  • Coil spinning is such a fun way to play with fiber, especially when it's bright and colorful. It doesn't take a whole lot of concentration once you get the hang of it. And it's a great way to create beautiful yarn to accent your knitted, crocheted, and woven pieces!
In this tutorial, I go over how to prepare and spin your fiber to create coils over a core of yarn or wire.
    I hope you enjoy!

I know this video is old and I can see you haven't updated your channel in a while, but I just wanted to say thank you for both these core spinning tutorials. I've watched a fair few tutorials now and yours has been the most clear and concise, especially for a beginner. Repeating the movement so we get a better look at it was a really big help, often people skim over things so fast forgetting that beginners know nothing about the process! The wire spinning was an added bonus too, I've also been looking at tutorials for that without much luck, so that was a big help. Your yarn came out beautiful, I'm looking forward to giving it a try now! Shame you're not doing more tutorials, you're a very good teacher :)

This is the clearest representation of this technique as a tutorial I have found. Thank you for taking the time.

Really clear demonstration of the thick and thin coils and the beehive techniques. [I think it should be called shell yarn!] Gorgeous colour roving / yarn.
Can't wait to learn how to weave like this. Thank you for sharing. 😊

Wow! I've tried crocheting with wire but I had no idea that it could be spun! Thank you for sharing some basics on spinning.
