Trains Changing Tracks At Railroad Interchange, Caboose & Longest Steel Gons Train Ever! NS On CSX

- Close Look At Train Coming Straight At You Changing Tracks & Diverting From CSX Main To Norfolk Southern Main Line! DPU Chugging Around Tight Curve, Train With Transfer Caboose & Huge CSX Mixed Freight With DPU. Features 2 Railroad Crossings That Might Be Abandoned Soon. More Trains Diverting At The Cross Over Interlocking. 5 Trains In Hamilton, Ohio. Part 3.
Excellent views up close of how trains change tracks. Norfolk Southern trains are seen crossing over from Track 1 to Track 2 and then diverting off of CSX onto their own tracks at the railroad interchange in downtown Hamilton, Ohio. The Butler Street railroad crossing will definitely be abandoned when the new motel and restaurant are built. The Dayton Street railroad crossing situation is unknown. The big parking lots seen in this video is where the future development will take place. For now we will keep filming trains before history changes this area. The big buildings that are vacant are old paper mill buildings.
We also see the platform/transfer caboose that I featured in a previous video. Here we see it returning northbound after taking a long cut of tank cars south. The locomotive pulling it is an EMD GP38-2.
Check out the Norfolk Southern train with the gondola cars. The entire train is nothing but gondola cars loaded with steel and heading off of the CSX Toledo Sub and back onto the NS New Castle District. I filmed a train exactly like this in Muncie, Indiana a few months back. Does anyone remember that? I believe it was carrying steel slabs.
We also have a monster CSX mixed freight with a DPU in the middle. That train has to have well over a hundred cars. I hope someone counts those cars for me because I bet the train is over two miles long. There is also a Norfolk Southern intermodal train in the video seen diverging off of CSX and onto home rails. I tried to get a few different angles for the diverging trains. A video that I posted about a week ago had a similar NS train with a DPU that was diverging. It was seen at a slightly different angle. Hamilton is an awesome place to watch trains! I hope it doesn't change too much when the new developments take place.
I have 2 shout outs in the video in the intro. I hope Carol and Kyle see my shout outs. I believe that I have given a shout out to everyone who requested one. If I didn't see your request just remind me again. The end of the video has the Live Action Pets and the slide show that comes from the video.
Filmed Tuesday, January 2, 2024 in 1080p with 60fps. Thanks for watching!

@@JawTooth Thank you JT!
@@FabianDiazTrainsTrucksNCars I hope railfans will be able to watch trains from the parking when it's done. Right now it's city property. Another issue is with the loss of the railroad crossing on Butler street. Will they make the area a no train horn zone like they did in nearby Glendale? There is also the concern about fencing
God Bless you too.❤
@@JawTooth I guess with two Motels planned right by that rail line, the no horn rule will have to come in? 👍💯🇬🇧
Nice shot of disappearing DPU around the corner.
Thanks!
A fabulous NS gondola train with 2 gorgeous locomotives! If all of those cars were loaded to the max just the freight weighed 19 million pounds! That's sort of mind staggering yet some idiots want to try to beat them through the crossings. Obviously they have no clue how long it takes to stop a train like that. 😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
That is incredible !
Big gondola trains, platform cabooses, trains crossing from track to track. Hamilton never disappoints. Nice job.👍🏼
Thank you very much!
Beautiful! Three engine lashup “elephant style”. Thank You!
Thank you too!
Have a blessed Sunday to you and your family, Mr Jawtooth.
Excellent video JT! Thanks 👍 very much. 😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤
Glad you enjoyed it
Happy Sunday, JawTooth and Mrs JawTooth
Another AWESOME video

Thanks for watching and counting cars Jonathan!
Nice to watch full scale trains go by. Massive amounts of weight. Carry on.
Wow! Great catch, @JawTooth, Brian, thank you.
Very welcome
Another beautiful sight.
Indeed!
That first train had a nice rhythm for awhile
Indian railways have platform cabooses . Also , love the clickety clack & squealing flanges. Thanks JT.
Thanks for watching!
I love it when you go to Hamilton and do videos I live in Florida but I’m from Hamilton so it brings back memories thank you.
Awesome! Thanks for watching! I will be filming in Florida next month after my operation
Hey jaw tooth they emptied the yard with couple of those trains . Cool GP38 and caboose. Have a great railroad day. 🙋♀️🚂
Thanks! You too!
Amazing videos of how to keep up the good work and happy Sunday
Thank you! You too!
Merci beaucoup pour cette très belle vidéo ! 👍🙏
Thanks!
@@JawTooth 🖐🖐🙏🙏

Cute little caboose.
Thanks for watching!
Before I forget: HAPPY NEW YEAR, JAW TOOTH AND FAMILY from Bart/BBB, Netherlands. Keep on going making nice videos, Jaw Tooth!
Happy new year!
Great video JT. Enjoyed watching that NS train switch over to the Newcastle sub with ever last gondola in the yard... 😂
Thanks for watching!
Nice change over too
Yeah thanks
Thanks for the video. Stay warm and most of all, stay safe!
Thanks and will do
Good morning and happy sunday
Morning
I'm getting cold just watching you!
Lol
Good morning Mr JT! My favorite train to start off. 😊 Made my day. Wow.a DPU...yes!Up north does it mean when there's a DPU half way of the train mean it's two trains in one? It does down south.😮Goodness what a long train! Thanks so much again for an amazing video. Love your pets. ❤😊
Yes, it is two trains put into one. That was a monster. Thanks for watching!
Love when you give all the info. on the locations, beside giving us awesome videos, all we need now is some speed checks👍👍
You got it! I keep forgetting. I had it with me again. I told Scott I am going to use that thing today and I still forgot
Your way to young to show signs of old age like me.@@JawTooth 😄😄
Another great video from Jaw Tooth. Have a nice day 😊🌈
Thanks!
191 train thank you my friend it me Eric 1 love 👍🏿😁👍🏿😁👐😁👐😁
Thank you too
That was a huge Gondola Train. Those beat up Gondolas are like Rodney Dangerfield.....They just don't get any respect. That one CSX Manifest train was huge and I was surprised it didn't have more power on it.
Thanks for watching Steve!
Great, that's very interesting ❤
Thanks!
Awesome video, Hamilton living up to its reputation. That was allot of gonds on that one train. They need some new ones. Thanks for the video, Brian stay warm roll on
Thanks for watching!
A shoving caboose is used on locals in the Fredericksburg, VA area on the RF&P subdivision out of the Fredericksburg yard. But it's actually an old bay window caboose. The caboose will lead in some instances in order for a few sidings to be served.
Awesome! I would love to film it
You always get great action in Hamilton. I hope those new hotels make that a better neighborhood so it's not so "sketchy". That transfer caboose is definitely a rare sight today. Back in the 60s and 70s the Milwaukee Road had a bunch of homebuilds that looked like a peaked roof doghouse on a flat car with a handrail running down the middle. Most had an air whistle mounted on the roof that sounded like an English steam locomotive, very high pitched. Great video through and through, enjoyed it much. Thanks JT!
Thanks for watching and commenting! I like seeing cabooses. Homemade ones would be really cool to see
Awesome video with a dpu working hard but wait there’s more 👍😎🚂🇺🇸👍
Thanks!
Good Sunday morning Brian, I hope you had a great weekend. Stay safe out there this week and stay warm. Another great video.
Thanks Bill! Have a great week also!
More exciting train action in Hamilton OH with the trains changing tracks
with long lines of train cars behind them and a caboose, also with an appearance by the Train Dogs and
the recaps Thanks Jaw Tooth.🤠

Awesome video of the caboose.
Thanks!
Amazing catches you got Jaw Tooth, the 4004, unpatch Conrail Gondolas, quite a few, Conrail boxcar, old TFM autorack, and more! Also you and Scott from 1960gambit have been railfanning together these past few days , you 2 seem good friends.
Yes, I have known Scott for years. We used to be in the same train club that met in Batavia. Thanks for watching!
Amazing videos Jaw Tooth keep up the good work
Thanks! will do
Vintage L&N
I saw one at Jacksonville, Florida at time back.
That gondola train was heavy. Nice catch on that.
Thanks!
Sure caught some long ones this time! Great video JT. ❤
Yes! Thank you!
Love the switch-overs. Busy train day, very cool. Thanks, Jaw Tooth.
Thank you too!
What an incredible CSX mixed freight! The DPU sounded beautiful as it worked so hard. I love the green box cars and the blue tank car. They were very pleasant diversions to the normal colors. I counted 183 cars plus or minus so about twice the normal length . Great catch JT! 😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for watching and counting cars!
Awesome video JT! Lots of great trains!

"5:22" D.P.U.I.C.U, Norfolk Southern #4094 thanks for the track 👣 switch from one to two CSX to NS lines.
Love the LONEWLF post too, happy birthday Kyle !

Thanks for watching!
You should invest
In a Carrhart
Work jacket
They're super warm
Carrhart is really nice. I might get one because it's time for a new pair of good shoes also. Seems like I have one in the closet, I need to check
I noticed some of the gondolas have Southern still on them. Good to see the Caboose.
Thanks for watching!
Really enjoy your videos
D-P-U-I-C-U, pushing a short train switching tracks in Hamilton Ohio. Caboose had it's own DPU. Mid train DPU working hard on that long CSX train.
Yes, Lol
You gotta love Hamilton for great train and driver action great video thanks Brian great shots of the caboose
Thanks for watching!
Awesome video JT. Hardworking DPU icu, I think I saw gambit. Switching lanes so cool. Love Norfie
Thanks 👍
Nice catch on the 4004.
Thanks! I was hoping that someone would notice that
I enjoy your Railroad videos
Enjoyed the video. Liked seeing the trains divert
Thank you very much!
Yeah Jawtooth!! Good show!!
Hamilton OH is great place for trains....I wish I was there.
It is a great Railfan hangout. I recommend it, especially now before it changes
@@JawTooth I would if I wasn't broke in this economy
Wow - you picked a happening hot spot, Jawtooth. Switching mains and heading off on to two different subs. Always enjoyable when you provide the details, like those heavily loaded gondolas, the clue being tightly compresses springs. "That might be the longest loaded gondola train I've every seen," - that says a whole lot! And train #4 was almost twice as long!! Oh, yeah, congrats on getting a nice warm hat for such a cold day. Thanks for sharing your expertise and well-composed videos for folks like me - 20 miles from any active rail line. Stay well, Bruce.
Thanks for watching and commenting Bruce! I will be in the snow when we get some. Have a great week!
That CSX one was definitely long good vid Brian! Keep it up!❤
Thanks! Will do!
Great video love the caboose
Thanks 👍
That’s cool to see trains change tracks!
Thanks for watching!
I seen a shorter transfer car on the grand Trunk railroad in flint michigan in the mid upper seventies
Awesome! I wonder where it is today. I hope its in a museum
It snowed in my area in Pennsylvania gonna get trains today
Awesome!
@@JawTooth I froze myself off. I lost feeling in my feet and hands and it was crazy 😧
It’s really cool how trains cross over from one track to another.
I like that also. I tried to get a few different angles showing that
Love that echo!
Great Video, I was in Hamilton Ohio on December 16th.
Very cool!
@JawTooth And Caught lots of Trains in the area.
Good morning Jaw Tooth.
Good morning!
😊the hotel with the rooftop? they cal that Penthouse.lol.😅
Some day I will make a video from up there
The cross-over shot on the switches was sweet! Good stuff.
Thanks!
Good morning! The rooftop restaurant sounds like a good place for a VRF PTZ to set up shop.
Morning!
Great catches and nice video
Thank you very much!
Cool I came across your channel. Thanks for another video:) you got a new subscriber.
Welcome aboard! Thanks for watching and subbing
That same caboose was in your video about 5 days before this video. I remember the number 900045!
Yes, I got it a few times in the past couple months
Hey JT- I would suspect that with new fancy hotel and retail development, Hamilton may soon be a No-Horn Zone. Definitely don't want trains waking folks up all night long :-)
Yes, I am afraid that will happen. I hope they dont put up fences though
Thank you for another video from your trip to Hamilton, Ohio on 2 January 2024, Jaw Tooth! The train of gondola cars with steel in them was a long train. Are there steel coils in those gondola cars or is the steel in some other form like slabs, steel wire, rods, etc.? You mentioned that articulated auto rack car that appeared in a Norfolk Southern train at 22:01 in your comments. Did you notice the reporting marks on that car? The reporting marks were COER. COER are the reporting marks for the Crab Orchard & Egyptian Railroad which is a short line railroad headquartered in Marion, Illinois. Back in the 1970s, the COER had a 2-8-0 steam engine #17 which has the distinction of being the last operating steam locomotive in America. This steam engine, which still has COER reporting marks and logo is on display at the Boone and Scenic Railroad in Boone, Iowa. The COER also has a 2-4-2T steam engine that is currently in storage at the St. Louis, Iron Mountain and Southern Railway in Jackson, Missouri that is pending restoration. I found the information on the steam locomotives on Wilipedia.org. The last time the Wikipedia page for the COER was revised was on 25 November 2023, at 22:49 (UTC). Here is a link to a photo of COER #17 that I found at rrpicturearchives.net: www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=4541959
The photo was taken in 2017.
I think they are steel slabs. I was on the pedestrian bridge in Kentucky when it went under in the fall. Thanks for the information on the Crab Orchard & Egyptian Railroad. I know I have read about it in Trains Magazine. I want to get back to Iowa again and check it out. Have a great week Thomas!
Unit 4760 fresh out of rebuilding. Middle unit on second train.
Yes, we have been seeing a lot of them. I like how clean they are
hello Jaw & it's is Randy and i like yours video is cool Thanks Jaw Friends Randy
Hello Randy my good friend! How are you doing? Thanks for being here
Nice Video
Thanks

Nice Video!
Thanks 🔥
A NB gondola train pasted the Rosemont about an hour ago. Could not tell if loaded or not, but maybe it is the return gon train to your SB.
im really getting into these videos you make . just blow my mind that these things are so long wowow :)
Thanks for watching!
I enjoyed that video👍👍
Thanks 👍
It would be cool to see the inside of a caboose!
I have seen and rode on the inside of a few cabooses.
I have filmed them a few times when they are on display
Hey Jaw tooth I remember you have another video from this same location not too long ago. You had mention the hotels going in the parking lots in that one.
Good video Jawtooth
Thanks!
Happy New Year
Happy new year
Great video son
Appreciate it
the hotel will probably be filled with railfans 😂
Good morning to everyone. Great video J.T. I have been looking for a platform caboose for my ho can't find one. So I'm going to build one.
Go for it! That would be cool to see on a layout. I was wondering if they make one
@@JawTooth I will take pictures and share with you. I'm tied up on a big b-b-q pit build right now.
Поздравляю тебя с новым годом желаю тебе крепкого здоровья не земной любви космического счастья и вселенской удачи. Люблю таких как ты и тебе подобных.
It's almost as if the trains are living up to a New Year's resolution They keep moving into their correct yard or main line and they're not blocking the crossings. Something says the weather this coming week can you make for a tough travel week so we may have to just enjoy live action at the homefront
This is going to be a tough week coming up, I can feel it coming
"22:20" defect detector very faint with this 2 mile train left to right ✅
Not many of them are so long as to be passing the detector and me at the same time. That is a monster train
I like it
Thanks!
