You never cease to amaze me how you can get these vehicles which haven’t moved in years running and driving in a matter of minutes! If you were on Britain’s got talent I’d give you the golden buzzer! Great, entertaining video as ever 👍👍👍👍
Got a feeling that this vehicle was owned from new by a Coal Merchant in West Cornwall. I am pretty sure that I drove this vehicle a few times when working for their oil division between 1985 and 1988. This vehicle always ruined my light coloured shirts at the time due to the amount of coal dust. Strangely enough the Peugeot main dealer, who would have supplied this vehicle new at the time, is in the village where we now live and about half a mile away. Love the you tube channel, keep up the good work Al.
Used to be ten a penny and rightly so because they were brilliant. There's a fella down the road from me has a shed full of them (and a couple of saloons) in various states of repair. His pride and joy is a 305 Van sprayed Miami Blue with a 205 GTi style bodykit and 1.9 GTi wheels. It's very much an ongoing project because of the lack of parts though. Looks the part too
These are so rare. Used to signwrite new ones for a big customer. Love to get hold of one and paint and letter it in his livery of the time and drive it into his yard. Probably end up getting a taxi home though!
My uncle was a fitter many moons ago and he switched the old diesel out for a later 1.9 td out a 405 i believe in his old van It was a flying machine it would go off the clock and stick like shit to a blanket on the bends Eventually the metal worm got the better of it and it was scrap and it loved the agri fuel never seen a petrol station
Amazing Al , but surely a chap of your caliber can make up some floor pans out of sheet steel or a spare bonnet ?? I don't doubt your ability to make something yourself that will do the trick , yet another job for us to look forward to , have a great week , see you wednesday , good luck to Barry's son , hope his house move is successful
Al, your mate TBE has recently visited a breakers in France, loads of 80s 90s vehicles in stock, most with very little or no rust! Didn't notice a 305 although there may have been one off camera... Worth an ask! Excellent channel dude 👍
Cool car. We didn't bring these into Australia but growing up my dad and grandparents had 404's 504's ect. Learnt manual driving in a 404. Thanks for your videos. Marc from Australia.
we spoke on the phone the other day about the mirrors on a boxer and why originals are important great to see the flat 4 run and the pug too nice going alfrom the other side of the bridge
I drove 305 vans for work back in the 80's when I worked for Peugeot Talbot. Awesome vans well the diesel was all 3 of mine where diesel, E, F and G reg.
Great video Al, i owned a 250000 mile 1984 estate version in the late 90s. Was a great old tool and did the job well, it was a funny old starter at that mileage, first thing in the morning it would chug, chug, chug for about 30 seconds then fire up and you couldn't see the car for smoke 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Eventually discovered that the valves had closed up causing the bad start. Enjoy the content and your comical approach to producing each video. Always making me laugh👍
Lucky the clutch freed off nice & easily! For any bodywork, I`d be booking a weekend break to Spain, or the south of France & taking my cordless grinder..
I think the fuel primer bulb is similar to the Ford escort diesel of the same vintage. It was possible to strip and remove the sludge and kack that blocked up the two little non return rubber valves inside. Once cleaned out they would always prime up lovely
Passed my driving test in 1986, went to work and was handed the keys of a B-reg 305 van (a petrol one). It was brown and beige two tone outside, split at the suage line, and a brown interior. I bloody loved it. I haven't seen one for years and years and years - I'd almost forgotten that they ever existed. It had a pretty good turn of speed about it, as I remember - might have done @@@mph down the M42 at some point.
Midland Shire Farmers had loads of those, and the vans occasionally served as spare cars while the actual cars were being maintained. That sounds just how I remember that sounding in the late 80s :-)
Good afternoon. Another very Good video from you my friend. I feel that this very nice Classic, will be a Good restoration project for You. I look forward to seeing more of Your Excellent video's. All the Best to You. Jonathan. B. 🙂🙂👍👍
Next time you're down southern France go to a few scrap yards and cut the bottom out a 305, I doubt that it will be rusty like the one you have or not have if you know what I mean, nice to hear the engine wake up so nicely
Brilliant video Al another blast from the past for me i used to drive same kind of van for work and the 504 pickup brilliant tool's and in the day cheep to run.
The last time i see one of those, was last month, admittedly it was in a garden in the back end of phuket thailand. They have some interesting stuff just lying around.
I had one of these 20 years ago. I put a citoren exantia 1.9DT engine in with 5 speed box. It had a non standard turbo giving 130bhp at the wheels. I had a blazing argument with a MOT tw@ who failed my van for wipers not working... If you know how they work. I got 50 free mots out of that garage. I sold it back to the previous owner. I replaced it with a Sierra 2.3D with a 505 2.5TD to do towing work.
Morning big Al 👍🏻 Another great video getting an old Peugeot running 🤣 When it cracked off it sounded like a taxi rank in the 80s lol 😆 I’m sure you could make some floor pans that’ll make interesting content 😊 Or ask Dave the gas man in a garage working on his escort for some help 🤔
Lad down from me still runs a non turbo 106 van in white. I had a silver 106 non turbo car that ran on fumes . Slow wasnt the word lol ,but got the job done 😂
Great vid, Al, workhorse of a van. The last vid was in France, home of Peugeot, have you any contacts in France that could get you new old stock parts. I heard you mention SITREP on you last vid, are you ex Forces{ REME} perhaps ???
Me and my dad made a rear canopy for a pickup version think 1 of those would be raier than rocking horse shit .a bit of work on your hands but you should manage it before you retire
Drove wan 4 speed was nippier than the 5 speed. Was 1.6 diesel. No ps nothing.drop down door Disaster of a back axle on them , weak point.great sound and she wasnt smokey
Yesssssss had one free in px and money on top that was gonna fail a mot Axel started giving out the rear wheels touched the inner arches so I smashed the arches in Totally reliable engine though
Mine was the beigey white colour too , ended up putting a axel on it and a mot and getting close to a grand for it cleaned up Just a cool old van these 305’s
I found a photo of your 305 van brand spanking new parked outside of Hawkins Motors, St Stephens (still trading!) but can't share it on here. Let me know if you want me to forward it! I grew up a couple of miles away from the garage.
If you read back through the comments there one from the guy that drove it and worked for them when it was new. It’s still get both the original dealer number plates 👍
Hetty/ Henry vacuums are the best you can get. Apparantly 80% of all those made are still in use. Do you remember the petrol 305's that had the fan belt that ran round the corner?
I remember finding those in scrapyards while looking for parts - the older models with the XL5 and XR5 engines. Mine was an XU5-engined facelift model so it had a normal electric fan.
One of the best diesel engines ever manufactured the fabulous XUD ❤️
Xud definitely one on its own definitely one of the best ❤️
I had BXs with that engine fantastic
You never cease to amaze me how you can get these vehicles which haven’t moved in years running and driving in a matter of minutes! If you were on Britain’s got talent I’d give you the golden buzzer! Great, entertaining video as ever 👍👍👍👍
Man's the most watchable mechanic on TH-cam love these videos keep them coming pal
Fantastic vans. I used to drive one as a delivery van and was surprisingly quick for a van.
My granddaughter watches a kids program called bluey from BBC same opening tune as you I keep going Al 6d diesel everytime I here it 😂😂

Lovely to know sheds like that still exist!
These are so rare. Used to signwrite new ones for a big customer. Love to get hold of one and paint and letter it in his livery of the time and drive it into his yard. Probably end up getting a taxi home though!
Will keep my eyes open for 305 van/spares Al. Very popular car/van in its day. Yours is a Cornish reg van too GL is Truro area I believe.
what a beauty. I had a 1.5 petrol on a B plate. Best riding van ever.
The engine sounds great for not having been started in all those years..ticking over beautifully.
Love the fact you are wearing a NW200 T-shirt the day after the NW200 finished. Really love your videos and your sayings!

The older than christ on a bike comment had me laughing out loud.
Love the police riot van and 4x4 Renault kangoo
Brilliant my father was diesel fitter brought up with welding and diesel pumps. Was excellent grounding for career in engineering over the yearS.
Another ace video sir 🎩 always a joy to watch 👍👍
Midland Shire Farmers had loads of those, and the vans occasionally served as spare cars while the actual cars were being maintained.

When I was an apprentice in the late 80s early nineties, my boss bought a brand new one for the plasterer, it was a comfy thing to be in
Big puffy seats iirc
Brilliant video Al another blast from the past for me i used to drive same kind of van for work and the 504 pickup brilliant tool's and in the day cheep to run.

Awesome van. I want one now, my next marketplace foray.

Great vid, Al, workhorse of a van. The last vid was in France, home of Peugeot, have you any contacts in France that could get you new old stock parts. I heard you mention SITREP on you last vid, are you ex Forces{ REME} perhaps ???
This restoration looks to be quite involved, but I’m sure you will have it back to its best again 😊.
Cornish registration (GL). There were loads of 305s down there.
This guy is class fair play
There will be lots of Africsn ones of those if you fancy a trip with a trailer
You're a diesel wizard sir !
Great Video. I did notice a Peugeot 305 Floor body repair panel on the Auction site you cant name as the comment wont save.
Yes it’s about the only bit I don’t need 👍
@@6DDIESELSDorset Thats a shame.
Love the music to your videos
Alan am sure you could find a floor pan similar to them which might just need a bit of fettling save making a complete one.
Yes have looked at a few, might be just as easy to make them from scratch 👍
Another great video thanks Al. Sunday and Wednesday are now officially my two favorite days. Much better than watching the crap on the telly !!!
Cheers fella much appreciated 👍
You could probably count on one hand the number of these still on the road today,,maybe even more rare than a Ferrari f40 ...that's crazy to think....
I like your North West 200 T shirt Al
Brilliant video
Brilliant video thank you very much ❤👀👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Totally reliable engine though
Mine was the beigey white colour too , ended up putting a axel on it and a mot and getting close to a grand for it cleaned up
Just a cool old van these 305’s
I had 205 with that engine had 600k clock 😂 still ran great
Always wanted a 305 or a p100 pug more though would need a 5 speed fitted though lol!
I resent the accusation lol-my dad had one,275k and still rocking til some numpty boiled it dry🙄
I do have a 205 GTI which i consider rare.....1985 1.6 Non sunroof B Registration graphite grey...great little pocket rocket
Cracking little cars ! We’ve got a van and a low mileage one owner diesel 👍
I found a photo of your 305 van brand spanking new parked outside of Hawkins Motors, St Stephens (still trading!) but can't share it on here. Let me know if you want me to forward it! I grew up a couple of miles away from the garage.
I’ve got it fella , line of them supplied to a local coal merchant 👍
@6DDIESELSDorset Good to hear. Which coal merchant, out of interest?
If you read back through the comments there one from the guy that drove it and worked for them when it was new. It’s still get both the original dealer number plates 👍
Google Peugeot 305 floor pans. On there for about £45 👍
Didn't even smoke great cars
A bit of gout going on😂😂😂😂, speak of the day!
Al i have a 5 speed diesel box from a 309 in my shed begging for a home...
I always wondered if that ran
Has that come from Shropshire? I saw one parked at bridgnorth on the severn valley railway
Not that I know of it’s been round here for years 👍
My grandad had a f reg auto estate 305
1.9 d it great engine. I got Citroen BX with that engine
Just a suggestion isn't the Citroen BX very similar ?
Not that I know of fella, we are making the floor pans now 👍
Al 6d Diesels eats snails with diesel poured over for breaks stuck fast 🤣🤩
Why don't you just make the floor pans or have them made?
All vans were fitted with the 1.9 lump, 1905cc
Hetty/ Henry vacuums are the best you can get. Apparantly 80% of all those made are still in use.
Do you remember the petrol 305's that had the fan belt that ran round the corner?
I remember finding those in scrapyards while looking for parts - the older models with the XL5 and XR5 engines. Mine was an XU5-engined facelift model so it had a normal electric fan.
Just chop out the FLOOR PAN from a Peugeot partner, and FABRICATE it in…😊
My mate had a orange pick up one in the 90s
sounds like that was a 504
Could of been mate
Give ex pressed steel panels a call m8ght be able to help
Can a man not bodge a floor pan from another car to fit?
Old XUd will start
205 floor part ? are they the same ?
No sadly not 👍
