    The VERY BEST conversion video I have seen. You are an excellent teacher! I love the way you presented such an organized way to proceed. Many videos leave this part out. I have so many wood stamps I can't store them all. This will allow me to enjoy my hobby again! Many thanks.

    Thank you so much for this info, wish I’d known about doing this to my stamps 2 years ago! I moved and couldn’t bring all of them with me. 😢Your video was absolutely the easiest method to do! Can’t wait to get my cling sheets and start changing them over! Only thing I’ll do differently is to put an image on the foam before putting the cling on it.

    i just started using rubber stamps. I am curious as to the reason people prefer to unmount from the wood blocks.

    • @CityGalcreative
      @CityGalcreative  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much for your comment. While I can't speak for others, the reason I chose to remove the wood block is because I didn't have sufficient space to store the stamps with the wooden blocks. They can take up lots of space and are also heavy when you have a lot of them. Not to mention the blocks are carrying sizes so they don't stack well. After taking them off the block I was able to store them better and in a place where I can access them quicker and easier. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching ☺️

    • @Linda.Swierczynski
      @Linda.Swierczynski 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Shavont, There is another reason people are removing stamps from their blocks that @CityGal Papeterie didn't mention. When you remove rubber stamps from their blocks, you can then use those stamps in 'stamp positioner 's.' Look up what they are if you don't know. BTW she might as well have left them on their blocks with all that paper she left hanging over beyond the edges of the stamps. They must be trimmed!! Hope I've helped! I can easily see how you lined up the rubber stamp to the image on paper. What I don't get, is how you lined up the stamps to the stamped image on the fun foam . . . you can't see through the fun foam.

      I used the stamped image as more of a guide for where to place the cling stamp for storage. For a perfectly aligned image when stamping, it might be helpful to use some form of stamp positioner. I hope I answered your question? Thank you for commenting!

    Love this video, ty😇🤔🐈 I have a something I want to ask you🤔i have about, maybe @500 wooden stamps. I was a Case Manger many years ago & I had such long lines that God gave me the idea to use stamps for a outline and the just fill in wit face paint for color😁 & it really helped😇 My Q is I want to use a 3 hole binder/notebook to put my stamps in them🤔Now, the plastic sheets that u buy to put different sections in would the stamps be ok to stick & reuse them off of those plastic sleeves🤔😇Also I looked up laminators? Tell me again why you do that?

    • @CityGalcreative
      @CityGalcreative  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh thats a great idea about the stamp for facepaint. I used the laminate sheets because they enclose the stamp images and are thick and the surface works to have the stamps stick to them for storage. Im not sure if the plastic binder dividers would be glossy enough to hold the stamps? But I honestly am not sure. It's funny you wrote case manager on accident because that was actually my job title for a long time 😂 happy crafting ☺️

    Is there a way to save the sticker image on the back of the rubber before you add the plastic? I have a ton of unmounted Stampin up stamps with the stickers. Wondering if I can stick the sticker on the foam, then use the glue for the cling part. They have been sitting in storage unused for 20 years.

    • @CityGalcreative
      @CityGalcreative  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm so happy to hear you want to get out your stored stamps and play! I tried to save some of the stickers but it didn't work out so well. I honestly am not sure how well the tack it over would do onto the plastic because I have not tried it and its properties are a bit different that vinyl. If you give it a try, I'd love to know how it works out? Thank you for watching 😊

    Thank you for a great tutorial I’ve watched other videos with out success. I took a large quantity of my stamps off of the blocks , unfortunately I was told to take the foam off as well and use tack it over and over then place on my Misti. The problem is then my Misti gets sticky and I can’t get it cleaned and... I want to put the cellophane picture on the back of rubber then put glue but the picture pulls off the rubber. Does that make sense? Help I’m so stuck ( humor helps😃)

    • @CityGalcreative
      @CityGalcreative  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes that makes sense! As far as the Misti getting sticky have you tried dabbing some talc or cornstarch on the sticky edges? Maybe even like an embossing buddy? I'm not sure how you could attach the picture to the rubber without it falling of though...I feel like that peace of foam is pretty important! And yes humor can definitely help in MOST situations 🤪 thank you for watching!

    • @kkrolf2782
      @kkrolf2782 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pam Litzinger You may have already found answers elsewhere, but... If you’re talking about the cellophane picture on the back of the WOOD BLOCK I’d suggest you scrap that idea, as, after being on the wood, that picture most likely will NOT create the “seal” necessary to adhere to your misti. As to the stickum left from the Ailene’s, you might check out Jennifer McGuire’s videos (sorry i can’t pinpoint which one) as to the kind of cleaner she used to remove an adhesive she purposely applied to her Misti to adhere a stamp (not positive, but I think she was using a tape runner to keep a BACKGROUND stamp in place; maybe; hopefully that’ll help you find the vid.). Also, I’d be afraid that the stamp would not even adhere to the Misti - if you used the talc/stamping buddy - let alone getting them to stick to the laminating sheets. Good luck, Pam. Let us know how you resolved this “sticky dilemma”.

  • @DesireeStamat

      Hi! Vinyl will not adhere to wet glue or dried glue. But since tack it over is tacky once dry it is compatible for adhering the viny. I hope that helps!

    Please clarify: you say to cut the thermal laminating pouches to 5 1/2 x 8. However, the clear storage pouch measures 5 5/8 x 7 3/8, making the laminated pouch too big for the storage pouch. Am I missing something? I am excited to order the products you recommend and get started on this project! Thank you for a great tutorial.

    • @CityGalcreative
      @CityGalcreative  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Janet! Yes the laminated piece sticks out at the top as you can see at the beginning of the video. I kept it that way so I can fit as many stamps as possible on each laminated sheet and so as to not waste any material. I also leave the pouches open for easy access. If you prefer it to fit perfectly in the storage pouch I would suggest cutting it down to the storage pouch size before laminating so you know how much space you are working with when arranging your images. Thank you for watching! Happy crafting 😁

    Thank you for such a good tutorial. Yours is one of the most comprehensive I have found. I am attempting to do this to my stamp collection. I added the picture from the plastic image on the stamp. It came off quite easily and used the tack it on those that didn't have enough "stick" left on them. I'm not sure about the cling vinyl though. I then used the tack it on top of the plastic picture (I've seen other vids that stamp on cardstock and add the image the same way). I have followed your steps (I even tried without the sticker on the back) and am finding that they are not very clingy, especially the larger ones. Or they get on the block and fall off before I get my image stamped. I used the same product you did, but it doesn't seem to want to adhere very well. Any thoughts or suggestions? Haven't got around to making pouches yet as I am going to be sorting them according to theme (eg all words for thank you, Christmas, etc), not necessarily by set.

    • @CityGalcreative
      @CityGalcreative  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! I am happy to help you sort this out but I am a bit confused. When you say you used the picture from the plastic image do you mean the sticker in the wood? Did you use the cling film as well?

    • @just4me927
      @just4me927 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CityGalcreative sorry to confuse you! Yes the picture that would have been on the wood (or still on the paper because they were never mounted). This was so I could have the image on the stamp. Then I tried to put the cling on top of that. It stuck to the picture, but didn't cling well to the acrylic block. Hope that makes sense.

    • @CityGalcreative

      Oh ok lol i understand. What if you try kitchen cling film over the cling you already put on there? Maybe that sticks better? I have also used kitchen cling wrap before getting the other clear cling and it wasn't too bad. Hope this helps!

    What brand are the stamps you converted, please?

    • @CityGalcreative
      @CityGalcreative  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi. Thank you for your question. I converted really old wood mounted stamps that I inherited years ago. Some had brand names on them and some did not. However, they are from many different brands, Hero Arts, Stampin' up, Stampington, Toybox, Inkadinkado, All Night Media, Judikins, Wordsworth, Stampers Anonymous, savvy stamps, Rubber Cottage, Hampton Arts, and many others. Many of these companies are no longer in business unfortunately, but if there was a particular stamp you wanted to look into, I can check my stash to give you the specific stamp name and brand and a quick google search can let you know if it is available anywhere. Sorry this isn't a clear cut answer but I hope it helps!

    • @CityGalcreative
      @CityGalcreative  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Nita! Im so glad you decided to give my tutorial a try 😁 Sorry you're having some trouble. There's a chance that stamping the vinyl might interfere with how well it will stick to the laminated paper. When we purchase them from the store there is nothing between the cling stamp or acrylic sheet it comes with. But it is more important that it cling to your stamping block. If it sticks to your stamping block but not the laminated sheet you might want to either switch to storing them in something like pocket sleeves to keep them in place or trying to clean off the ink from the vinyl but i don't know how effective it might be after having your ink all dry. You could also use removable tape to keep it on your laminated sheet. I hope this helps! Thank you for commenting 🌷🌻🌹

    Just removed all of my stamps, did tack it and put stamps on shiny side of cling vinyl. However, the cling vinyl doesn’t stick to clear blocks. What am I doing wrong??

    • @CityGalcreative
      @CityGalcreative  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh no, I'm sorry you're having trouble. Maybe the vinyl is too dry or oily? Try cleaning the vinyl and the acrylic block to clear them from any debris, dust, or oils. If that doesn't work perhaps you can try to add a small amount of tack it to the vinyl to allow it to have a nonpermanent stick to the block. Hope this helps!

      @@CityGalcreative thank you so much for your reply. I re-applied the tack it and when dry put it back on another sheet of vinyl. Worked!

    Thank you for your video. How long do you allow the glue to dry before applying the vinyl cling?How long after applying the vinyl cling before you use a stamp? I completed my first set of stamps and noticed the vinyl cling wanted to stay on the positioner when I was pulling the stamp off. Maybe I was a little too excited!

      Hi Judy. Excellent question. This was quite a while ago but I think it may have been something along the lines of half hour...I waited until the glue became transparent. But I also worked in batches so I didn't fully calculate the time. Sorry! I hope you can try it again and find a solution. Thank you for your comment!

      @@CityGalcreative Thank you for your quick reply. Yes, I waited until the glue turned clear. I will do a larger stamp set tomorrow and use a thicker amount of glue, and let them dry for an extended period of time before adhering the vinyl cling. Even with the "loose" cling, I'm very pleased with the process and the end result. I'm so excited about the storage capacity that I'm recapturing!

    If you DON'T clean your rubber stamps after each use, then you don't want them to last!!! Use them, clean them, then every so often use a Rubber Stamp Conditioner on them to treat and bring back the moisture in your rubber stamps or they will eventually dry out and the rubber will crack up and crumble into pieces. (Example Car tires are rubber, when not taken care of can get dry rot, then blowout). Hope I've helped! Linda from NJ, USA. ٩(✿◠‿◠)۶ 😀😇🌺

      It depends on the stamp. Some come off clean, some don't, and some wood stamps have the image on the wood like a tattoo instead of a sticker. Whatever works is good 👍 thank you for your comment 😊

      Thank you so much your comment and great question!! I found the process tedious but mostly because I had SO many to do but it was very effective and I use my rubber stamps more than I did before because I now have them stored more compactly nearer my table. I can also sort through them MUCH easier and I can see better where I'm stamping. I hope this was helpful! Happy crafting 😉

    I missed the memo that you are not supposed to clean off red rubber stamps. Is that a thing?

    • @CityGalcreative
      @CityGalcreative  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not that you aren't supposed to clean them, but that you don't need to. I have heard some stampers say they never clean them but if I didn't wipe them off after using mine I'd get ink everywhere!

    • @kkrolf2782
      @kkrolf2782 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not only could you end up with ink every where, but it sounds as though who ever is proffering that advice NEVER changes the COLOR of ink they use for their stamping!!!
