, I chose a three ply (with he two threads and the single) because I like the extra body and texture it creates with the silk around it :)
Hi Katie, fairly strong, it’s different for everyone but basically it needs to be drawing in the yarn comfortably without needing to hold it back or push it to the wheel
Are you coil plying in the same direction you spun your corespun single or opposite? Never mind! I didn't watch the video for long enough. Thanks for sharing your awesome yarn tutorial!
K Bradshaw I think I said but later in the video, I spun the single clockwise, coil plyed anti clockwise, then coiled again and glazed anti clockwise. Every time the yarn goes back in the wheel it goes the opposite way :)
I usually use a strong thread or fine yarn such as a fluffy lace mohair, the main thing is its not slippery and its strong - fine wool yarns also tend to be more forgiving of extra twist than things like cottons

the fiber you used for the core spinning is interesting it looks like one colour in your hand but two colours on the bobbin.
