Mostly I build in the Sims 4, but Strangerville literally was the pack that got me PLAYING the game. In fact to this day it’s the longest I ever played with a sims family for the sims 4. I still love Parenthood the best, but Strangerville is very special to me because it was actually a lot of fun. And those doors are GORGEOUS!
Most people build in sims 4 these days, but I can say for sure that I have spent more hours solving the strangerville mystery than most other things in the whole game.
For me… I can FEEL that developers put a huge amount of effort into providing simmers with a FULLY developed thought with Strangerville. I loved the pack straight out of the gate bc I could genuinely see how much care was put into it. I [excitedly] played through the whole thing seamlessly. The world never ceases to shock me with its beauty, even to this day. There’s SO many lovely details and I’m talking about the orange dust and tumbleweeds in the breeze…. Insanely gorgeous coloring and sunsets… I was shocked when I saw how many people hated it. It was a whole experience for me and I am grateful to own it and have the chance to replay it when ever I crave a storyline like that. I think people have been blinded by their general dislike for EA, and often overlook that there seems to be a few people on the team that really do put their whole hearts into these games. So needless to say, this video warms my heart :)
I completely agree. I thinkthe pack is it's just not for a teenage girl, so the consensus was that it was lame haha. I always make a fancy bowling alley in the hills, I just wish we had even more lots up there.
I didn't mention it, but I do love the dirty tile it comes with... the sims 4 definitely needs more grungy stuff in it, I wish the vampire stuff was dusty
Justice for Strangerville!!!! I love this pack and the gameplay story is very cool. Clothing and building itens is nice and the city too (the EA buildings not but I replaced them)
Loved this video. You know, I never understood why ppl complained about replay ability. The world is just a world like any other we've paid for in The Sims 4. It's a sandbox. I was very happy to get the "extra" story to play before it became just another map like all the rest.
I really dig the Roswellian vibes of Strangerville and the gameplay. It is very different from the other game packs and I always have fun playing around in that world. It would be cool if they added on to it in a refresh one of these days, though I never tire of it as is.
Definitely not the world I choose to live in, but my favorite to visit alongside San Myshuno. I'd never planned on finishing the storyline, but my vampire accidentally got infected after feeding on a possessed sim (which was really cool, btw). It's also nice having the scientist career FutureSims lab located around Strangerville, even though they're from different packs. I played as far as getting the cure and left the sky all stormy like. It looks really pretty!
was never personally a fan of strangerville, but this was a nice watch! definitely changed my perspective on the pack, even though I still wouldn't really buy it bc its not really my kind of thing. (also pregnant bella goth just chilling and walking around the mother plant is everything)
the actual gameplay of the pack doesn't really fit in with my style of gameplay but omg the world is my favorite by far! everything is more fun in strangerville because it's just so nice to look at.
Strangerville is indeed EA trying to break the mould of the Sims 4. Unfortunately the linear storyline and super off shoot concept make it more suitable as a spin off than a game pack to a main game. Of course, the build and buy mode is the main selling point to me, which is a step up to a mass majority of packs in Sims 4.
Whenever I play a Generations type game I always set the first generation in strangerville, and progress through like half of its story so everything looks weird. I want to get to a point in the game where a far off descendent goes back to strangerville and finishes what their ancestor started (will be hard since i rarely manage to get past the 2nd gen). Also usually make the first ancestor an alien bc it really goes well with the vibe of strangerville.
I agree. I don't get why we don't have more active game packs with actual storylines and lore like this. I was disappointed the most by Jungle Adventure since you don't really follow your sim on any adventures, you just click through pop ups telling you what your sim is doing. "instead of the context being reduced to a text box and your imagination" you're right about that!
This is certainly the most addictive one. I can never stop playing the mystery once I've started it. I'll be there all night if necessary, and I have to make sure I have absolutely nothing to do.
This is definitely one of my fave game packs of TS4. The story was so fun, the build/buy is great, and the world is cute and much different from the any other world the game has gotten. This pack is great for building diners too 🤭
strangerville is my personal favorite. love the build buy objects and especially love the clothes. bomber jackets and military pants are favorites of mine. it got its money worth for how many sims i made with those clothes.
I honestly completely agree with you. This was the first pack to really include lore (even though they didn't follow through as always). But the build/buy was unmatched and the world was beautiful.
Strangerville is my fave pack, hands down. The world is gorgeous, the build/buy is awesome (especially with Peacemaker’s add on cc for it and the gameplay is actually really fun
I really loved this pack, I just wish there would’ve been a little more game/story/things to do. Feels like it was quick to solve/fight. I always used the windows and doors when I build ❤ the style of it
If you ever end up in strangerville again, try and do some of the objectives in a different way. I find focusing on the military career, or having a baby are good ways to slow down the experience a bit.
Strangerville is the only pack that actually made me play for several hours in a row. I loved solving the mystery, the build/buy and CAS items are good, and the effects with the flyings spores and thunderclouds are pretty cool. It´s even replayabel - you can awaken the mother plant and try a different approach. It was the only time the Sims 4 gameplay was actually fun for more than 20 minutes.
I like playing generational families in strangerville and having them never look into it until I get a kid that happens to have the right personality to look into it and decide to solve everything.
I agree, Strangerville has more gameplay, build/buy and cas items that fit my style. I am not into Sim Vampires, Spellcasters, or Werewolves (Though I own them as well) - However, its easy to impress the addicted. I only care for two things... Does it have a world and what new animations does it come with? Animations lead to Modders creating new CC using the animations, and worlds... I love worlds, my sims 3 downloaded collection is quite high. PS its TheTomorrowSim. OH MY.... I'm the Pink Poooooooooo!
Sangerville never played right for me, my sims always froze when I tired to kill the mother plant so I never plat this world. Great video and I am glad it worked for you

I actually really enjoyed the story of Strangerville. I didn't watch any reviews or gameplays in advance just to surprise myself. Sure it's not easy to fit it into our main existing storyline but maybe just leave it out? Play it as a separate refreshing filler? :D
back when i played ts4 still this was always my favorite pack, i LOVED the quirky desert town vibes, especially halfway through the story when the sky's orange and purple and there's spores everywhere and you can hear weird howling outside at night. after playing through the pack's story the first time i'd cheat the world into that state in subsequent saves. i'm shocked that people didn't like it bc it has a lot of the same vibes both visually and story-wise as strangetown, which is a fan favorite and the best town the series ever did story-wise imo. i've since gone back to ts3 and ts2, but i find myself missing strangerville sometimes.
I don’t have Strangerville or a lot of other ‘packs’ yet, but of the five I have (vampires, werewolves, realm of magic, spa day, and dream home decorator), realm of magic is my favorite. I really love the magical world and how big and functional it is (meaning there are a lot of things you can do there, not just that it isn’t buggy LOL). The pre-built homes in the non-magical world do suck, but build mode is my favorite part of the game so that’s not even a negative for me. I love all the whimsical furniture and architecture that incorporates really well into fairy-tale style cottages and gives them a fantastical aesthetic, and I find the clothes incorporate really well into the paranormal stuff pack and werewolves pack. And I really like the skills you learn and how they help make gameplay easier, and the familiars. Though I do wish that they had a couple more light familiars, my first spell caster was a ‘white witch’ that wears all white and looks pretty ghostly, so I was disappointed to learn the closest to an all-white magical familiar I could get was the leafbat. It seems like they have a lot of options for spellcasters with a spookier theme and didn’t think much about people who might choose a different type of character.
I've loved this pack since its release, I love the desert looking world and absolutely adore the investigations parts. Even thought I played Strangerville's story line 100 times, I never get tired of it, really. Definitely my favorite pack!
I love Strangerville. Along with Seasons it is my favourite pack. You can play it at any stage you want - creepy, less creepy and 'almost normal'. Love the world. Love the residents especially George Cahill and the Roswells. Great fun.
I remade bob and Betty and bull there home from the sims and I play there all the time, evening moving the goths into a home on the hill over seeing the town made sense how me. The town and pack feels like the sims and sims 2 to me, brilliant video and glad to see some love for the strange 🎉
I also moved the Goths to a house on the hill. 😂 And downloaded the Grunt family from the gallery and they also live on the hill. Tank is currently working on solving the mystery and when the final showdown comes General Buzz will be on the team.
The only one that gave you a new career? I got the scientist, doctor, and police careers from the Get to Work pack, with the option to follow your Sims to their job and direct what they do there. That one also gives you the ability to invest in businesses or real estate ventures, but I haven't messed with that feature yet. Also it doesn't seem like the house mods are anything you can't do in the vanilla game. I could build a house like the one shown at 5:30 without the pack. I'm wondering what is necessary about the pack specifically to build that house? The window design maybe? There's plenty of similar windows to choose from in the regular game. Maybe they just kept expanding the regular game so much that these mods are no longer distinct.
Get Together and Seasons are the best EP 👌🏼 Strangerville is what a GP should look like Paranormal is what a SP should be And Kits shouldn't exist at all but since we already have it the clutter kit is the one that speaks most to the concept of kits

Interesting point of view. I personally don't have Strangerville but it's good to know it does work properly with only base game. As far as I know, with every dlc which is adding a world EA is showing off possibilities of build mode which leaves builds empty. For me my favorite game pack is realm of magic. I personally like cas as well as bb but I have to have an idea in mind. Gameplay is not that bad and realm of magic feels more lively than neighborhood from university. And regarding houses: if we exclude stairs to nowhere, appearance of builds actually makes sense. As spellcasters have their own domain, they don't follow common sense for "normal sims". Realm of magic has a cross play compatibility with other dlc (cats and dogs and get famous) Unfortunately the biggest flaw on realm of magic for me is that some of the names of potions are broken in polish version :/ I get pieces of string instead of potions names...
Strangerville was a pack I was always excited for, I love keeping my game at the 2nd most infected stage. Infected sims wandering around and spores in the air make for such a fun and honestly unique area from the constant suburban clean neighbourhoods. I would love another game pack with this style of linear storyline ... 👀 maybe like a into the future style pack...
I always do gameplay (I hate building) and cas on my game but I've never done the strangerville mystery even though I have the pack, my favourite pack will always be island living though
Island living has the most beautiful world by far, I just wish I could scuba dive and build a hotel or resort, but I am a builder, so the water lots always get me excited 😆
Honestly, I'm not one for story based packs in the sims, at least most of the time, and this is one of them. The town and content is pretty, but you can only play the storyline once per save, and it never changes. It could have been far more nuanced for me.
lately i've been wanting Strangerville and Journey to Batuu both and this video only intensified at least one of those desires. can't wait for that Steam sale on the 19th!
I personally loved Strangerville. It has that post-WW2 sci-fi thriller movie vibe in the plot and atmosphere. And the town itself was charming (if not a tad bland). I actually spruced up very little of the actual builds in the pack. Mostly just turning the 8 Bells into a full ol fashioned saloon.
I was surprised when you said spoilers like haha these things usually don't have stories, they mostly just focus on designing new clothes and interior decorations and so on.
I remembered when I first moved in Strangerville and the neighbors came over to greet before suspiciously turned to zombies like and I freaked out, ran upstairs and looked through the window like wtf is going on LMAO
That’s what those Victorian towers and turrets are for! Haha. I was spooked too, because they act like the crazy people walking down the street where I live 😂
It's the best pack for you and whoever feels the same way, actually. Arguable, however, I agree with some of the points you made. It's a cool pack and it's a pretty world, yes, but I'd agree 100% IF we had the option to turn the story OFF. I just wanna play in the "normal" version of that world and without infected Sims everywhere. Without having to do all the gameplay every. single. time. just to have a normal looking world. So, Cottage Living is still my favorite and the best to me💕 and that doesn't mean I talk trash about other packs tho. Like Batuu, don't care for it and I never even went to that world, but probably great for a Star Wars fan. They all add different things and are cool for different people. They're way too expensive, yup, and game is broken but that's the reality and we all play it regardless, so I'd say its better than nothing.

Hm interesting also difference in how we play, I wouldn't see each pack as a new journey for old characters but as an opportunity to create new characters appropriate to the demands of the scanario, like I was creating a fictional character who seems appropriate in that story. I love creating new characters and building new houses, so I don't think of Sims play as about the linear progression of any one Sim or family of them.
I love Strangerville too! The gameplay is super fun but my sims keep getting fired like literally ON FIRE. They have max skill in cooking and have good stoves and appliances and stuff, but the house keeps making fire. Is it a thing that comes with the pack, or just bad luck?? Anyone have trouble with this too?
I can't agree - subjectively I don't like to watch/play something if I already know what's coming, so after completing the storyline, I was never tempted to redo it. I know all the answers now so where's the fun?! I mainly got it for the windows and beautiful roof decorations. I just keep access to the mother plant open so I can feed sims to her. It's one of the methods of unaliving my royal family uses for treason haha
i love how strangerville looks but personally i just dont like the playstyle of following 1 story for 1 world and then be done. i like when packs are more combined. I also like sims 2 attempt to bring lore or story with making connections and stories behind the families but they dont force you to play a certain way. I have always played the sims series as a life simulator and not a challenge simulator.. wich i feel like sims 4 has taken that approach alot.. specially with scenarious and youtubers making challenges out of everything. Its just not for me and i mod my game insanely to fix everything i hate but the problem with that is that half of my mods break everytime they update the game, so personally i have stopped attempting to play sims 4. I am patiently waiting for them to stop updating sims 4. I am glad they still update and such for other people but for myself, i am ready for them to let it go.
Eh, I rarely ever visit that city and I am notorious for building and Simming in the magic and vampire realms. Honestly, now that I think about it, I play in every other pack but Strangerville one.

I juuuuuust finally got all the dlc for sims 4. Previously was all sims 3 I did not want to play sims 4 until I had all the content because of all I've heard about it lol. I have yet to do the strangerville story but so far I love the fact you can plant bugs on people and listen in. Etc etc. And I've already seen some videos I'm gonna try the aspiration soon 😅. My fav sims 4 packs are for weird reasons 😆. I LOVEEEE cottage living because I can create full on armies of dark evil 🖤 chickens 🐔 😆. I make story lines with evil chickens a lot now they protect you from vampires other sims and even the grim reaper. It's amazing for gameplay. plus I had to have Agnes crumplebottom which comes with the pack and hits people with her bag when they show pda lol. I also like newcrest simply because I can download my strip clubs and other custom stuff and create my own neighborhood 😅 trap houses, barbie trailers, strip clubs, and a dispensary always starts my newcrest 🤣
Everything is customizable and has a lot of color options so I'm not sure where you're coming from when you say EA's color palettes suck. They don't give you the colors, you choose them. I'm not mostly looking at stuff they designed but stuff I designed when I play anyhow. Except you have to put their art up in your house if you want the Nicely Decorated moodlet. That's it as far as how much EA's color sense matters when I'm playing.
FINALLY! everyone trashes strangerville but i LOVE it. partially cause im so into the old west americana, desert towns with trailers, military, mystery, aliens... but also the "rpg" and interactivr mystery aspect tights sooo well with the sims' core gameplay - social interaction
Hey guys, this is a bit unrelated but I need help and let me know if anyone got this same problem. I moved to the EA app from origin and now everytime I click "play" it says "game is already running" eventhough it is not. And when I try to report the error it says the error report had an error 😅. Plz let me kmow if anyone has had this issue
It's not my favorite but I do really like it. There was just two DLCs for sims 4 that made me really get back to the game, one was the wolf pack that I later loose interest because I found the werewolf too ugly to bare the gameplay and the other was strangerville. I was so excited and happy while playing this DLC. I'm also a fan of lore so I thought at the time that maybe they were talking the step into the right path but nope, never happened again. My problem with Strangerville lies exactly in the points you made about it being so good in comparision to the other DLCS. Strangerville is not like anything sims 4 ever tried to be, and that makes it stand out too much with the gameplay this game have. It was a bit underwhelming playing a goofy, family friendly, wholesome, not creepy at all game with such a misterious and scary narrative, it would fit so well with sims 2 or 3 atmosphere, but in sims 4 it just ended up a little silly and distracting. Ultimatly I don't like the tone of the simulation behaviour in sims 4, and it affected my experience a little because the trailer made it seem like for the first time sims 4 was trying to bring the creepness back, but naah, it was all just alternative animation to sell the pack

I can see how someone who's first game is sims 4 not minding at all, but then there's also the fact that the most popular mods for sims 4 are the violent, quirk, lewd and realistic ones 💀
I'm not going to disagree with you on the game play aspect of Strangerville, but I heavily disagree with the build and buy. Cottage Life is the best build and buy pack that I have yet to buy. To be fair, I haven't purchased many of the ones released after it but in my opinion, Cottage Life has the best overall build and buy experience.
this pack is SO overhated, i think it should have at least hinted at bella's disappearance to tie in the lore because of how closely related strangetown and strangerville are, but at the same time i can see that since the sims 4 is technically an alternate universe, this would be strangetown in the sims 4 dimension sans disappearing bella. aside from that, the gameplay was really good and fleshed out in comparison to the other packs, and i use the build/buy all the time
I do not like this game pack.... I have it, because i thought "yeah, cool, quite nice". But the problem is (for me) that the infected people could spread it around in other neighbourhoods. I just do not like it that the situation of Strangerville has an impact to other neighbourhoods
I liked strangerville more than Star Wars pack. I’m a huge fan of Star Wars ,but they literally made such a bad pack The quests are so boring to do,I couldn’t even finish further 2 level. At least I finished full story line at stranger ville

There is an old restaurant inside a Victorian mansion in my hometown Toronto, and I tried to make that once with strangerville haha

If I am stuck in a base game world, it is ALWAYS oasis springs
I really loved this pack, I just wish there would’ve been a little more game/story/things to do. Feels like it was quick to solve/fight. I always used the windows and doors when I build ❤ the style of it
If you ever end up in strangerville again, try and do some of the objectives in a different way. I find focusing on the military career, or having a baby are good ways to slow down the experience a bit.
Strangerville is the only pack that actually made me play for several hours in a row. I loved solving the mystery, the build/buy and CAS items are good, and the effects with the flyings spores and thunderclouds are pretty cool. It´s even replayabel - you can awaken the mother plant and try a different approach. It was the only time the Sims 4 gameplay was actually fun for more than 20 minutes.
I'm so glad that someone else feels the same way about this pack. I love how imperfect and interesting this pack is. By far my favorite game pack

I like playing generational families in strangerville and having them never look into it until I get a kid that happens to have the right personality to look into it and decide to solve everything.
That is such a good way to play it! Sometimes my babies get random aspirations anyway so that is a great way to incorporate it.
I think Strangervill is one of the best worlds. It really feels like its own self contained small town.
I think it has the best style choice as well... very different from the other worlds !
I agree, Strangerville has more gameplay, build/buy and cas items that fit my style. I am not into Sim Vampires, Spellcasters, or Werewolves (Though I own them as well) - However, its easy to impress the addicted. I only care for two things... Does it have a world and what new animations does it come with? Animations lead to Modders creating new CC using the animations, and worlds... I love worlds, my sims 3 downloaded collection is quite high. PS its TheTomorrowSim. OH MY.... I'm the Pink Poooooooooo!

Sangerville never played right for me, my sims always froze when I tired to kill the mother plant so I never plat this world. Great video and I am glad it worked for you

Strangerville is what actually initially attracted me to the sims at all!! I wouldn’t have thought the game was cool or fun unless strangerville hadnt come out
I actually really enjoyed the story of Strangerville. I didn't watch any reviews or gameplays in advance just to surprise myself. Sure it's not easy to fit it into our main existing storyline but maybe just leave it out? Play it as a separate refreshing filler? :D
back when i played ts4 still this was always my favorite pack, i LOVED the quirky desert town vibes, especially halfway through the story when the sky's orange and purple and there's spores everywhere and you can hear weird howling outside at night. after playing through the pack's story the first time i'd cheat the world into that state in subsequent saves. i'm shocked that people didn't like it bc it has a lot of the same vibes both visually and story-wise as strangetown, which is a fan favorite and the best town the series ever did story-wise imo. i've since gone back to ts3 and ts2, but i find myself missing strangerville sometimes.

I don’t have Strangerville or a lot of other ‘packs’ yet, but of the five I have (vampires, werewolves, realm of magic, spa day, and dream home decorator), realm of magic is my favorite. I really love the magical world and how big and functional it is (meaning there are a lot of things you can do there, not just that it isn’t buggy LOL). The pre-built homes in the non-magical world do suck, but build mode is my favorite part of the game so that’s not even a negative for me. I love all the whimsical furniture and architecture that incorporates really well into fairy-tale style cottages and gives them a fantastical aesthetic, and I find the clothes incorporate really well into the paranormal stuff pack and werewolves pack. And I really like the skills you learn and how they help make gameplay easier, and the familiars.
Though I do wish that they had a couple more light familiars, my first spell caster was a ‘white witch’ that wears all white and looks pretty ghostly, so I was disappointed to learn the closest to an all-white magical familiar I could get was the leafbat. It seems like they have a lot of options for spellcasters with a spookier theme and didn’t think much about people who might choose a different type of character.
I've loved this pack since its release, I love the desert looking world and absolutely adore the investigations parts. Even thought I played Strangerville's story line 100 times, I never get tired of it, really. Definitely my favorite pack!
I love Strangerville and I've infected all the non SV townies after finishing the story for more weirdness. This pack got me playing TS4 more.
This pack reminds me of the one town in the sims 2 that was wild west looking.

I love Strangerville. Along with Seasons it is my favourite pack. You can play it at any stage you want - creepy, less creepy and 'almost normal'. Love the world. Love the residents especially George Cahill and the Roswells. Great fun.

I remade bob and Betty and bull there home from the sims and I play there all the time, evening moving the goths into a home on the hill over seeing the town made sense how me. The town and pack feels like the sims and sims 2 to me, brilliant video and glad to see some love for the strange 🎉
I also moved the Goths to a house on the hill. 😂 And downloaded the Grunt family from the gallery and they also live on the hill. Tank is currently working on solving the mystery and when the final showdown comes General Buzz will be on the team.
The only one that gave you a new career? I got the scientist, doctor, and police careers from the Get to Work pack, with the option to follow your Sims to their job and direct what they do there. That one also gives you the ability to invest in businesses or real estate ventures, but I haven't messed with that feature yet.
Also it doesn't seem like the house mods are anything you can't do in the vanilla game. I could build a house like the one shown at 5:30 without the pack. I'm wondering what is necessary about the pack specifically to build that house? The window design maybe? There's plenty of similar windows to choose from in the regular game. Maybe they just kept expanding the regular game so much that these mods are no longer distinct.

And Kits shouldn't exist at all but since we already have it the clutter kit is the one that speaks most to the concept of kits
I have a love hate relationship shop with get together... I don’t think it’s THAT good, but it’s such a good pack to have to manage all your sims

Interesting point of view. I personally don't have Strangerville but it's good to know it does work properly with only base game. As far as I know, with every dlc which is adding a world EA is showing off possibilities of build mode which leaves builds empty.
For me my favorite game pack is realm of magic. I personally like cas as well as bb but I have to have an idea in mind. Gameplay is not that bad and realm of magic feels more lively than neighborhood from university. And regarding houses: if we exclude stairs to nowhere, appearance of builds actually makes sense. As spellcasters have their own domain, they don't follow common sense for "normal sims". Realm of magic has a cross play compatibility with other dlc (cats and dogs and get famous) Unfortunately the biggest flaw on realm of magic for me is that some of the names of potions are broken in polish version :/ I get pieces of string instead of potions names...

Strangerville was a pack I was always excited for, I love keeping my game at the 2nd most infected stage. Infected sims wandering around and spores in the air make for such a fun and honestly unique area from the constant suburban clean neighbourhoods. I would love another game pack with this style of linear storyline ... 👀 maybe like a into the future style pack...
The ended Sims 3 with "into the future" maybe they will make an "into the past" and we will have cars, babies and an open neighbourhood XD

Island living has the most beautiful world by far, I just wish I could scuba dive and build a hotel or resort, but I am a builder, so the water lots always get me excited 😆
Honestly, I'm not one for story based packs in the sims, at least most of the time, and this is one of them. The town and content is pretty, but you can only play the storyline once per save, and it never changes. It could have been far more nuanced for me.
Maybe I am just blinded by beautiful build/buy, which is EA's main trick when it comes to sims 4

I personally loved Strangerville. It has that post-WW2 sci-fi thriller movie vibe in the plot and atmosphere. And the town itself was charming (if not a tad bland). I actually spruced up very little of the actual builds in the pack. Mostly just turning the 8 Bells into a full ol fashioned saloon.
I was surprised when you said spoilers like haha these things usually don't have stories, they mostly just focus on designing new clothes and interior decorations and so on.

I use alot of build buy stuff from strangerville aswell as the clothing. I'm still obsessed with strangerville to this day.
I remembered when I first moved in Strangerville and the neighbors came over to greet before suspiciously turned to zombies like and I freaked out, ran upstairs and looked through the window like wtf is going on LMAO

Arguable, however, I agree with some of the points you made. It's a cool pack and it's a pretty world, yes, but I'd agree 100% IF we had the option to turn the story OFF. I just wanna play in the "normal" version of that world and without infected Sims everywhere. Without having to do all the gameplay every. single. time. just to have a normal looking world.
So, Cottage Living is still my favorite and the best to me💕 and that doesn't mean I talk trash about other packs tho. Like Batuu, don't care for it and I never even went to that world, but probably great for a Star Wars fan. They all add different things and are cool for different people. They're way too expensive, yup, and game is broken but that's the reality and we all play it regardless, so I'd say its better than nothing.

The vines show up daily for me... but only in the second and third acts I think

Aliens was what got me into Sims, so Strangerville had me hyped
Sims 2 has the best aliens still I think... i love playing strangetown in that game.
Hm interesting also difference in how we play, I wouldn't see each pack as a new journey for old characters but as an opportunity to create new characters appropriate to the demands of the scanario, like I was creating a fictional character who seems appropriate in that story. I love creating new characters and building new houses, so I don't think of Sims play as about the linear progression of any one Sim or family of them.
I love Strangerville too! The gameplay is super fun but my sims keep getting fired like literally ON FIRE. They have max skill in cooking and have good stoves and appliances and stuff, but the house keeps making fire. Is it a thing that comes with the pack, or just bad luck?? Anyone have trouble with this too?
I can't agree - subjectively I don't like to watch/play something if I already know what's coming, so after completing the storyline, I was never tempted to redo it. I know all the answers now so where's the fun?! I mainly got it for the windows and beautiful roof decorations.
I just keep access to the mother plant open so I can feed sims to her. It's one of the methods of unaliving my royal family uses for treason haha
i love how strangerville looks but personally i just dont like the playstyle of following 1 story for 1 world and then be done. i like when packs are more combined. I also like sims 2 attempt to bring lore or story with making connections and stories behind the families but they dont force you to play a certain way.
I have always played the sims series as a life simulator and not a challenge simulator.. wich i feel like sims 4 has taken that approach alot.. specially with scenarious and youtubers making challenges out of everything. Its just not for me and i mod my game insanely to fix everything i hate but the problem with that is that half of my mods break everytime they update the game, so personally i have stopped attempting to play sims 4. I am patiently waiting for them to stop updating sims 4. I am glad they still update and such for other people but for myself, i am ready for them to let it go.

Eh, I rarely ever visit that city and I am notorious for building and Simming in the magic and vampire realms. Honestly, now that I think about it, I play in every other pack but Strangerville one.

I juuuuuust finally got all the dlc for sims 4. Previously was all sims 3 I did not want to play sims 4 until I had all the content because of all I've heard about it lol.
I have yet to do the strangerville story but so far I love the fact you can plant bugs on people and listen in. Etc etc. And I've already seen some videos I'm gonna try the aspiration soon 😅.
My fav sims 4 packs are for weird reasons 😆. I LOVEEEE cottage living because I can create full on armies of dark evil 🖤 chickens 🐔 😆. I make story lines with evil chickens a lot now they protect you from vampires other sims and even the grim reaper. It's amazing for gameplay. plus I had to have Agnes crumplebottom which comes with the pack and hits people with her bag when they show pda lol.
I also like newcrest simply because I can download my strip clubs and other custom stuff and create my own neighborhood 😅 trap houses, barbie trailers, strip clubs, and a dispensary always starts my newcrest 🤣
Just playing Strangerville for the second time, it's quite entertaining and something different to do with Sims.
Everything is customizable and has a lot of color options so I'm not sure where you're coming from when you say EA's color palettes suck. They don't give you the colors, you choose them.
I'm not mostly looking at stuff they designed but stuff I designed when I play anyhow. Except you have to put their art up in your house if you want the Nicely Decorated moodlet. That's it as far as how much EA's color sense matters when I'm playing.
FINALLY! everyone trashes strangerville but i LOVE it. partially cause im so into the old west americana, desert towns with trailers, military, mystery, aliens... but also the "rpg" and interactivr mystery aspect tights sooo well with the sims' core gameplay - social interaction

Hey guys, this is a bit unrelated but I need help and let me know if anyone got this same problem.
I moved to the EA app from origin and now everytime I click "play" it says "game is already running" eventhough it is not. And when I try to report the error it says the error report had an error 😅.
Plz let me kmow if anyone has had this issue

It's not my favorite but I do really like it. There was just two DLCs for sims 4 that made me really get back to the game, one was the wolf pack that I later loose interest because I found the werewolf too ugly to bare the gameplay and the other was strangerville. I was so excited and happy while playing this DLC. I'm also a fan of lore so I thought at the time that maybe they were talking the step into the right path but nope, never happened again.
My problem with Strangerville lies exactly in the points you made about it being so good in comparision to the other DLCS. Strangerville is not like anything sims 4 ever tried to be, and that makes it stand out too much with the gameplay this game have. It was a bit underwhelming playing a goofy, family friendly, wholesome, not creepy at all game with such a misterious and scary narrative, it would fit so well with sims 2 or 3 atmosphere, but in sims 4 it just ended up a little silly and distracting. Ultimatly I don't like the tone of the simulation behaviour in sims 4, and it affected my experience a little because the trailer made it seem like for the first time sims 4 was trying to bring the creepness back, but naah, it was all just alternative animation to sell the pack
You make a great point. I agree I’m much more a fan of sims 1 2 and 3, and strangerville is the only pack to give sims 4 that “edge” it needs

I can see how someone who's first game is sims 4 not minding at all, but then there's also the fact that the most popular mods for sims 4 are the violent, quirk, lewd and realistic ones 💀
I'm not going to disagree with you on the game play aspect of Strangerville, but I heavily disagree with the build and buy. Cottage Life is the best build and buy pack that I have yet to buy. To be fair, I haven't purchased many of the ones released after it but in my opinion, Cottage Life has the best overall build and buy experience.

this pack is SO overhated, i think it should have at least hinted at bella's disappearance to tie in the lore because of how closely related strangetown and strangerville are, but at the same time i can see that since the sims 4 is technically an alternate universe, this would be strangetown in the sims 4 dimension sans disappearing bella. aside from that, the gameplay was really good and fleshed out in comparison to the other packs, and i use the build/buy all the time

I do not like this game pack.... I have it, because i thought "yeah, cool, quite nice". But the problem is (for me) that the infected people could spread it around in other neighbourhoods. I just do not like it that the situation of Strangerville has an impact to other neighbourhoods
