Absolutely. I was right behind Calvin when he threw and everyone I talked to agreed that it was one of the coolest shots we had ever seen given the stance and distance
@@christopherrhoten6686 I was helping with crowd control. The thing that you won’t see on the video,is he threw so high that as you were trying to track its flight, you forget where the basket is. It wasn’t until his disc hit the ground that your like “ummmm Calvin, you can’t make it look that easy” because you then realize where he landed in relation to the basket.
@@TheTeamdom if you watch when the shoot from the basket view, look at the base. You’ll see a quick flash when it bounces , took me a few times as well.
@@prattacaster it looks kind of like a Gibson but that would mean they’re giving out $2,000 trophies at this tournament? That’s a pretty expensive trophy.
One of the best finishing rounds in recent history. Back nine was the scoring 9 all weekend, but to finish 8 in a row? Magic. The whole card just throwin' darts had to help. Good vibes vs tension like the lead card.
Great coverage y’all, love the commentary style across the whole group of players and the live course sound capture too, everything sounds great from the birds to the claps and the chains!
Simon winning the guitar trophy is perfect. Can't wait to see him play it. He'll get way more use out of it than his OTB open 2022 trophy that was a disc 😂
That appears to be Zach Melton on the bag for Heimburg... Mic them up... LOL... Sure to be of the greatest caddy to disc golfer dialogue or at least very entertaining
If field keeps being this close to each other, I expect to see even a 4th car winner this season or at least not surprised if we see one. If chase card is basically tied to lead card, then chase card or 3rd card might even have a slight benefit, mentally. Winning is not easy and being in a lead card can cause extra pressure. Third card doesn't have cameras and that helps many players to play better. It just takes that one of the top 10 players is on a 3rd card and plays a hot round and is only 2-5 strokes behind the leader. We are used to see chase card being 10 stokes behind the leader or something like that. It used to be difficult to come from behind. Now 20 players in 3-4 stokes makes it a lot easier.
Compared to the last couple of "park" courses played on tour, this course is sooooo much better. Different shots with unique lines and challenges on almost every hole. It really highlights how bad/boring Austin and Houston were.
This tournament unfortunately got wrecked by the bad weather days 1 and 2. The entire vibe felt down and would have been so different if it were sunny like day 3. Oh well, just bad luck.
Im here because I wanted to watch Simons streak. But damn, really nice UX here on Gatekeeper. I think this is the best in the business right now. Really good work. Also, more fast paced and quicker to the action. I think this is something Jomez starts fail at. Longer isen't always better. Better rewind, better stats, faster droneview (THANK YOU!!) and better "cuts" between action. Keep it up guys, I will be back!
I'm grateful for this chase card coverage. I only wish that you would have shown the standings after each hole, to show where Calvin and Simon were in relation to the lead card. It would have made it much more exciting to watch.
Simon if you need an amp I recommend the Roland micro cube. Has the Fender clean tones, acoustic, British, Marshall stack, battery powered and at 3 watts you can crank it up without blowing your ear drums. Usually find them around $50 used.
My buddy and I call it “Stonehenge”, when a spike hyzer sticks in the ground like on hole 16. I suggest you coin this term. It may have more sticking power than the diamond stuff, and you can call it your own phrase. Win-win.
Thanks for the coverage! Great stuff! I'd love some clarity on the current position indicators. Are the lead card scores presented as if they've completed the hole the chase card just finished? Or is it from whatever hole they completed when the chase card finished their hole? Honestly, I've come to really like the live score view JoMez has adopted as I can get into the mindset of the players I'm watching. I'd love to see that here as well. But at least a clarification would help.
UDisc Live and PDGA update the holes as the card finishes that specific hole. It is never estimated for the chase card. If chase card just finished 18 and lead card just finished 17 and submitted the scores for that hole, everything updates to that current score. They usually have a "Thru X Holes" when listing the information
I understand udisc. That's not what I'm talking about. Immediately when hole 17 completes, the graphics list Simon as being in the solo lead. But that's because of what Gannon had not yet done on hole 17. The announcers mentioned something about projecting the lead card over the last holes which is why he was listed in first place. At that point I can't tell what has and hasn't been accounted for in the listed positions and what's required for Simon to actually win.
There's honestly nothing like Queen Fish commentary. You're a perfect blend of deep insights into the game (with lived experience having played that round) plus positive, chill vibes. Thank you Nate and Andrew for all the time you've spent in the recording booth!
I find Fish hyper critical of shots and misunderstanding misses for strategy. Saying things like, "he would like to be a little closer" when an approach is inside the circle.
@@CJski I mean, they're commentating on the chase cards of the biggest MPO tournaments. These guys are trying to win. IMO it's a healthy criticism that most of the dudes throwing the disc would be the first to agree with him.
@@Arrica101 I’ve definitely stopped watching Jomez because they don’t keep the scores up anymore and when they bring up what disc is being thrown right when the player is about to throw it distracts me and I miss the shot and have to go back to see it.

I'm digging the Simon/Nick Carl combo. I have a gut feeling that some of those classic Simon moments we saw and are used to may not have been unlocked without Nick by his side. What do y'all think?
Vinny couldn't make it happen from #13 on. Simon was driving and approaching like a master. Had only one putt to make. It's like everyone surrendered to Simon who was playing like the OG he is. Ricky and Paul are off to very slow starts. This is a weird year for DG. So many close fields. I love it.
Zach would have played a couple of hours before Calvin teed off even if he wasn't hurt. He's an OK player but usually doesn't make the top 40. Competition is getting REALLY tough lately.
Like to see that lone star took out the girl saying they had the best plastic. Pretty bold since they been in the game for about 10 minutes. I imagine they got a lot of calls from other companies not liking such a statement.
Truth is that no one has the best plastic and there is no such thing is the best driver or best midrange. Personal preferences and no one has thrown all the plastics or the discs so there might be a "better" option out there for everyone but they haven't thrown it. Dumb to advertise like that.
Disagree. He's never cared about winning as much as the enjoyment he gets from throwing discs. And he's said as much. He'll never be the best even though he probably could win majors, worlds, etc. And that's ok.
